Yes, it has shims, but no buckets. There are *arms* commonly known as 'Finger Rockers' that pivot beside the valve spring and go between the cam lobe and the top of the valve on which the shim resides. Biggest advantage over buckets I can see is lack of reciprocating mass in the valve train.3 points

A poignant contrast of V11 in their natural January/February habitat: Rotorua, NZ (note curvy road) : Michigan, USA (note battery charger):3 points

I picked up a used pair of PB stands for the V11 but needed to buy these because the rear stand was set up for spools. http://www.pit-bull.com/?model=f0002-001 Bike seems rock solid. Front has standard cradle for fork bottoms. When needing the front lifted I use the BT center stand and tie off the front end to a truss and pull it up with an inline come along. Nothing in the way with that method. Not everybody has a strong truss above their bike though.2 points

I wonder if he documented this install to better understand how the LED lamp fit into the Lemans bucket, or not, etc. I dropped Andy a message to see if he did. It would be great to know if anyone has measured the dimensions of the interior of the Lemans bucket. Surely that has been done at some point over the last 20 years? Would be a good FAQ item probably.2 points

I use a DRC stand. The 15mm pin fits my RM fine DRC B2510 Road Front Stemup Stand – Cycletreads It's the opposite here in New Zealand 30+ C.2 points

Thanks. David from Andreani USA called, left a message about their services, and also sent me an email with the same information. That and their president corresponding directly with me a few times is a good sign of the customer service at least Their prices are reasonable, and with the good feedback I'm receiving so far here, along with their being somewhat "local", I'll probably give them a try.2 points

I couldn’t help being tickled to tears by that piece of wisdom at the end of the video: ”If you have a junk bike, buy a junk stand; if you have a kick-ass bike buy a kick-ass stand!” Now, onto some soul searching quest to determine what kind of bike you have...1 point

That's the thing. As far as I know, the JW Speaker headlights have ECE approval. If I change the headlight (and I find the "adaptive" bit very intersting) the replacement must be approved. Going without that here can generate far more trouble than it is worth.1 point

Yes, a mate of mine in Melbourne had one for the Kawasaki Z motors (the original, real ones....). Made the job very simple. I fully expect that clever people will make such a tool for the V100 in fairly short order too. Chuck, are you reading this?1 point

So this is a bit of a fork in this thread, talking about adapting spools to the rear swingarm to accommodate a standard rear paddock/lift stand. Pit-Bull responded very quickly today, but in a friendly way declined to provide the dimensions per an agreement with the designer of the adapter, which I can sort-of understand. But as a workaround, he said if I would provide the dimensions of the V11 swingarm, he'd gladly let me know if it would fit. So a quick measure with my caliper says that our swingarm is just barely shy of 51mm tall and is similarly just about 26mm thick. We'll see if they say they are anywhere close. I'm also searching around for the dimensions of the Grom swingarm to come at it that way. Of course if none of this "spools adapter" business works out, there are versions of rear lifts that don't need spools that might work OK if well made. They run the gamut from the cheap Harbor Freight units to more expensive and robust looking Pit Bull models. And BTW, the Pit Bull looks pretty sturdy and like it would keep the bike stable 1000 Lb. Nice suits. And they all forgot to put on a shirt (in the "brand new" video).... The video makes me wonder if they took inspiration from the Bee Gees, or the other way around. Don't get me wrong: I wasn't a fan of the Bee Gees as a teenager (that was their disco period, approximately...) but have come to realise that the were, in fact, rather excellent. In particular, I had occasion to hear Robin Gibb sing from about 3 feet away. The man was really good.1 point

There are shims in there, apparently. Or spacers or whatever you like to call them. Look here, page 42, part #1. They call it a "pad", which I suspect is a poor translation. https://www.af1racing.com/ProdImages/st3/GUV100.pdf In the parts list on the lower part of the page one can see that the part is available in various thicknesses. From here, https://www.motociclismo.es/fotos-motor-moto-guzzi-100-mandello_69296_113/11311934.html this photo from about the middle of the series shows the top of the valve springs, and there one can see the depression in which the "pads" sit. https://www.motociclismo.es/uploads/s1/11/31/19/36/moto-guzzi-v-100-motor-detalles-19_1_1000x575.jpeg1 point

I would happily use Fast Bike Industries / Adreani if I lived in that area. In fact, I would consider them even living where I do. I do like having a suspension guy that is local. Generally I like doing stuff myself, but time is in shorter supply than it was when I was young. So I could see paying someone to do the job. The young me would do it myself. But I am not that guy anymore (sadly). I have heard good things about the Adreani fork cartridges. They seem to be a quality company. But the guy in the email might not understand that Guzzi used very different forks on the early V11 vs the later V11 and V11 Lemans.1 point

WOW, I like it! I put a brand X ($15 ebay) style h4 led in my V11 Lemans last Fall. It fit fine, base was thin metal like the oe h4 and dimensionally (lengthwise) was the same, I encountered no clearance issues. However, after I installed it I realized it looked a little crappy. The light was bright white (nice) but the pilot light was the old incandescent (kinda yellowish) and my lens appeared a little hazy (from age??!!). So, if this Cree brand actually fits/works I think I'd be game to spending the money for one. It would resolve the haze & pilot bulb issue. And, imho, Cree make a quality product, 5 year warranty is nice too. FWIW, Walmart sells Sylvania 194 LED wedge bulbs for about $6. Also, I picked up another 0.2 to 0.3vdc to overall charging system voltage at idle by going to an led headlight bulb. I should probably swap out the S & T bulb with an led too. On another note, I installed a plug & play led sealed beam into my '72 Eldo, has no retro appearance but I can certainly be seen, I'm pleased with it. It was marketed on ebay for Jeeps & motorcycles, $42. Art1 point

^^^^ Pro Grips gel and lead shot plus Napoleons is what I had on the Mighty Scura. Worked pretty well, but yes you could feel a little ticking from that V twin. That's a good thing.1 point

Hi Audiomick, Yep, those are H-B's. I know it looks odd but if you think about it, they couldn't go lower otherwise they'd hit the mufflers or further aft because they would hang too far off the back. I don't know how comfy a passenger would be back there but my son in law has had it out with my daughter on the back and didn't register any complaints. I bought the bike in 2014 from a friend of mine who was the original owner. I made the mistake of riding it in 2007 and told my friend if he decides to sell it, let me know. Happy New Year! Lovely LeMans. And that Norge looks positively sporty in red with gold wheels, and sans bags. BTW - the thread title say no words, but this thread started a long time ago, and there have been more words than pictures from the start.1 point

Now that I've had the weekend to to ride Rich's seat, I can say that I definately prefer his to the Corbin, although I prefer them both to the stock seat. Rich's seat gets me lower and is more comfortable. And I like the material better too. Lastly Rich was able to do the Italian flag thing, and the Corbin guys said they couldn't do that anymore.1 point
