  4. Ok, thanks for the info. I haven't got the carrier yet (coming soon...) but I do already have a set of similar panniers. When I get the carrier and get them mounted, I'll post a photo of mine. Could take a few weeks.... Mick

  7. @80CX100 I really appreciate your perspective. I will make my order later this week, waiting for a few vendors to respond to my request. I did already order the upgraded MGC OEM cable. I believe they are out of stock, but they still took my order money so maybe it's just a matter of them having a request before they fill it. I hope to hear back from them this week.

  9. "If" there is a possibility of a method of repair using known quality supplies, you "might' want to consider it,idk. I'm definitely not a cable expert,I've only ordered & replaced a few over the years, but even buying from respected suppliers specializing in MGs, there's always been issues with quality or fitment. I've purchased throttle cables for one of my Tontis from a well known US supplier;the cable & casing was of a low quality, slightly smaller and I had to do a mcgyver shim job to make it work, because the inner cable was too long. Recently I purchased a throttle cable from Germany for my V11;same deal, cable and casing were inferior quality, slightly smaller and the inner cable was so long, even with creative shimming and adjustment,,, I couldn't make it work. I ended up mcgyering my old oem cable instead. All that to say, buyer beware when it comes to cables. If there is a quality repair work around that you do using oem pieces with known quality parts/supplies, that "may" be an option to consider. fwiw fyi

  12. Imo...Send it to Pete, obviously its the gearbox right? ...and put a new clutch in while you have it out, best time to eliminate that potential problem (I assume you have the aluminum flywheel?). Best of luck!!

  13. Or just leave it to the fellows with the special tools? I admit it would be tempting to have a look inside . . . These are the nefarious recall parts: Otherwise, as @pete roper said, "Perhaps the nuts on the end of the shafts have loosened/spun off? That was the issue with the last V11 box I was buggering about with . "

  14. From the album: Cash1000

Current motorbikes are 2001 Rosso Mandello imported from Japan and a 1985 Lemans mark 4 1000 with Valtech body kit imported from Italy. Does anyone know anything about Valtech?

  15. My drawing is probably a bit misleading as it was an attempt to portray classic "crabbing" of the frame. Last time my gearbox came out, the motor was supported, front end strapped tightly into the wheel chock, and light straps to support the upper frame from the pannier racks. I did not even have to remove the frame side plates . . .

  18. The ground wire from the battery to the transmission bolt is the forum original 'service this ground first' point. Cleaned and sanded and de-ox'd. I then took another wire, same gauge, from that bolt forward to the frame about mid way with the same 'treatment' at connections. From there, same gauge wire forward to the r/r case. Overkill maybe... I do that
