Hoping someone can point me in the direction of a decent indy shop that's willing to work on a 2002 MG V11 LeMans. I recently acquired this machine (my first Guzzi) and after only a tank of gas, the gearbox decided to come apart (pics below). My local dealer (West Chester, PA) is able to obtain the parts (movable hose in Guzzi speak) but they are unable to work on the internals of the transmission due to lack of special tools. I did check the service bulletin provided elsewhere on this amazing site, and my VIN falls outside the affected machines for that specific recall, even though the failure is the same part. May try Kissel's out in central PA as well, but open to hearing from the community here on other alterntives. Really would prefer not to pull the transmission myself, but if it comes to that you can bet on many more posts from throughout that process... :).2 points

You can do like I used to. You load it up in the truck-haul it to the ditch-go back and get it back out of the ditch and put it back where it was.2 points

Those vehicles are built in Dyersburg about 85 mi. from here . I am glad it is a successful business but , I will probably never own one. If riders do't like the "twist" of a M/G , I can't imagine revving a small block Chevy on two wheels. The Laverda , on the other hand , I have seen a Jota and heard ir run . A religous experince . WOW . It was a project bihe a buddy had. Parts for a Laverda are hard to come by in W.Ky. He sold it to a buddy that hustles bikes. It was sad to see it go , but everything you own is divided into two categories . Jetsam of flotsam .2 points

Nope, not a great start at all! I tried calling Spare Parts last week, and their message says they are closed indefinitely due to a water main break in the area. Not sure how long that's been the case, but certainly bad timing for me... Hoping to find someone to work on this thing, and not kill me on the cost, so I can enjoy it when the weather breaks. Other options are pulling the gearbox myself (which I really don't want to do) or parting the bike out. Good news is that it has a lot of parts that the members here are after (full titanium exhaust, factory rear cargo rack, carbon bits galore -- to name a few). I would much rather fix it and ride it though.1 point

Oh man, I'm sorry - not a great start to your ownership. You seem to be handling better than I would! Anyway, I would recommend contacting The Spare Parts Company (www.sparepartsco.us) in Philly. They've been servicing Guzzis since the late 70s. I haven't personally used them, but have heard they do good work (if you're not in a big hurry). Appreciate the eBay references, and I saw that one as well. One of the sliding 'hoses' as Guzzi calls them decided to come apart on me. Thought it might be easier to swap the box than to tear all the gearbox internals out to replace the 'hoses' (which I would call a 'dog'). Highlighted parts below are what broke.1 point

Just heard back from Vince. The failed bearing was rear one on upper lay shaft. Can any one point out in parts diagram which is the bearing that failed?1 point

I believe it was a Guilio Alfieri designed V6. An Italian automobile engineer that helped designed a number of cool Maserati cars and engines. And yes, cool all around. Imagine if you could buy something like that today....1 point

It looks thin, like that, if you pour a little off the top after the bottle has been sitting. If you shake it up well, it will likely look milky like that oil out of guzzi323's gearbox. [Note: I edited my post with the three images to better emphasize those are from three different V11.]1 point

A car motor installed in a motorcycle, nobody has an affinity for Boss Hog unless its on a rerun of The Dukes of Hazard. The bike Eric listed was beyond cool, w an /Alfa V6, an Italian motorcycle with a Italian motor installed.1 point

Finally installed my Lucky Phil Extender. It really looks nice and fits perfectly. Nice work Chuck, and nice design Phil! Can’t try it any time soon, because the rims are off for bearings and such, and the rear shock is getting swapped.1 point
