  1. Disclaimer: I have no financial interest in anything. I'm not going to link or even capitalize proper nouns. If you're interested you will figure it out. I searched for "elk" and "elk grove" and found nothing. So here goes. I found elk grove power parts in January. They are a piaggiao dealer and had good prices on Guzzi parts. I ordered a bunch of stuff and waited. And waited. They say up front it happens on piaggio time. But if piaggio shows it as a good part number it will show up. And waited. I figured I'd get my money back if nothing else. Behold. Stuff finally showed up. New seat for under one fifty. New Ballabio brake and clutch hoses under a c-note each. New production lights and turn signals cheaper than you can buy used on ebay. There is still stuff back ordered but I figure they are the real deal. The first name of the special order parts man is bishop. He's been good to me and I will inform him of this post so he can check it out. That's all I got. God bless, go in peace cdr

  2. The electrical messing about continues 😀. I really was getting fed up struggling with the 4 wires to each battery terminal. So I fitted 2 busbars (is that the correct term? Terminal blocks? Battery blocks?) to allow a single wire to each of the battery terminals. Handmade from bits of this and that and cobbled together. They fit on either side of the frame, inside the rear fairing ‘wings’. Battery disconnects/re-connects really quickly and easily now- bit like my monza ha!

  3. Thanks for all your thoughts on this. For what its worth I went with the Electrosport 515 as recommended by Stugnu. I managed to get it for £10.00 less (£120) from M&P here in the UK. Fitted and working well...no more flickering battery light. Thanks for the recommendation. Speedo 60 degree bevel madness next....... I bought a new one from Stein Dinse. It broke within 20miles. Aaaaagh!

  23. Speedfrog is right, is my guess. There are a few clues here- First, you had no battery installed so it seems unlikely that anything electrical has changed. Second, your fuel pump failed; Third, your injectors are dry. I'll suggest that both the fuel pump and injectors are plugged with sludge from dried fuel and need a simple cleaning. You can test power to the injectors with a simple 'noid' light, purchased or made from a 6v light bulb and some soldered wire. My hillbilly shade-tree dark side says get some acetone or MEK, some long handled cotton swabs, and wash the injector tips to see if you can start any dribbling that way. In any case, after sitting that long, I'd have the injectors cleaned and replace all the fuel lines anyway.

  24. After 6 years without running, I would take the injectors out and have them professionally cleaned and tested, replace fuel filter and make sure you have fresh fuel in the tank.

  26. Yes just 2 wires. 4 seasons with the first 847, all perfect. Just sharing experienses here. Have one ready for my hot rod V11 1999, winther enjoyment. Charging 14.73V idling, never above 15V. No worries about the 30amp fuse, just +++. Cheers Tom

  27. Shindengen 847 is happy with Lithium or AGM, by all reports. I put one on my '74 Aermacchi 2-wire alternator and it's steady at 14.4v, even with only 140 watts.

  28. Out of interest @Tomchri are you just using 2 of the available phases (2 of the 3 yellow wires) on the Shindengen 847 and leaving the 3rd disconnected? It's what I'd like to do with my Sport 1100 and HiCam engined bikes that use the same charging system as the V11 Not a cheap option, but I've not got much faith in the alternative, specifically stating they won't support batteries with low internal resistance (LiFe and AGM batteries).

  29. The stator upgrade is still the OEM replacement from that supplier, but with improved strain relief and heat shielding.

  30. I've been using this combination all along. Although, I must emphasize that I monitor the static voltage as my bike sits and properly charge/ "condition" the PC545 when the discharge reaches 80% (12.65v) as per Odyssey's instructions. IIRC, I was fitting a new regulator at about 30,000 miles until I grounded the case and started being diligent with the battery conditioning. FWIW, I also isolate the regulator while using a charger. This procedure has been often stated as unnecessary, but my 30 amp circuit breaker makes it easy for me to do and I figure it can't hurt.

  31. I use this OEM replacement with the bullet connectors changed to spades for that supplier's improved stator. (Case grounded to the timing chest). https://www.euromotoelectrics.com/product-p/edl450-voltrect.htm

  33. you are right concerning old threads Since the early days of the "open the cans" thread I modified another V11s exhaust cans in the same way. This bike responded even better than my own V11 on the modification. Additionnally I took some photo shoots during the work. This convinced me to post the results again. The gains are not so small: 3 RWHP on my bike and 4.5 HP for the second bike. And you can feel the difference while driving, it's not just dyno figures. 90 % of the aftermarkeet cans that are fitted to the V11s around do not show any bigger gains without A/F ratio changes. But my modified cans did also benefit from mapping changes: Torque climbed from 8.8 to 9.5 mkg, max power was about the same but the gains between 5k to 8k were up to 6HP. When I fitted open Leovinci cans, neither max power nor torque was any better, only the torque minimum at 4000 was slightly up from 7 mkg to 7.5. But you still have the heavy stock cans. It depends on you if you like the looks or not. The modifications are unvisible from outside as all the welding seams are underneath the oval light alloy covers. There is everything written on the cans an officer likes to see and they will never arouse suspicion as they are only marginally louder than stock - slightly deeper tone and even at high rpms just a bit louder. That's because the complete volume of the cans is still used for noise reduction while flow resitance is reduced a lot. And weight helps reducing noise. There is only one disadvantage: you can't bye it cheap on ebay. You have to du some work yourself. Not everyone is able to do this and not everybody would like it. But for those who can and like to spend the 2 - 3 hours of time there are good gains for your .
