  1. The regulator has to sense a voltage differential to know what to do. A possible failure here could be that the regulator is not sensing ground. Use a jumper wire to provide a secure ground to the regulator body, or if it has a ground wire, then between the ground wire and battery negative to see if it makes a difference.

  4. The root of the rise in petroleum product prices in the US is that Europe has to import a huge amount to make up for the tomfoolery in Ukraine and Russia. You, and I, are paying for the economic pressure NATO is bringing to bear on Russia.

  5. Hi, i'm new in the forum, sorry if it isn't a v11 related problem but i hope you can help me. I'm experiencing a very strange problem, from the regulator of my 1997 guzzi xpa 750 (ducati energia) i've a voltage from 13 to 17v accordingly to rpm increase, two batteries are gone and changing the regulator didn't change the situation. From the stator i've circa 90/100v ac at "max" rpm. i've read about this issue appened to other owners, have you experienced something similar? i've read several interventions about this kind of issues from @Kiwi_Roy user here. ì've attached a video to better explain. Thanks and sorry for my english. Filippo https://sendvid.com/z7jdcd3b

  6. Addendum: A buyer should verify that the VIN is outside the early gearbox recall range, or that the recall was performed . . . https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=9199 5,100 miles? Someone should do the first tune-up here, pretty soon . . .

  7. So very much original about this V11 Sport. Yes, those are the US spec fuel tank evap canisters. Very unusual to find those intact. Also the rear, and front/side, reflectors. Even the front signal "extenders" are in place. Bosch relays in the critical positions (not a bad thing). Added SAE 12v connector, but with no other signs of electrical modifications. Very little scuff/ wear in the typical places (seat mounting tabs, fuel filler, alt cover). It wouldn't surprise me that this is a true 5100 mile Sport (the tach needles have been known to fade in advance of the speedo needle, for unknown reasons). A wee scuff on the tip of the clutch lever and maybe the front left turn signal is a little skewed, but original head guards and spark plug boots. No touch-down grind on the sidestand or any visible cracking around bodywork mounting points (not all the images are clear). The clutch fluid looks amber, but not black. Brake fluids look clear. Those are not original LaFranconi canisters, but cannot identify what they are, otherwise. Perhaps they are modified LaFranconi (polished, de-restricted, custom passenger boot guards)? Oil cooler brackets are changed (early aluminum ones failed. Warranty replacements were black steel). Aftermarket horns. The Rizoma bars, Givi fairing, and rear rack are not to my taste, but neither is highly admired Dom Perignon. Missing Eagle badge from the the right Frame Side Plate (and brake pedal index O-ring), but the >fragile< brake pedal and shift pedal levers look original. $6,000? Someone should get this nice V11 Sport! (I really just want the front fender. )

  8. Taking advantage of today's strong US dollar to make Euro-denominated parts feel cheaper. This is probably a good time for US members to buy from Italy and UK too. My Joe Caruso gears would have felt 20% cheaper if I bought them today.

  9. Sorry to hear about that. I know a lot of people rely on oil heat in the US Northeast. Here in California, we're getting ready to ban sales of new natural gas heaters (in 2030). So I guess electricians will be busy installing new sub-panels in homes to provided dedicated power to heaters. I've got solar panels going up in a few weeks - Federal tax credit of 30%, combined with reduced electrical bill (and protection against future electric rate hikes) makes this an easy financial decision.

  10. Went to the New Order concert in Philadelphia Sunday - 3 of the original band members still kicking it! But best part was for the encore they did two Joy Division songs - nice homage to Ian Curtis: Love Will Tear Us Apart: https://photos.app.goo.gl/81TWw26dfaceQuxD6 Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk

  12. ^ very nice. I used to play the hell out of Dire Straits and Mark's solo work. But it's been a while. Time to revisit those timeless classics, including one of my all time favorite songs:

  14. This captures my heart about nine different ways: EmmyLou, fiddle, Kopfler, Gibson Les Paul, motor racing, Emmy Lou, another Les Paul, more motor racing, and more EmmyLou. The musicianship, stage performance, audio, videography (Okay, so, thirteen ways.) Did I mention EmmyLou?

  15. Mark Etheridge nporsoteSdg6t8 . Moto Guzzi Classics . Please CALL, DO NOT TEXT (562) 986-0070 Hey Doc, I just copied over his info from one of his ads. I don't have an email address for him, he posts on Face Book Guzzi bikes and parts for sale, so he probably could be reached that way; I know from Chuck's comments, I think Mark is very old school and not on a computer very often. I don't have a physical address for him, but he's in Long Beach California. fyi

  18. I'm with docc on this. Get the rear wheel up and your eyes in close. If the shift lever touches the pork chop at any point it's enough to cause the problem.

