  1. Joe, Apologies for this much-delayed response. Short answer? LOTS. Temper that with I've only ridden it 1055 miles, with only one longish -- and VERY wet -- trip to see grandkids in North Carolina.. Riding it to Erie in a week or so, SSR in early September, and Mutton Run after that, and those real miles should tell the tale. Meanwhile, I'll just say that I have been pleasantly surprised by its performance and comfort. Bill

  2. As I was saying , oil / filters are not that expensive . I have never ruined an engine by frequent oil changes . It is a free country .

  3. Busy -- a good thing at my age! -- so have missed this and a number of other threads recently. I suppose that this thread is banter, but celebrating Independence Day is, IMO, hardly silly. My fourth great grandfather, Corporal James Hagan, Jr., served with the Maryland line of the Continental Army from 1776 -1783. He was seriously wounded at Eutaw Springs on 8 September 1781 ... interestingly, that is the day in 2023 that Kathi and I will arrive at Tellico Springs for this year's SSR. We celebrate The Fourth in a serious way. Unlike most folks around here who -- oddly, it seems to us -- put up Christmas decorations in November and toss it all in the garbage on the 26th, we leave ours up until Epiphany. Those same people put up the Fourth display here around Memorial Day, but as soon as the boom and smoke of the fireworks clear, down come the flags, etc. We put up our Independence Day bunting on the first or second of July, but leave those up for at least a week after. Here's what our front gate looks like "as we speak!" Bill

  5. I started a conversion to Speedhut gauges but never completed it. So, the gauges and other bits are for sale at a discount. Before I did any work on my bike I partially staged the installation by buying a new intrument holder (lower plastic portion) from Harpers and the metal portion (that attaches to the triple clamp) from Ebay. I fabticated brackets based from other members comments in this string. Everything you need including a plug for the crankcase where the speedo cable came out to do the conversion is here. The speedometer is the GPS version and is set to 20,000 miles. The metal portion of the intrument holder has a slight bend - use the one from your machine. Cost is $200. Call Dave 973 632-2237

  6. As so many times, I will make this reply and promptly report myself. It is on me when topics get moved. There was no other place for this, yet this matter has come up before: A topic gets posted that is not technical, motorcycle, or Guzzi related and . . . where does it belong? I will discuss this with our Admin/ Chief Whip @Admin Jaap and perhaps we may retitle this subforum as a "catch-all" without suggesting silliness or frivolity. Matters of Silly Banter and Redneck Trashtalk shall ever have a place here, though. Some of our best "conversation!"

  7. Just replaced a rear tire and performed an appropriate "Wheels Off Maintenance" including servicing the rear brake (clean/rotate pistons, bleed the fluid, check the pads). The "blue back" Brembo Carbon Ceramic I had installed last had gone from 4mm pad thickness to 1mm in 6500 miles. YMMV, but I usually get 10,000 from the rear pads (Yes. I use the all the brakes). So, I went to OPP Racing for the OE Brembo black back pads (FF/ organic) $16US, but with $13.95 insured shipping, I ordered two sets to make that seem okay.
