  2. What a worthy resto! Welldone, man! Where are re-pop exhaust available for the V7Sport, now? P.S. - I wonder if the 2002-03 V11 Sport "green" is closer to the original V7Sport Legnano Green than the introductory V11 Sport "electrified" green?

  3. Yesterday I was at the annual Guzzi Club GB national rally. It was a “toss-up” whether to take the Griso or the silver V11, I decided on The Griso as usually there are several spine framed bikes at the rally, but few Griso’s, so in the interest of variety I fueled up and off I went Not one spine framed Guzzi was there, and only one Griso - mine. Masses of Cali EV’s, V85’s, V7’s, & Stelvio’s Anyway we had a great days riding, and stopped at some fine cafes along the way. Note no “gastro” food here, just good old bacon & sausage

  4. Agreed, Docc. I did a pre buy in Indy for a guy out east. This was supposedly an original bike with very low mileage. It certainly looked like that, too. The color was much closer to the Legnano than the electric "greenie."

  5. The injectors your looking for have an industry part # IW 031, These are used on Maserati's, Lamborghini's, Ducati's and Moto Guzzi. Probably Lancia, Fiat and a few others. They are made by Weber Marelli and are available through most automotive supply houses. Avoid the Chineseum Paul B

  7. I didn’t do much to document this “resto” but the synopsis on this old girl are as follows: Late last fall I was alerted to a CL ad about a V7 Sport project 4 hrs away from me. I had no intention of buying such a thing and never really imagined I would. I had four bikes and not much space but called the guy anyway. I got the lowdown on what he had and decided it was worth a look. It had what looked like good bones, tons of spares, numbers matching, en extra 850 hot rod engine (cam, high comp, dual spark) and we settled on a price. It was missing the 4ls front drum and exhaust a few other odds and ends. The PO had a solid lead on a 4ls and re-pop exhausts are available. As I dug into it reality hit. I was prepared to rebuild the engine but it really needed everything, I mean everything. In my parts search I was able to find that this bike had some type of racing provenance m, apparently winning some inaugural class in the 70’s. I can tell you they didn’t win by NOT crashing! Long story short, I’ve been through the old girl completely, all seals, all hardware replaced. I bought it in November, got the frame from PC and then major engine components in January, took my first ride in May! In its current guise I’m running S3/850t foot controls (LH shift, slightly more forward) while I search for correct brackets. Lightened flywheel, somewhat hotter cam, sump spacer w/external oil filter. Otherwise mostly stock including points. The stock starter is ditched in favor of the Bosch gargantuan. Ive got about 1500 miles on it now and still have quite a bit more to go as funds and availability allow. It has a horrible paint job and a pretty scruffy headlight, along with the foot controls at that point I’ll call it good. Riding the short stroke v7 is a lot of fun. Power is similar to 850t/T3 just moved up in the rev range 500rpm. The sports are geared super high! Even lazy shifting has me clicking into 2nd at indicated 50mph (80kmh)! stripping it for PC delivery day current

  11. Interesting. I have a pile of digital photos comparing cars and bikes whose colors are close to the v7 (legnano ?) green. Some pictures show the v11 as being as close to the v7 as anything. Oi! maybe she ends up black! re-pop exhausts available are the pictured lafranconi’s and the original shark gills. IMO shark gills look better, lafranconi’s sound/perform better.

  12. Yes , these injectors are available at better/best vendors . I use my injectors and have them "reconditioned" . The places I use will test , recondition (ultrasonic cleaning procedure) , flow rate / test pattern and match them up w/another if it is out of specs . They will return them w/a printout of the results .

  14. Any chance you might join us -- mostly Guzzisti -- in our "Mutton Run" to Daviess County at the end of September? I'll post a general announcement in a separate thread soon, but it's the St. Mary's picnic in Whitesville on Sunday, 25 September. Here's a slideshow of last May's: May 2022 Kentucky Mutton Run Bill

  15. Hey, it's your V7Sport! It also looks you personally and meticulously built it from a heap. After others gave up. Seems you can paint it anyway you like! A V7Sport in V11Sport green would be > vibrant <

  16. Pretty sure the V7 has more yellow and not as metallic (almost pearlescent). The V11 greenie is unique to any other color.

  18. Just like it says. No GRiSO. I took the Mighty Scura. I'm really starting to like this bike. Nice Thousand S. Surprisingly fast Jackal. Got out Saturday with a couple of the local Guzzi guys, Kip and Fast Eddie. Weather was calling for chance of thunder storms. No rain on us but it was hot and damp in the morning and hotter and damper in the afternoon. Midwest humidity, I'm still getting used to it. I made about 300 miles tear assing around South Central Indiana with a stop for lunch and a pint mid trip. We got turned around a couple times with local road construction, bridges out. I guess it's where some of my tax dollars go so I don't feel to bad about it. Nobody ended up in the weeds which is pretty surprising given that around here the road planners love sticking right angle turns at random in otherwise flowing roads. At least the signage guys are on it with big yellow/black Turn Here Stupid arrows. We took turns leading and when you let Eddie lead you better be ready to move. He's on a Jackal and I was pushing pretty well on the Scura to keep close. Kip on the Thousand S had an interesting first long ride on a bike new to him. He had a "lost footing while motionless" tip over and broke his spark plug boot. Bent the tip of plug, lucky not to have snapped the plug. I was able to straighten out the tip and press the lead on. So far so good. Next, failing to charge. Bike was dropping a cylinder, popping and farting flames. Disconnected the headlight and bump started to make the last 70 or so miles home off the remaining battery charge. Hopeful of a quick fix, regulator rectifier, not stator rotor. For my part the Scura didn't miss a beat. Turned 40K and running great. Chuck had installed a new rear so I was able to scrub in all except about the last 1/32" of the rear. Quite a bit of time at +100' where at over 110 there was a slight wag of the bars. Maybe I just need to tuck in a little more. Made it back in one piece, nice day out with friends. Couple more pics. Not sure if the pictures will show up as I've copied the post I made at the GRiSO Ghetto.

  19. While I hope Guzzi does come out with a modern Lemans / V11, neither of those two would do it for me. Too angular, to busy. I would rather something more Italian looking, something with fewer lines but the lines it has are right. But happy if Guzzi comes out with a new big block, as the current small block doesn't do it for me (never mind that we own one).

  20. Back in the day, lots of us would use that emoji to represent the elusive "gremlin" in our V11 . . .
