My siblings and I grew up halfway down a fairly good hill in a suburban neighborhood. I sped down that hill too many times to count and somehow rarely crashed! Mom was smart enough to forbid skateboarding though. And motorbikes of any kind, though my neighbor down the street had an amazing Rupp. Dad taught my brother and I clutch control by standing a pack of cigarettes on the dash and we had to start on the hill without knocking the cigs over. My first bike came after Mom & Dad had no say in it, followed by my father's stories of riding a war surplus Indian as a young man. The speed thing isn't too much of a thing anymore, but the feedback and interaction sensations are what keeps me in the game... Anyway open roads and good runs are part of the happiness distraction for me....4 points

Very off topic but some here might find interesting. I went to an exhibit during a recent trip to Denver. It was a multimedia presentation of Van Gogh's paintings. It was an infusion of video, animation, venue and music. There were mirrored sculptures as well as two rooms running simultaneous presentations and open doors between the rooms amplifying the experience as "a painting within a painting" with fellow patrons silhouetted that become part of the visual experience. There was a great sound system with electronic and classical music such as the famous Bach cello and Mussorgsky "Pictures at an Exhibition". A few photos, thanks for your indulgence. I know it's not bike related and not mainstream but now that WG doesn't allow these topics I just wanted to post it.3 points

Have you inquired about pricing? Price range from $30 to $100 on that Alibaba link you provided, probably depending on amount of units ordered. MDI sells them for 70 bucks a pop right now out of SoCal with a phone # and email you can reach them at. Unless it’s significantly cheaper, I would think twice about ordering from overseas...1 point

If it cranked over, the clutch switch is conducting. If it won't crank without the lever pulled in, the switch and its connections are functional. The switch is located in the housing for the clutch lever with two small wires going to it.1 point

To expand on this, as the tires (and the air inside them) heats up the pressure will increase. Tires are supposed to heat up a given amount in use. That increase in temp will create around a 10% increase in air pressure. That increase in pressure can be higher, up to 15% higher, if the starting temp was lower (like when it is cold outside). But for typical motorcycle use you should expect to see a 10% increase in tire pressure if the starting temps are typical motorcycle temps and the tires are pushed hard enough to get them up to temp. It is science.1 point

Just like it says. No GRiSO. I took the Mighty Scura. I'm really starting to like this bike. Nice Thousand S. Surprisingly fast Jackal. Got out Saturday with a couple of the local Guzzi guys, Kip and Fast Eddie. Weather was calling for chance of thunder storms. No rain on us but it was hot and damp in the morning and hotter and damper in the afternoon. Midwest humidity, I'm still getting used to it. I made about 300 miles tear assing around South Central Indiana with a stop for lunch and a pint mid trip. We got turned around a couple times with local road construction, bridges out. I guess it's where some of my tax dollars go so I don't feel to bad about it. Nobody ended up in the weeds which is pretty surprising given that around here the road planners love sticking right angle turns at random in otherwise flowing roads. At least the signage guys are on it with big yellow/black Turn Here Stupid arrows. We took turns leading and when you let Eddie lead you better be ready to move. He's on a Jackal and I was pushing pretty well on the Scura to keep close. Kip on the Thousand S had an interesting first long ride on a bike new to him. He had a "lost footing while motionless" tip over and broke his spark plug boot. Bent the tip of plug, lucky not to have snapped the plug. I was able to straighten out the tip and press the lead on. So far so good. Next, failing to charge. Bike was dropping a cylinder, popping and farting flames. Disconnected the headlight and bump started to make the last 70 or so miles home off the remaining battery charge. Hopeful of a quick fix, regulator rectifier, not stator rotor. For my part the Scura didn't miss a beat. Turned 40K and running great. Chuck had installed a new rear so I was able to scrub in all except about the last 1/32" of the rear. Quite a bit of time at +100' where at over 110 there was a slight wag of the bars. Maybe I just need to tuck in a little more. Made it back in one piece, nice day out with friends. Couple more pics. Not sure if the pictures will show up as I've copied the post I made at the GRiSO Ghetto.1 point

Motorcycles aren’t so very much more dangerous than horses, it’s the other drivers that make the situation worse. Great photograph there !1 point

These kind of political comments are totally unnecessary and unwanted on this forum.1 point

I purchased one of those CF lookalike fiberglass covers a few years ago. it was posted somewhere on here. I wanted to match the CF bikini fairing. It's held up and looks good. It weighs more than the OEM aluminum cover. I was too cheap to get the stick-on Guzzi emblem or to buy the actual CF cover that was offered.1 point

Hey, hey, hey! Stop with the "looks after a few miles " thing!1 point

Pretty sure it was @Kostarika that installed one of these covers, sourced from ebay at the time: Also, @Mikko linked us to a US made cover: https://mdicarbonfiber.com/products/ducati-moto_guzzi_1100_sport-alternator-cover1 point

Our V11 sure does look right with certain classic shapes. One of the drivers in this Porsche Club freaked out over the V11 Sport, having "never seen one in person" . . .1 point

Ha ha I should have known they'd become a big deal in my life when as a kid I'd pedal like buggery on my treadlie ( bicycle ) then stop and enjoy the sensation of speed with no effort ( for a brief moment )! It was a long wait till age 17 and my first motorcycle..... Jeez was it that long ago? Cheers Guzzler Ps wow I'd have loved a bike at 13 mate, my folks were not all that chuffed with the idea of them but thankfully didn't stand in the way of me getting one when I could afford it.1 point
