Not sure who owns the Norton name, now. Reminds me of Indian (who finally found solid ground). But, you know, efforts like this make me ever-so-much-more proud of my V11 Sport and the continuous Mandello del Lario heritage.4 points

Lovely LeMans. And that Norge looks positively sporty in red with gold wheels, and sans bags. BTW - the thread title say no words, but this thread started a long time ago, and there have been more words than pictures from the start.3 points

You guys are killin me. I have an engine apart, I have wings and tailfeathers to rib stitch.. I have a wing mod to do to Mouser. I *do* have the material.. I can take it to the waterjet shop on a nice day. A ride would be good. Unlike wimmens, though.. I only do one thing at a time. It's in the queue.3 points

One of my co-workers bought a 961 a couple months back. Once he had Dave Moss dial in the suspension, (just like any other contemporary bike), said it comes the closest to feeling like his Scura. Loaded with personality, (quirks), it has that "feel it" rather than "hear it" vibe.2 points

Possibly I would buy one. I think I could have been tempted by a CARC LeMans or Daytona. The new V100 could be a nice platform for a retro-styled version of one of those, and that could tempt me. I haven't bought many new bikes, but I did get that Ducati Sport 1000 new in 2006. I couldn't wait to get that thing... and it was glorious on the back roads, but downright miserable getting there. The V11s aren't quite as fast as the Duc, and don't handle quite as well. But as you said, they are fast enough, full of character, and very nice designs. To my eye, the Thruxton R is as good looking as the Norton, and gives the same level of nod to the brand's heritage. But if money is no object...2 points

If for some reason Moto Guzzi would get out the old molds and manufacture a V11 Sport 2 valve big block again would you buy one? For me the answer is yes, but it wouldn't be light years ahead of the times. Meaning it would be full of character, not blindingly fast, and bloody gorgeous. Oh and typically expensive, to me that is what the Norton 961 represents itself to be. You have to remember, I bought a V11 Sport in 2002 and again in 2022, and after a mild refresh, I couldn't be happier with the bike. The horsepower on my bike didn't seem low when following Docc, Josh & Randy in North Carolina & TN on some brilliant curvy roads. Don't let Docc fool you, he rode smooth and most of the time hauled @ss. The Spine Frames kept a very respectable, rarely legal street pace.2 points

Hey Joe, I have the same set-up on my 02 Lemans, they are held on by zip ties, work quite well and you cant see it like the huggers, (which I'm not particularly fond of). Nice, clean, and open.1 point

Is the name still owned by that grifting fraud who took people's money and then declared bankruptcy, again and again and again!? Personally I think the Notrun name has been so poisoned now I don't see how it could ever 'Come Back'. Apart from that there can't be many people under the age of sixty who know anything at all about its history and most who do know exactly what a huge clusterf*ck the demise of the British motorcycle industry was and how awful their post war products were.1 point

Thanks for keeping track, Docc.. I'm up to my ears in projects, but if there is enough interest I'll do one more run.1 point

I like my frogs dredged in flour, salt & pepper then sauteed in butter with garlic, topped with parsley and a little lemon juice.. but only the legs(gambalunga?) mind you! Some people pay good money for "Cuisses de Grenouille" at fancy restaurants, and for others just the thought of it will make them queasy... it really is just about what one considers valuable.. but that taste, let me tell you, is deliciously tangible.1 point

@LowRyter's "sad face” reaction to my post, above, is intellectually interesting. If he meant that he was sad because I might do more damage to my GuzzisI, I am touched. Moreover, he and others who feel similarly will be pleased to know that I was able only to go down a few minutes and mostly just hooked up my EV to the battery tender. I am capable of causing sparks from that, but got lucky today. If, OTOH, he meant that PayPal should do as it did here because he shares P2’s view of things, it would seem that he illustrates my intended point. By that I mean, if he disagreed with PP’s position on a given political view, he would be appalled by, not applauding, the action. I am, of course, imputing to him things he may not have meant at all. If so, I have a fine unopened bottle of high-end bourbon waiting for him, tho he’ll after to come visit the Moto Grappa — where he and all Guzzisti are, with regard whatever to their political views, welcome. But, it seems to me that a business — especially a mega-business on the web — should be politically neutral. I am always bemused by those who will not buy a product and want others to boycott businesses because of the political, religious, or whatever views of the owners. That is, IMO, a personal matter and none of my concern. I distinguish that from a business that panders politics to the public in its marketing. Boycott away because they have chosen that course as a tool. Ben & Jerry's comes to mind, tho it's been a struggle to get Kathi to give up Cherry Garcia. I suppose — but I must tread there warily — that most of us would agree that a person, business, institution, or any other entity that espoused, e.g., pedophilia, human sacrifice, or similar shocking, immoral, or illegal conduct, deserves our contempt and more. But, nearly everything else falls within that realm of ideas over which we — at least one hopes we — might reasonably differ, discuss, debate … and vote. At the ballot box, not the cash register. When a major business entity essentially chooses sides — and it doesn’t matter which side — and acts to squelch those who see things differently, it does us all harm. Those who smugly see themselves as morally superior to the rest of us find nothing wrong with such censorship of speech. They seemingly think that what they do is so right that no one could object without being unworthy of consideration. Indeed, they think that those dissenting voices should be silenced. When, however, the position is not in keeping with their own, well, that’s a different matter. They will then learn that one can fight city hall (and the government generally) and win. That is hardly the case with the suits at corporate HQ’s. I thus am, as you might suppose from all of the above, no cheerleader for corporate activism no matter which "side" it is on. Life is too short to engage in this sort of discussion on a Guzzi forum. I’ll be happy to continue this at the Moto Grappa, under the pavilion at Tellico Lodge, down by The River in Kentucky on a Mutton Run, or most any place where we might gather in moto-fellowship and share our thoughts along with something worthy of our sipping. Until then, well, I’m out. Best to all, Bill1 point

I really like these bikes, their Old School DNA is very similar to our beloved V11 Sports.0 points

Pete, They are owned by India's TVS motorcycle company, who rebuilt their factory to improve quality. I think they are also honoring 28 orders from the previous company, so maybe their integrity and quality improved, time will tell. https://nortonmotorcycles.com/stories/tvs-announces-100m-investment-in-norton-motorcycles/0 points

Those above videos have a lot of information about the bike and the company. Worth watching. I am attracted to the looks of the Norton, but it's performance doesn't seem so great. I think buyers will be either speculating collectors, wealthy eccentrics, or die-hard Norton fans. I don't fit any of those categories so if I wanted another modern retro-styled cafe-ish bike, my money would go to (in order of preference): MV Augusta Superveloce Triumph Thruxton R A clean, unmodified Ducati Sport 1000 monoposto (I had one of those for a while and it was great fun... investment hindsight says I should have bought the Paul Smart version and stored it)0 points
