  1. You should know that the south pole is at the top. The attached map shows this clearly. 10 million penguins can't all be wrong.

  2. Here's a tip for these allen heads and also phillips head screws that are known to be tight or going to be problematical. Buy yourself some WATER based valve grinding paste NOT oil based and put a blob on the tip of the tool before inserting into the screw head. The paste triples the grip of the tool. When your job for the night is to remove the leading edge panels on the wing of a jet and the total Phillips head screw count is around 600 screws and they've been installed for a year or two you lean all the tricks. There are others as well, for another day. Phil

  3. My T/S flasher failed on the last ride. It had been intermittently absent or lit/no flash for some time now. I replaced it with a 20A max (why? Tractor-Trailer?) LED flasher. I had to add a polarity reverser to the base, and remote ground wire. But it's bright and quick! Better than expected. At 1.8 amps, should last forever. Boring, but it's raining today.

  5. Those screws have a tiny hex head, which can round-off easily. I'd suggest getting some replacement screws while they are out. I didn't know those "half-moon" retaining clips were unobtainable - thanks for the heads up.

  6. Heat can't hurt(up to a point) but if it's retained by red or green Loctite then anything less than about 180-200deg C is pretty pointless as that's the temp required for it to release. Heating the head of the screw is also a bit pointless here as the loctite on the end is so far away on a long screw. Try some boiling water on the throttle body itself where the screw threads into it but I don't think it will help. BTW treat those aluminium half moon injector feed line retainers with care they are easily damaged and have been unobtainium for years. When you get them out just have them professionally done, it's very cheap and they can give you a spray pattern and flow report. Cleanings one thing but the spray pattern is important as well. I'm only making my own rig because very few places clean and flow test side flow injectors. Everyone does top feed injectors like the V11 Sport has. Phil

  7. Well, the latest Lucky Phil Shifter Extender job is in the books. All have been shipped and all have paid. (!) There was an overpayment or two. One grossly over paid. (!!) Gotta love Guzzi Guys. To those guys that overpaid.. don't worry, I'll put it to good use. Most likely fuel for the helicopter that I use to take out to the yacht that I bought with Extender money.. or maybe beer. Thanks all! You guys rock..

  8. https://www.cyclechaos.com/wiki/Moto_Guzzi_V11 I was told by this forum my 2003 V11 falls into a black hole of definition; you weren't kidding. The combination of both Marzocchi forks and the small bikini carbon fairing make it undefinable, cannot find it listed this way anywhere. To further complicate it, it's eggplant in color with lavender mufflers. I keep thinking maybe the fairing was added, but the combination of all these factors, no. Can anyone find this combo listed anywhere online, was it actually a legit MG model?

  9. Moved to 24/7 V11 since, yes, this is a legit V11 model . . . That "CycleChaos" link is a nice try, but they miss the mark on a lot of levels. Sure, the bikini fairing was added, but may have been a dealer option. Everything about it is 2002, except the VIN. We often refer to these 2003 as "carry-over" 2002s. I have a printed Moto Guzzi sales catalog with your very "Sport Naked" shown in that color. [Correction: My printed sales brochure from 2001 (showing 2002 models) calls this "V11 Sport Naked" and my printed 2003 catalog calls it simply "V11 Naked."] Take a look at this V11Lemans.com thread and you will see your V11 (with a reference to the 2003 "carry-over" models):
