  1. A mate posted me a link to an auction a while back. HK Monaro 327 GTS. It went for about $ 375,000 . I used to have a brochure. Might still have it in a box in Australia somewhere. The new price in 1968 was around $3,800, if I recall correctly.

  2. Thought I would try out the simplest muffler mod described on this site. Pulled out all the mesh and put the covers back on. It may be a bit louder, but not much. The problem is the bike disappears by 4th gear, lots of good stuff going on but no sound track.

  3. I have better speedo then you guys. ha ha! Mine shows up to 240 but I have never seen it over 220 no matter how I'd try. But some time ago. more than 15 years ago, I've seen 298 (yes, yes, kilometers and in MPH it would be 185) on the empty road going from Waterton Lakes Ata back to BC, on my 2004 Yamaha R1. I've never went so fast before or after even on the track.

  5. Once I started long hard rides,on my new to me 2003 Lemans; the bike suffered severe tank suck issues. The symptoms can vary from subtle & sublime,to sudden & severe like mine. After the first long hard ride & refueling while out on the roads;I had a violent release of tank vacuum pressure when I opened the lid on the gas tank to add fuel. My bike would hardly run for the ride home; While your tank is off, verify the two vents under the cap(guitar strings are perfect to use) & the lines that attach to them are open & verify the routing of the plumbing. A PO had plumbed my tank vent lines through a T fitting into the vacuum fittings on the throttle bodies. I eliminated the T & re-routed my lines open to atmosphere & capped the vacuum ports at the TBs. The bike now runs perfect. fwiw ymmv good luck ps While you're looking at it & because it's a known to cause problems, verify the wire bullet plug connections for the clutch switch on the left side of the frame/steering head.

  7. The one I had was white, and had a fair bit of rust by the time I bought it in about 1985. And it was "only" a 186S, unfortunately not the 327. It was still a fantastic car that I miss to this day.

  8. That looks good mate. The standard one looks manky pretty quickly.... But it's in the firing line so to speak. Cheers

  9. Received mdi CF alternator cover (35% off, supposedly, at $65). Originally intended for the Tenni, but I'm not blown away by the look of the matte plain weave -- and already have a smorgasbord of different CF on her -- thus, this new CF bit ended up on Bubbles. Definitely looks better than the painted alloy cover, but showcases the dramatic need for a thorough cleaning. The irony of putting a new part on the parts bike is not lost on me.

  10. Well I placed my order for SpeedHut replacement gauges. Just under $500 out the door. I went with the design below. The background is gray instead of white. I really wanted them to glow red at night and they did not offer a white face/red glow option. So I went with gray. I think they look pretty good! I'm sure I'll be stopping back by this thread after they are delivered when I go to attempt the installation.

  11. I suppose I prefer posting technical inquiries in dedicated, specific topics. That often will focus comments and links and help clarify our knowledge base. It takes a bit longer for the poster to find a starting point, but I think the outcome is more valuable. Often, someone will bring back an old thread and it gets refreshed with newer discoveries and the comments of newer members. Those "on-topic" threads are great resources for trying to learn some particular aspect of these V11. Just my opinion. Y'all carry on . . .
