Gots them too. Oldest rider award.. Yeah, it's stylish. Looks and sounds a lot like bikes I rode as a kid without the constant hassle.. very pleasant to ride. Slowly.6 points

The Becker Technik stand can be had from Stein-Dinse for quite a bit cheaper... that’s where I got mine, 19% VAT deducted from final price when shipped outside the EU and about $30 in shipping. Bundle it up with miscellaneous parts you might need and it makes the shipping from Germany worthwhile. I’ve placed a few order from SD and I’ve always received the goods in 3 to 5 days!! It’s as if they have their own airplanes or something.. https://www.stein-dinse.biz/product_info.php?products_id=1324 points

BECKER TECHNIK makes a nice workshop stand for the V11, it clamps onto the lower bolts of the side plates(“pork chops”) and is very secure and safe. My bike came with the original MG stand and the pork chops were all chewed up as a result of its repeated (mis?)use. No chance of that with the BT as it uses two 1/2 drive - 18mm sockets to locate the holding pins onto the nuts and locks into place. Once clamped-on, you use it pretty much like a regular centerstand. You can also use a 1/2 in. drive breaker bar to aid into lifting/lowering the bike. I only find it necessary for lowering the bike when the front wheel is held by the chock and the bike cannot roll forward freely. And unlike the MG stand, it doesn’t have a long handle that sticks out the side, an added bonus when used on the lift where that long handle juts overboard and has to be propped up. https://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=29954 points

Chuck posted a photo of his bike on WG. It's a stylish thing. I think Chuck probably wears tweed now and smokes a pipe when he rides.4 points

There isn't anything special about a Guzzi as far as stands go. There is that model specific stand that Guzzi sold, I believe they called it a central stand. Item #6 in the parts catalog under Tools Not sure if you can still get that workshop stand. But most any generic stands will work. Some stands require bobbins be added to the rear swing arm, that requires additional work. But a stand that just uses rubber coated wings to pick up the rear swing arm, like this one, will work. https://www.cyclegear.com/accessories/oxford-big-black-bike-rear-stand?sku_id=978434 That one is just a cheap stand, not one I specifically use. The ones I use are old and no longer sold. If I were buying one today I would probably buy a stand from PitBull, as they are a quality brand. But they are twice what a cheapy stand will cost you. On the bright side, not only are they better designed and built than the cheapy stands but they are modular so you can upgrade it later to spools if you add spools to the swing arm. Spools will be more secure.3 points

I never had a bike without a center stand, sure makes it harder to perform service. What is a paddock stand I can consider? I can harness the front end to a truss and raise it off the floor for front end work, but the rear has to be stabilized to do that. Tires and fluids are first on the list. Blown away that the front tire is original...and the ad said good rubber. That was some BS. I'll do a search but a shop manual is also first on the list, so I am open to suggestions. Thanks!2 points

I use ratchet-straps on my handle bars, attached to the garage joist. I also use a car jack for stabilizing. When I recently did the front fork seals, I actually cradled the bike under a ladder with ratchet-straps! Please post a few pics when you can, I'd like to see it!2 points

Workshop Manual: https://www.thisoldtractor.com/mg_manuals/workshop_manual_v11_en.pdf Parts catalog: https://www.parts-motoguzzi.com/moto-guzzi-motorcycles/1100-MOTO-GUZZI-MOTORCYCLES/V11/2000/V-11-Sport--Mandello/1004 @activpop, be certain to use the Parts Catalog for V11 1999-2001 Sport/Rosso Mandello. I have found it very useful to buy a hard copy from an ebay seller as an adjunct to the online parts sources.2 points

Lucky day. Use Murphy's Oil Soap on the leather (or fabric) to take the gas out. May take a couple tries but it will eventually work. Then apply Mink Oil to seal the leather and any residual smell.2 points

I love Mexican food, but it's a rare treat. We don't have a lot of that around here and I'm sure the quality wouldn't compare to what's served down south. I'm not that big a poutine fan,it's gone crazy now with all the fancy gourmet types. I used to work with a guy and his favorite was a big platter of fries covered in spaghetti sauce with mozzarella cheese.eeww There is one famous poutine place way up in Barry's Bay, Charlie D's, that I sometimes ride up to for lunch. I've always wanted to try his OktoberFest Poutine, which is Sauerkraut W spicy German Sausage over the fries, curds on top,,,but I get up there so rarely I have to go with my favorite standard order; The Hunters Poutine, which is, big chunks of onion w big tender chunks of venison, stewed up in a burnt dark brown gravy, heaped over the fries covered in snapping fresh, salty curds,,,uuummm,,,it's to die for.2 points

I've never had poutine. Not sure what it is. Never had cheese curds either and don't know what it is either. I did get some local Guadalajaran Mexican food for lunch. The blue collar crowd was having a late lunch to watch Mex vs Saudi world Cup. I read Mexico won but still lost. The food is outstanding and the sauces and pickled stuff are quite spicy. The steak enchiladas with creme fraiche (not cheese) are to die for. Someone was eating a fish that was as big as baseball mitt, I'll have to get myself more acquainted to the menu.2 points

A friend has an Enfield 500 single. I’m not an Enfield guru but this one is an early 1960’s vintage & was made in the Redditch UK factory. All UK production ceased in 1970 and since then all RE’s have been made in India. His is very well used and not a show pony. He even took it to the classic IOM TT this year. Here it is next to my 03 Sport. Not my cup of tea personally, if I was to downsize it would be to a small block Guzzi, or maybe a Ducati Scrambler, but I have to admit the Interceptor 650 twin looks like a classic Brit twin should1 point

Hot damn! It must have been quite a commotion when you realized what was going on. Finding yourself and your hot bike doused in gasoline must be quite unnerving... glad to hear disaster was avoided! Damage to your leathers is only an inconvenience.1 point

Very scary. Good job getting it out of traffic and shut down fast.1 point

Ok, so just got home from a work trip where I traveled through western KY. I was told by a local to try Swaggy P's BBQ, man am I glad I did. I ordered a bowl of KY burgoo and a smoked bologna sandwich. The KY burgoo had such good taste from the smoked meat and a kick of heat that lasted for a few hours down the road. During the process of smoking bologna it changes and creates an unreal taste, simply put both were Western KY BBQ perfection.1 point

That looks like a great stand. I am guessing that they are no longer made and are hard to find, like the other accessories made for the bikes. Thanks for the pics!1 point

Seriously, folks, no matter how you "lift" your V11, always (always) ALWAYS, --> ALWAYS <-- use a "chain fall" or ratchet strap to suspend from above. Seriously: ALWAYS Safety suspend from above. Don't find yourself and your V11 halfway to a bad day.1 point
