We can discuss this under the pavilion. I am still scarred from waking up on the floor in a dorm shower room at UK in 1969 after a terrible blind date. I had tried to drown my sorrows with barrel-size quantities of Maker's Mark. Almost worked. Having it -- and all of Beam -- now owned by a Japanese sake company doesn't help. On the positive side, it is distilled in Loretto, a lovely place in the heart of old Catholic Country, where "my people" came in the late 18th century after being run out of Maryland. None of us would enjoy Kentucky bourbon of any brand had the Puritans settled there instead of corn-whiskey-making Catholics from Wales (my folks) and all over. Back to readying for launch tomorrow. As a minnow in this field (er, or err, a baby wabbit in this pond?), I’d just like to draw our attention to just how fucking beautiful the design of the modern brake caliper is. A damn triumph of simple and effective design. So few parts, so reliable, so easy for a home mech to service. The ins and outs of the gradual refinements are interesting if it pertains to your personal use of them, but it’d be sad to see us fall out over it!2 points

The V7 is ready ... sans the too much stuff I think I can pack on it -- but sure glad launch is tomorrow, not today! Bill2 points

Otherwise, my luggage space is getting tight, what with all the "priorities" . . .2 points

SpineRaiders can always be counted on to structure their luggage around the priorites . . . Bourbon ✔️ Grappa ✔️ IPA ✔️ I know asking this is as dull as box of dirty wrenches, but is anyone bringing a computer OS running GuzziDiag? (If so, I'll bring my cables . . . )2 points

Ah ha! Of course! 😬 Thanks man, I have a koso combined clock that only has one warning lamp. I had decided to wire it up to the oil warning rather than the battery warning. So naturally i was not warned when my reg failed haha. I think i’ll pop a lamp somewhere to wire it up to. For me, every day is an eleckrickity-learning day.1 point

What a clean bike, but waiting for PJPR01's question, can you ride it ? Did you say no sign of fuel inside the trottle house ? Ign on = 1 spray, finger inside trottlehouse, shoud be a little wet ? You will get there. Cheers Tom.1 point

I see that your pump is on top of the spine. Mine is actually underneath, but I imagine that there's no functional difference. There is also a lot of hoses shown in the picture. As I understand it, the outlet from the pump goes to the filter, then injector, then other injector, then regulator return to tank. There's no other fuel pressure hoses needed.1 point

How long does it run after you spray starter fluid? You can take it for a drive and it will not die? If it will run forever and idle (with a fan blowing on it to not overheat the bike sitting and idling for 10-15 minutes), then you're getting spark, fuel delivered, so you're saying the problem is only in the ignition phase, i.e. getting it started. I assume you haven't hooked up Guzzidiag yet to it to see if there are any other faults being thrown? That has to mean that injectors are working, plugs/wires are working since you're burning off the starter fluid almost instantaneously, if idling decently, TPS is OK enough to let it run etc. The "choke" isn't really a choke per se...but you've figured that out now. Bugger...what else could contribute to the lack of starting? I take it the process for trying to start with starter fluid vs. standard process involves the same parameters, side stand up or down, clutch lever in or out...all the same?1 point

Thanks @docc 10k mile bike, ran when parked, stored for over a decade in a man cave in San Diego. After going through it, it starts and runs while spraying starter fluid in the air cleaner. My next steps will be to crank the bike with the injectors removed and certify fuel being delivered. Then, with plugs removed, certify spark being delivered.1 point

Anyone looking for a room at Tellico Lodge might want to check with Bryan. I had to cancel the other day room 101. Should have said it sooner.1 point

The choke is nothing but a throttle kicker to increase the idle speed .1 point

So, help me out, here, with some history on this V11 . . . You have never seen it run? The classic, "Ran when parked scenario?" And it was stored in a cool, dry place, or under a tarp behind the shed? For how long?1 point

Joel has a lathe with a plastic "face" in the chuck that holds the lens/bezel while he uses a ball bearing in the tool holder to "roll" the bezel tight. The tailstock holds the speedo or tach against the face.1 point

Impressive musicianship! I feel kinda better that two of them shredded their bows toward the end, while scowling at the score . . .1 point

Sounds like you were having a bad day Phil..We all have them...( Especially me, I've been on the wagon for 2 weeks). I hope to continue to see you here as you are a valuable contributor imo. Cheers!1 point

Thanks Docc, I'm in Copperopolis, Ca. I'm picking up an 03 Lemans in two weeks in Indiana and riding back to California.1 point

What a travesty. For one, docc doesn't "kick [people] off the board." I suppose the more considerable concern for us, as a small community, is our "tone" or general decorum. This is as grumpy a thread I've seen in a long, long time. Over what? Brakes? "Delivery?" Some perceived slight to one's knowledge or contribution? FWIW, I was learning a little more and more all along the discussion. Until it got unnecessarily "personal."1 point
