Those were the three V11 spine frames. (No V11 LeMans !!!!!! ) Two more spines with pressureangle's wicked yellow 1100 Sport-i and Josh's very fine SPOrT 1100 . . .6 points

Before that gets out of hand, let me say that overlook was the only one (going or coming) on the Cherohala that was not socked-in with 100 foot visibility drizzling fog. (Came just in time, too) . . . Joe's sweeeeet Rosso Mandello Randy's very fine Coppa Italia (complete with Randy!)6 points

Five other nice Guzzis. (Two "CARCs", a Tonti LeMans, a badass 1400 MDX-21) . . . and BillHagan's V7III . . . Inaugural South'n SpineRaiders :5 points

I kept telling myself, "Coulda been (lots) worse." At least the Sport had the courtesy not to completely lock up the front brakes until she and I were at a complete stop and out of the dense fog. Four different Guzzis with brake issues of some type. As I have often said lately, "No reason to plan a TechSession. Somebody's bike already has one planned for us. Just: Get There. Bring Tools."3 points

Not a V11 topic, but whilst I was in the carpark yesterday, a 1964 Mini Cooper S rolled in. A total automotive legend, winner of multiple rallies in the 1960’s; star of the original Italian Job film with Micheal Caine (not the rubbish remake). Would blow cars with 4 times the engine capacity away on a twisty circuit or a mountain stage. Pure class, perfect compliment to my green Guzzi V112 points

Might be better no one can clearly see what's going on. Spin control is easier this way . . .2 points

Oh, yes. There is clear photographic evidence of the re-badging. Note to Spine Raiders who ask, "Can I ride my (something else)?" Why, sure. Until you show up with your (something else) the third time and it leaves re-badged . . .1 point

London, hope you ordered a spring from MG to keep the dealer alive, but a Chuck spring shoud go in there. Problem goone. Cheers Tom.1 point

^^ I am still not aware of a single failure of any V11 that has the "new" spring installed. Not one. And that's how it should be. There are other springs in the shift mechanism, and they never break. Was it really 2017 that we started doing that? Wow... time flies.1 point

Think it was due to crap on the pads. Thanks to the 18th Annual Spine Rainery it seems to have cleaned out.1 point

Sorry if this was mentioned earlier, but how old is the gas in the tank? Did you try draining it completely, and then put in fresh gas (non ethanol even better if possible). Given that the starter fluid works, but the gas doesn't leads me to believe this gas is not igniting...maybe full of water? Any chance the fuel filter is blocked somehow, the tube is clean and has been inspected?1 point

Actually, the "high idle lever" simply nudges the throttle slightly open. The start-up enrichening is handled by the ECU on every start-up regardless of ambient or engine temperatures.1 point

Yep. That worked. Bike now in neutral. Thanks again. Spring is ordered from Gutsibits so should be with me soon. 🤞yes, quite a newcomer. I bought this Greenie last year but my previous bikes included a 1000S, a Griso, a Cali EV and a Stelvio NTX. Great forum.1 point

Ideally, you should put it in neutral to put the side plate back on anyway. Can you get the rear wheel off the ground? If so, you will need to move the shift selector arms along the two rods until you find neutral. It takes a little guess work at first , but soon you will find how they engage. You can rock the wheel back and forth until it spins freely - and you've found neutral. I notice you've made three posts, so assume you're new here. Chuck designed and improved "unbreakable" shift spring and I had them manufactured and still have a lot of them on hand. I'll send you a PM.1 point

Back in the mists of time a PC was the only way in the aftermarket to modify the map. The problem was, and remains, that they are a crude and simple device allowing only limited modification to certain aspects of the map. There are now numerous, better, alternatives that have the added advantage of not having to interfere with the loom and giving full access to if not all, then at least many more aspects of the map. The 15M and 15M-RC controllers are a completely open book as far as map manipulation is concerned. A PC I think appeals to some as it is often sold and perceived as a 'Magic' plug in filled with mystical Ju-Ju and the fitting of one will deliver the mystical/mechanical equivalent of a 'Laying on of hands' which of course it doesn't! They are also often marketed in the same way by people who really don't have much of a clue so the gullible are easily exploited. Quite simply there are many better options for enhancing performance, (And by 'Performance' I am not simply referring to power and torque figures.) than a plug-in box.1 point

Longest reigning Monarch in the UK, and a long, full life. But from my (US-centric) point of view the whole Royal Family thing seems unnecessary and ineffectual. But as counterpoint to my own statement, I can't help but feeling the world would be a little bit better today if King Charles and Queen Diana were ascending. Imagine how much good she would have done in the last 25 years. And Diana would have ridden a Moto Guzzi. Actually, she probably would have a Triumph with a super cool flag tank.1 point

Bill, that sensor is not particularly...sensitive The repair doesn't have to be pretty to be functional. If you like, bring it along to the 'raid and we'll set it right. If at all possible, bring it attached to the bike.1 point

I'm seeing three tire strategies (and maybe a fourth, if you play your cards right) . . . 1) Calculate the tire life, strategize the lead-up riding, and make it home with at least a couple hundred miles to spare ( sketchy-me, again, The Gambler/ Jack of Spades ). ♠️ 2) Use up the existing tire with the lead-up riding and arrive at the SpineRaid with a 100% tire. (Randy, The Jack of Diamonds ). ♦️ 3) Wear out truck and trailer tires, but preserve motorcycle tires. "Get There. / Bring Tools." (A known, valid, strategy. Our most mature, and most calculated, element, The Jack(s) of Clubs ) : ♣️♣️ 4) Discover a tire fail and enjoin in the solution. Pray for divine intervention. (The Jack of Hearts. ) ♥️1 point

Good morning -- or whatever it is when and where you read this -- from the top of Virginia where we are still tidying up the battlefield and shooting the wounded after the latest iteration of Moto Grappa Tech Days. The slideshow and its captions tell the story without more, so I'll just post the link with the only intro being that it's mostly about wrenching, bench racing, competitive eating, bourbon, beer, and BS. As with my other Smugmug albums, the link opens in "landscape collage," meaning you don't have to slog through every one of the (yes, I know, too many ) pix to see all or the ones, if any, that might interest you. Hover your cursor over individual pix to see captions if you care. MGTD MMXXII Bill Logged1 point
