I rode the V11 Le Mans for the first time today. It was about 12° C. today, looking like it was going to stay dry, and there was even a bit of sunshine. I'm waiting on a number plate holder that I have odered, so I needed an easy temporary solution for that. I bolted the old plates back on (they were mounted using the screw hole for the plate holder...) and taped the new plates on with gaffer tape. I'm a sound engineer, so that is like the "natural solution" for any problem for me. And then I went for a 40 km. ride before I had to go to work. Lovely. The bike was really the right choice.5 points

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing after my first post. It's all a bit moot though. The box is going to have to come out anyway so if when it's pulled out both clutch and flywheel are good then it's essentially got to be internal to the box doesn't it? Perhaps the nuts on the end of the shafts have loosened/spun off? That was the issue with the last V11 box I was buggering about with.3 points

I received two styles of pegs, ended up installing the non-lowered rubber padded style. Bolted on, no mods needed. These are the identical ones I've been running on my V7 for years. As for the lowered style, these are impressive quality, so well precision machined. As stated earlier in the thread, they need to be shaved just a tad to fit into our mounts. I chose not to use them as they didn't lower teh peg enough to make much of a difference. My guess is about an inch at most. To do any good, it would seem I'd need twice that amount, but then I'm shortening my cornering clearance. So instead, I'm going to use them for my pillion pegs. They will be perfect for lowering and moving forward these pegs, much more comfortable for the wife!2 points

Yeah, I was a bit surprised at how the motor responds at around 5,000 and found I had to try it out several more times to make sure I wasn't imagining things...2 points

The nefarious fractured sliding dog ("hose")? Is your Rosso Mandello in that recall range, @cash1000?1 point

The V11 Guzzi’s power delivery have soul, can be found to be addictive. You did make the right choice Mick. 😎1 point

Were the Rosso Mandello bikes subject to the same transmission recall as my regular 2001 Sport? Was the work ever performed? I seem to recall reading if this failed it would cause the back wheel to lock up. Either way good luck!! https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=91991 point

If it's starting then the ring gear is still concentric with the crank axis. I wouldn't expect it to turn over if the flywheel had broken up??? Perhaps it's a friction plate issue? Anyway, gearbox is still going to have to come out.1 point

Whatever it is the gearbox is going to have to come out and I'm betting the flywheel will be the culprit.1 point

Basically a geology report to know that the house wouldn't sink because of coal mining, IIRC. I was getting a paid move from my job. They hired an outside firm to help with the sale and even buy my house. I found a buyer that beat their price but somehow, they're hooks in the process required the survey even though they were a 3rd party (non buyer). Luckily they didn't screw up the sale. I protested when they threw up this red flag in the middle of the sale that I'd made. Anyway, I signed the papers and they got their hooks into the deal. It's not like I sell a house everyday and never had a contractor "assist" with bait of them buying my house.1 point

I've been lurking on this site for a long time, only a member for the last couple of years since I got my new to me 2003 V11 Lemans VIN ZGUKTCxx73M111236 I always struggled posting images to this site, so I never entered my Lemans in the registry. Today's the day I recently stumbled on Docc's excellent instructions on how to post images in the gallery, I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was. Once again,Tks Docc for taking such good care of us My 2003 V11 Lemans, was originally purchased at Blackfoot Motorsports in Calgary,Alberta, Canada. The bike led a sheltered life only accumulating 6K kms., the owner & the V11 relocated to Kemptville, Ontario, Canada 6-7 yrs ago, where the bike was listed for sale, only an hour from my house. I never actually saw the V11Lemans when it was for sale close by,although I spoke to the owner selling it many times. Long story short, it slipped through my fingers and ended up in a living room as a display piece in Toronto Ontario, 3-4 hrs away. I kept tabs on the bike and contacted the new owner, and through a bizarre set of circumstances,I received a phone call one day out of the blue, the owner of the V11 told me if I could get down there with cash on the weekend while his girlfriend was out of town I could buy the bike;which I did, lol. I own 3 Tonti frame bikes, which I find much easier to work on and more organic and graceful in their design compared to the spine frames;but I've done a ton of niggly little jobs on the bike and I'm growing to love my V11,it is indeed a rocketship compared to my Tontis. What I've come to love and appreciate about the spine frames and my V11,is learning about Dr John and his passion and dedication in it's development. Seeing the design sketches by Marabese, adds to the provenance and my appreciation of this rolling piece of guzzi art history. I've adjusted the MPH risers dozens of times and it's still a frustrating exercise getting just the perfect set up. I often think of Todd Haven (rip) and how choked up Mike Haven was when I dealt with him in obtaining this special piece of kit for my bike. Pete with his Roper plate & the project by members here to get them made. Lucky Phil's tranny improvements & shift linkage extension & Chuck stepping up to get them made and distributed. Everyone that was involved in the shift spring development and manufacture. It's heartwarming to know, that so many passionate people have been involved in the background in making my V11 Lemans, the special motorcycle it is. Gratitude to Jaap's vision & dedication for giving us all this playground, so the magic can happen.1 point

Hi I think I have a gearbox problem. Went for a ride with brother yesterday. Got 20ks down the road and noticed a metallic noise coming from 2001 V11 RM. Stopped had a listen noise had gone away. Road another 100m noise came back. Stopped thinking this isn’t good. Tried to push V11 off on to road verge but couldn’t because back wheel had locked up. It took 2 off us to do it. I was still able to change gear but V11 wouldn’t move forward. Went home on brothers' bike (Yamaha MT09 not for me) and got car & trailer. Got V11 home (Not easy loading a bike with a locked up back wheel). Checked back wheel not binding on swing arm or rear brake binding on disk. Nope. Then took back wheel out thinking diff might have locked up. Nope still moving freely. Then took selector plate off left hand side of gearbox. No sign of damage. Springs on plate still intact. I was still able to run through gears on plate. In retrospect I knew this because I could still change gear but it crossed 1 possibility off the list Checked driveshaft out of right-hand rear of gearbox. I was not able to turn it. Gearbox is in neutral. I think this is what is causing back wheel to lockup. What has happened? Only work I’ve done on V11 recently is replace Cam Sensor (Thanks MartyNZ for loaning me your spare) so unlikely to be anything to do with that0 points