  19. Just for reference,I addressed notchy shifting and false neutrals, with replacing single plate clutch to twin plate, changing spring and opening pre-selector assembly numerous times (spring had already been updated with newer spring) and multitude of control adjustments ...nothing made a difference, for yucks, took a whole pre-selector assembly off a complete transmission I bought cheap, just in case, and she shifted like new.maybe reassembling old pre-selector unit and greasing and checking for anything amiss may make it good again, but it hadn't been touched and went from proper shifting to bad shifting in a short period, may be worth keeping it as a possibility something may be slightly out of spec in there...

  21. ^^^^^^^^^^^ My lawyer will be contacting you. As for current events, Kathi -- sag wagon driver and support-team supervisor -- and I are in Daviess County, Kentucky, for mutton and more. I rode the Griso; two friends joined on other Guzzis. A very WET first day, then a grand ride on Friday. The big mutton event is today. More pix on return, but here's one ... Bill

  22. EBay? Or the usual suspects. Pinwall? Harpers? Guzzi Classics? Although Mark is mainly older bikes he may well have one or two wrecks of CARC bikes. If I wasn't retiring I'd be seriously thinking of doing for CARC bikes what the bloke in Canada who owns every spare Laverda part in the world has done! There'll be a living in it for someone with a bit of foresight!

  23. Oh, yes. There is clear photographic evidence of the re-badging. Note to Spine Raiders who ask, "Can I ride my (something else)?" Why, sure. Until you show up with your (something else) the third time and it leaves re-badged . . .

  24. Ha! I was that guy ... but you know that. As for this SSR, I have yet to decide which Guzzi gets the nod. The Norge is now, sigh, history. Tales of that sale on site for the price of a beer (or better). Kathi has been looking forward to the XVIIIth, but our Seattle daughter just made her a conflicting offer of two weeks with the three grands out there, so I'll sadly solo it. Speaking of grands, one of our Maryland set is visiting. Plan to give her a ride on the EV today. She is game, but worried as she thinks "motorcycles are so dangerous." That from a 13-YO who does this every weekend, and just back from a blue-ribbon "event(ing)" in N.C.! Anyway, looking forward to the SSR albeit sans supervisor. Bill

  25. I received my 1986 copy of Mick Walker's Moto Guzzi Twins today. It is Walker's third published work (the first two were on Ducati). I also have works of his from 1992 and 1999. I was curious whether he became more emphatic about the tractor connection over time, but the language in the 1999 text is identical to that of 1986. Having reviewed also the works of Mario Colombo (1977, translated to English in 1990), Ian Falloon, David Styles, and Greg Field, I would be comfortable holding the opinion that it is, in fact, Mick Walker who started this whole misconception that the Guzzi motorcycle V-twin started in a tractor. It becomes a story line that he repeated in print for at least thirteen years, and was repeated by others, so as to be repeated today as if it were true and well founded. Walker was certainly prolific in his writing career with some 130 titles on bikes from all over the world. Yet, Walker was patently wrong that the 3x3 Mule engine was designed by Carcano and that "The [motorcycle] V-twin power unit itself started life as the engine for the . . . three-wheeler . . . " Colombo published the earliest work I can find on the Guzzi motorcycle V-twin (1977) and clearly states "the [motorcycle] engine was a completely different unit . . ." than the previous car and 3x3 units. This is certainly corroborated by interviews with the engineers themselves. I suppose it might be beating a dead horse, but even recently a well respected US motorcycle magazine printed another elaborate version of the "tractor connection" in an otherwise nice article about a very interesting Guzzi. Anyone using Walker as a reference is going to keep repeating the same misinformation. So, write your editors! Carry the torch! Beat the drum! :mg:

  27. The war is part of the answer, the other is the Go Green or else policies that predated any war. I’m from KY where my company I work for is exposed to many industrial job sites, power plants and Coal mines included. During the Obama era, the EPA pressured TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) to not keep their coal power plants up to date w regulations. In turn by default, a local Powerplant, TVA Paradise (historically powered the eastern US power grid, not Ky) was completely closed a couple years ago, without the ability to reverse course, a total tear down. There is a natural gas power-plant planned for its replacement, 👍🏼 but without a major gas pipeline to supply it. 🤔 While visiting Gibson Co coal in South Western Indiana recently, I asked who are some of the major buyers at the mine. I was surprised to learn, a large portion was being bought by Germany to supply their newly reopened coal power-plants. (4500 miles away). 😮 So cheap American coal energy is bypassing shuttered local power plants to supply German power plants, to keep the lights on (hopefully) during the Ukraine/Russian war. What a cluster of go Green policies gone haywire. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Sorry about the cheaper energy coal in my backyard rant.

  28. Well, I have removed starter put up rear wheel and done about everything possible and it just will not click from 6th to a lower gear, I thought it was going down to 5th but actually is between gears. Shift lever is clear and working. I am resigned to it being internal at this point, only shop I can find in NC is booked until December.
