I asked Pete Roper about plates for the old square sumps, he said it's of no value except perhaps in the most extreme racing scenarios.3 points

He got to you just in time. I was just going to mention I had two.. one for a V11S, and another for a Quota.2 points

I just checked VOOM, and their cheapest plan is 22 USD monthly, based on 5,000 miles per year... Since I do more than 5,000 miles, it is not advantageous to me.2 points

All SpineRaids have things in common. SpineRaids in the southern US? Maybe more things in common than not..... Second South'n SpineRaid, 2006, Sweetwater, Tennessee: Yep, that's @Bill Hagan. Yep, they're fly fishin'. Uh, yep, in the parking lot . . .2 points

I've pulled this up because I read something directly related in the German forum a couple of weeks ago. Someone started a topic about how he was having trouble setting his TPS. Paul wrote: Karsten wrote: Bernd, the bloke who programmed GuzziDiag, wrote: So, the problem is not that GuzziDiag is in any way inaccurate or anything like that. It only sees what the ECU delivers, and the ECU is apparently not capable of measuring the Voltage of the TPS when the butterflies are fully closed. Those who don't own a multmeter should be trotting off to buy one about now...1 point

I believe in God, and I also believe He has a sense of humor. Thus, He's laughing at me. After my repair, and around-the-block test, I posted my poor results. This morning, after much research, I found a NOS speedo and bought it for roughly $300 shipped. Then I hopped on the bike and did a 9 mile round-trip to Home Depot. The speedo worked perfect. Dear God, I'm humbled that I made you smile.1 point

Going to the black face Veglia corrects the white face defect, helping negate future problems. The thread may be the same, but the angle is not correct, but I could cut the black back housing to clear it. It's covered up by the fairing so no one would see. The price is right too! Hoping someone could share any info on this swap.1 point

Wouldn't that be great if it works? Seems like those cable housing threads are standardized?1 point

anyone know if this is a direct fit, cable wise? https://www.ebay.com/itm/125898800443?epid=19057696746&hash=item1d50273d3b:g:ZogAAOSwyARkN6cA&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4IqsTjK603A1ebQnMHJX6uROCWE3sUIQW21i%2BLkzDNaR5bjrJKHDGgalMsZ%2FU0ZNLhC7X7PnsnszbW7O2%2Bcbi%2BAOvQeODlhUViWDi%2By0HDvth%2B8c%2Bb5H70PmlPohnF1Skm0bK6j%2BZo5y38HbY4aB%2BCfX1uEr%2BSq4kDHVz4xqwSpMHByJP%2BHV2AcOgjrTcG9PoZNLbX83c4WA9Hd%2B040gtEyhSrrBC8NZtHzPhomAgKxCWfgcnFob2DN46bWD3G9NxU41JIGAuDvRcyzNmwNSdNEzNQgqfvWq%2FjM7DCooLqQV|tkp%3ABk9SR5Ce1Yr5YQ1 point

Switzerland VERY strict, IMO, they hate bikes and cars. BUT if you have like 10 bikes, 1 plate is all you need. Younger lads having 200hp bikes, costly. More like we prefer not to have you as a customer, 3000 + $. My 2022 Ducati, around 390$ full coverage, and V11’s around 120$, older than 30years around 50$, all full coverage. Hibernation time, fire and theft, around 50$. BMW 340D 960$ full coverage. Yes I know I have decent prices, more stuff insured = better prices. The rest up here = pricy. Anyway friday guys, IPA time. . Cheers Tom.1 point

I've repeated this post to make sure no-one misses the edit. Turns out that the HMB baffle plate is not compatible with our motors after all. The inital listing including the V11 was an error on Mike's part.1 point

Each state has its own requirements; in Texas, you are required to have insurance, and they check that you have it during the annual state inspection. However, I know for a fact that many drivers do not have insurance. There are Insurance Companies with very low premiums, generally they are just providing the driver with a proof of insurance, but practically zero coverage. However in the USA, or at least in Texas, I would not recommend to get the cheapest insurance possible. I know a lot of people who have had their car damaged by people who have run away. If you don't have full coverage, it may be costly. Also, in the USA you have these lawyers who specializes in car accidents. My insurance covers lawsuits to a certain extent. You want to have that too. I am sure you have heard about those frivolous lawsuits before.1 point

Most riders don’t find themselves sling shot away from the Apex, have to drop the bikes lean angle until you’re almost knee dragging to avoid running off the track. All while doing 185mph, a predicament that pushed that motorcycle to its limits. The MotoAmerica spec Ducati runs World SuperBike electronics, maybe they helped save Josh from the Grim Reaper. ☠️1 point

I was expecting something along the lines of Samuel Jackson in Pulp Fiction... you know, after they escape with their lives in the initial apartment encounter... just kidding.... but it was really a close call; What I don't understand, is why Brembo does not figure out a system to prevent that issue which has now happened plenty of times. I am thinking about a choke system, which only works in one direction. The hydraulic braking fluid is free to flow to the piston, but is slightly metered in the opposite direction. Not sufficiently to impede brake release, but in cases like a violent front shaking, at least the pistons are not backed out. What do you think?1 point

If it doesn't have hidden corrosion issues, & the digital dash functions well,I think that's a bargain. Nice lowering pegs,CARC & front guards, obviously the owner took care to try to protect it. Not familiar with that Leo Vince exhaust system, but it looks well made. Almost a twin for my Griso, but mine has 5 times the mileage.1 point

Maybe an alternative, Edit: no, it is not. The HMB plate is not suitable for the V11 or V10 motors. That they were initially listed as compatible was an error, which has now been corrected. I'll leave the link in, in case someone is looking for a plate for one of the listed models. https://hmb-moto.de/Oil-sump-baffle-plate Mike posted about that in the German forum today (26th Apr., 2023), so I guess he has just added it to his program.1 point

Moderator edit: Due to an ongoing confusion with another "idea" with a very similar name, the title and references to this important "idea" have been edited to: Kentucky Spine Raid spring Kentucky Spine Raid KSR sKSR Just to clarify, if possible, this is an entirely different "idea" than the longstanding "South'n SpineRaid" carrying on in Tellico Plains,Tennessee, the weekend after (US ) Labor Day:1 point

@drossell7 As Doc suggested, only send the instrument to Joel, nothing else. For the record, since Joel fixed mine, it is still working fine. From 8000 miles to today's 25,000 miles. Mine was fixed in 2021.1 point

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After two months of ordering, shipping, ordering, again and again, etc, etc wrong part ordered, wrong part shipped, confusion on the "2003 sport" (2002 or 2004 fitment?) Tank off, tank on, again and again. I finally got all new and correct items. All are now installed: new transmission 60° gear, new speedometer 60° gear, new OEM cable. I start it up, and away I go. The needle is bouncing, but then smooths out and registers correct, then it doesn't! I'm so frustrated. I guess the speedo is also in need of replacement. For bike that didn't run for over a decade, it was easier to get it started, running, and dialed in than it is to deal with this stupid speedo set-up.0 points
