It's actually safer too! Crawling along at 100kph in a lot of scenarios means you're MORE LIKELY to lose concentration than if you're sitting on 160k.... At that speed you ARE concentrating on what you're doing! Ha ha 100kph on the Nullabor especially after a couple of days of travel IS dangerous but the rozzers will happily relieve you of your hard earned! Cheers Ps back in the day the cops weren't too bad either as many were bike nuts too and understood...unlike many of todays twats who've swallowed the govt BS hook line and sinker!2 points

That's exactly the problem with the Autobahn. As mentioned, I haven't been on it with the V11 yet, but the Autobahn is the reason I bought the GTR. I wanted a bike with good luggage, a shaft drive, and enough kick to keep up with the pace on the Autobahn on long trips. And I like Kawaski. The fairing on the GTR is so good that you don't notice how fast you are going. I've used the GTR many times to do trips upwards of 400 km. . Mostly, I was on the way to a job, so it's all about getting there, not tourist trips. My cruising speed is generally around 160 km/h ( 100 m.p.h.). One has to keep reminding oneself that it really does take a while to slow down from that sort of speed, and paying very close attention to what is going on is a very good idea. After more than about half an hour at a constant silly speed, it all starts to just feel normal. Still, it's really good fun to ride on a very well designed and constructed freeway at a speed at which you have to concentrate for the curves.2 points

I've fallen for that, myself . . . If your battery is a Hawker Odyssey PC545 (OEM of the V11 OE Spark 500), they can often be conditioned rather than replaced: [edit/ June 26, 2023: Moving battery related posts to the correct thread.]2 points

From Facebook re: bleeding the clutch Q: OK folks who has a tip on bleeding the clutch without removing the wheel? Last time i did it my son learned some new ”expressions” A: i added a braided extension hose off a Breva that fits so now the bleed nipple is out near where the sidestand foot sits when lifted up/moving/ riding Cost me $50. Now bleeding the clutch is a breeze Attaches to the bolt on sump that has the sidestand bash plate on it at the gear lever rear corner of sump I used a small rubber lined P clip to go from bolt around the hose A: Just ise 2 ring spanners to hold line and other to crack open/close the bleed nipple as needed A: You can fit a wrench on the bleed nipple and then just open, squeeze the clutch handle, then close and release the clutch handle. Cursing doesn’t make it any faster, just more enjoyable. A: You are better to not pump it just open the bleeder and let drip out and keep it topped up. Lock the bleeder off and give it a couple of pumps and release. Open bleeder let it drain and repeat till fluid is clean. That’s how I do it.1 point

It's running on one cylinder hence the rough running and noise. Phil1 point

@Scud has a photo of his speedo showing 183mph. (Sort of) https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/topic/19038-installing-speedhut-gauges/?do=findComment&comment=2217681 point

Yep I've often thought myself ( and mates ) very lucky indeed to have been able to indulge and enjoy ourselves back in the day without today's consequences! Cheers1 point

Occasionally, a casual admirer will ask how fast mySport will go. I've grown fond of replying, "I've never seen the speedomoter over 135 ." (mph, of course.) I never said I've seen it that fast, just never over . . .1 point

@pete roper that's what I was afraid of, and yes, the noise/vibration is worse with an open throttle, like a LUNK LUNK sound. I am running your sloppage plate. The oil light has come on intermittently for the last two rides. The oil was changed a few months ago too. I wonder what the cause was, did the oil pump give out, or something else that caused the oil pressure light to come on intermittently? I suppose this problem is not fixable and that the engine is done for? @Lucky Phil & @audiomick both cylinders are firing, I checked the exhaust is fine on both. So unfortunately we have a big end problem... I will see if I can get a better video, but it's probably best not to run the engine any more...0 points

Is it making a knocking/clanking noise from the engine when you open the throttle? If so I'm guessing you've run the big ends, especially given the 'Dirty oil' situation. Are you running a sloppage sheet?0 points
