This might have been shown here before, but it is new to me. I usually call Piaggio and give them the VIN to check on the recall status of bikes I am looking at, but this is just as easy. I punched in my bike just for kicks, and it confirmed my earlier phone result from them before my purchase. My only question is the sentence at the bottom of the page referring to recalls after 2009, which the V11's were not. The gearbox recall was done in 2003, but the info comes up as satisfied and does reference my bike and color. So I am a little baffled. http://recall.piaggiogroup.com2 points

Gorgeous! That is @knumbnutz avatar. Maybe he knows of this bike? https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/profile/10277-knumbnutz/2 points

That color combo always gets me thinking of putting a leather seat on my Sport and mounting a Stucchi flyscreen in that delicious "Tenni" green . . .2 points

I doubt you'd have any issues with compliance mate, they are a quality item! The Bitubo on mine was leaking when I got the bike at 20,000 kays! I fitted the Hyperpro damper when suspension upgraded at 40,000 kays and at 98,500 kays no leaks and it works perfectly still... Cheers1 point

I gather that it is really not that necessary on the long frame bikes, BUT... I learned today that it is apparently an "homologation item", i.e. if it is missing and something nasty happens, there may be problems with the law and/or insurance. Therefore, I will be leaving it on, even if it is turned back all the way. Might have a go at re-building it (thanks @MartyNZ for the info), might just bite the bullet and get one of the Hyperpro units. That would need a european certificate of compliance, but the manufacturer is from the Netherlands. Maybe they have one.1 point

Agree with you on the Hyperpro damper Doc... I have mine set on 4 clicks (of a possible 24, I think can't remember ). Anyways it's a quality item and works a treat. We have some good goat tracks round here that've given the bike ample opportunity to misbehave so I'm a fan! Cheers Guzzler Ps the standard Bitubo is CRAP1 point

There are those of us who are such fans of what Caig DeOxit® does for connectivity across fuses, relays, switches, and connectors. Yet, as @PJPR01 recently pointed out, connector seals can swell and tear from DeOxit exposure. Specifically, the green Metri-Pack seal on the V11 TPS and the Casper's TPS Breakout Harness. But also the yellow TE AMP SuperSeal connectors in the rest of our wiring harness(es). See how this 5-position AMP connector seal swelled after exposure to DeOxit? Once the tank was back on, that connector was not connected and the tank had to come back off and the connector compressed with a clamp, then "zip-tied" to make connection . . . I plan on replacing the seals at next "tank off." Yet, the seals are not available separately. The TE/AMP connectors are available from various suppliers including Gregory Bender. Buy the connector, slip off the seal as a replacement. See the link, above, for sources of the TPS 3-position "Metri-Pack" connector/seal. Otherwise, be aware that while Caig DeOxit® is electron-magic, it will swell these seals and make them vulnerable to tear and possibly interfere with the connector reliably engaging/connecting.1 point

writing of Setzer, I don't own any Stray Cats but I do have his Boogie Woogie Christmas Record. It's quite good. Big band, rockabilly. Anne Margaret and Lou Rawls are on it too. I have a family Christmas eve party and play some stuff by tradition. This is just fun to listen to at any time. This catches it: and when I heard this one, I thought Lou sounded like Frank1 point

Brian Setzer is one of those special musicians. He is incredibly talented. Here is another song in a different style.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oofsdky-TNs1 point

Ok, referring to that data sheet again, in the same block (fourth last, ninth down...) the top entry # 1 904 492 016 is a 4.8 mm connector. It is also listed at the place you linked further up: https://rct-global.com/part/receptacle-to-suit-mini-relay-4-8mm-bosch-1-904-492-016/ The difficulty with those connectors might be finding someone who is willing to sell less than 100 at a time...1 point

MG really had some righteous paint schemes on these V-11s . I can't understand these bikes selling OUT immediately when they were put on the showroom floors .1 point

And the bassman gets busted-on for having just four strings!1 point

not the last, the fourth last. That is the ninth group down. I can't say for sure, but I am (or was) fairly convinced that the connectors on my relays are all 6.3 mm. I'll try and find time to have a look tomorrow. Either way, those connectors seem to me to be a fairly standarised part. I dare say they don't even need to be Bosch, as long as they have the barb, and are the right size. Bosch might last longer, though.1 point

When my Bitubo leaked, I went without it for a while, but found I liked a little assistance (resistance?) in tight steering lock during parking maneuvers. The likelihood that a V11 would throw a wobble/tank slapper is rather slim. Lots of members have removed theirs with no ill effects. Too much damping and the V11 (especially the early ShortFrame) can suffer from high speed weave (very different from "wobble"). The early Sports were known for this and my dealer advised to set the damping to minimum. [edit: I found the weave to be multi-causal and solved it with suspension changes, sag set-up, tire type/pressure selection. Very early RedFrames had carry-over triple trees that can be problematic.] HyperPro offers a selection of dampers that fit (I'll look for that thread). We have another, highly contentious, one thousand three hundred seventy-two posts/ 115 page thread that ended locked, a member ejection, two other members leaving, and the forum being put on probation. We are passionate beings about things like damping, you know . . .1 point

I feel that both Honda and Yamaha have been complacent because they were the leaders for so many years in MotoGP. They did not heed the warning from Ducati and KTM seriously. I am convinced Honda will react very quickly. Honda can make a lot of changes since it appears their problem is more chassis related than engine related. For Yamaha, the path to renew with success is less obvious. It implies a major engine upgrade, possibly a change in the architecture itself. Given that the rules will change in 2027, I don't see Yamaha coming up with a V4 before that.1 point

Word on the street is Honda was running out of spare parts, and had already cannibalized Mir's bike to get required parts to fix Marc's bike. It is possible him withdrawing was influenced by running out of parts (just idle speculation on my part). Marc has always been something of a bowling ball. The difference is it used to be he would hit other people and knock them down without falling himself. He would crash, a lot, but that was usually in practice. In the race he would knock others down but not fall himself. Now his mojo seems to be gone and he is hitting the ground more often, both in practice and in the race. Sadly, he is still hitting others and knocking them down. Absolutely crazy that he said Zarco was responsible for the crash that took Zarco out when Marc crashed into him. That was a situation where a normal racer would have said sorry about taking you down with me. Not Marc. I have to think Marc is becoming less and less popular with the other racers.1 point

Hey Swooshdave, what would my V11 Sport Naked look like with these colours? Blue and white, with red guards, and indigo ceramic on the headers, like some of the V1000 Brittens. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/first-rides-tests/2013/january/jan2313-mcn-rides-the-britten-v1000/1 point

I love this phrase : "collector grade" being applied to V11 !1 point
