Sitting here waiting for first leg of return trip back to Oregon. Copenhagen to Reykjavik. Icelandic Air does something I've never seen any other airline do...load a plane from back to front. What a simple concept that works. What's with these American airlines anyway? I'm anxious to get back. Right before I left I picked up this beauty. Been looking for a while for a low milage single owner Griso. This one popped up less than 200 miles from me. So much to do to get ready to leave had no time to register it. But Monday morning it will be real easy for me to get up real early to be first in line at DMV after spending time here.7 points

Took the bike into the office again yesterday... Hard to start and had to toggle the kill switch to get her to do so! Got to servo and same shit as the other month, wouldn't take any throttle when trying to accelerate onto the highway! Bugger not this again.. Definitely not battery this time as has been ridden at least once a week for some time now. Once again she came good after a few kays! So,when quiet at work I pulled the seat and removed relays to check... pretty dusty /dirty in there so cleaned the base and actually replaced # 1 as although it was a 5 pin it wasn't a GEI like the others...odd.Started ok. After work at 2.30pm she fired right up and ran like a champ through the heavy traffic for 10-15 kays till clear of Cranbourne and open road and still no issues! When I got to the fun bits she was still running brilliantly and had a ripper of a ride home! The new settings up front (yep still experimenting with forks) meant it was probably the hardest I've ever ridden this stretch... so I reckon I'm very very close! Still glowing this morning! Cheers Ps For every up there's a downer... Think I may have a wee (hopefully a wee one) surprise in the mail in next few weeks... Safety cameras ... Bollocks it's bloody revenue raising nothing more!!2 points

Air France used to do that too. Calling passengers from row number to row number, starting from the back. Business and First class passengers could board at their own will. It is difficult to understand if there is any time gain by doing it this way. Because initially, this was the objective; Now Air France uses the board by group number which most airlines use. I like the way Southwest does it, without assigned seat; I think it is the most efficient and fastest way to board. Air travel has seriously deteriorated over time. Not only because of the newly implemented security measures. The number of passengers that use that mode of travel has exceeded the capacity of the infrastructures in several ways. Airports are too small in many of the major hubs. Access to the airports, terminals are no longer coping with the flow. The number of gates available to board passengers is finite in many cases. At least, in Europe, fast trains supplement or replace short haul flights. All European airports are connected to the cities via rail. The lack of alternatives to flights for long distance travel in the USA is a major problem. Any weather issue, even if localized in one part of the US can disturb air travel everywhere else. In Houston, you can only access either IAH or Hobby via road. There have been cases when passengers had to leave their cars and walk to the terminals. We have also seen some absurd issues happening, such as passengers stuck in a plane under the sun with no air conditioning in Las Vegas. I have been using air transport frequently since 1980; my last flight to Boise Idaho proved the point. A weather system forced an extended stay in Denver, at least we made it back in the early hours of the morning. But this is the lack of alternative transport that I think will become unbearable. A fast train connecting Dallas / Houston / Austin should be a de facto project. By the way, I flew Iceland Air to New-York several times in the 80's. DC8.... because it was the cheapest way to get to New York from Paris. The plane ticked included a train trip to Luxembourg, where the flight initiated, and a stop over at Reykjavik both ways. I love Iceland too....2 points

Today I did nothing on or to the Guzzi, but something for a Guzzi: paid for it. A Breva 750 i.e. with less than 10,000 km on the clock, to be precise 9,883 km. . Of those, about 9,500 were ridden before 2013. Effectively one owner. There are two in the papers, but the first was a dealership. It was a "test-ride" bike. Actually a fairly boring motorcycle in a lot of ways, but I wanted a boring motorcycle to run errands on so that I don't do that on the V11 (or the V35 Imola), and the Breva is also a Guzzi.2 points

Worse, we had rail but tore it down. A little before my clear memory but I do remember the local train station. I once believed that my parents put me on a short train hop to visit my grandparents but am told that it never happened (dreamed it or false memory or mom forgot). No one needed a train ticket when gas was $.25 9/10 and everyone had a V8.1 point

Actually a rail triangle from Dallas, San Antonio, Austin and Houston might make sense, of course it will never happen in Texas. If you have a good memory, that was the inspiration for Southwest Airlines in the early '70's. When Bill Keleher was asked about competing with American Airlines, he said "no, we're competing with Greyhound." I think that killed a lot of cool movie plots with busses in Texas like "The Last Picture Show" and "The Getaway". Oh, I've not seen it but "Chainsaw Massacre".1 point

My travel throughout Sweden and Denmark without a car was easy. Europe set this up decades ago with train stations in every city and then some. The US put its energy into the Interstate system. We will never improve on the way we travel, we just don't have the infrastucture and it aint starting now. We just add more lanes.1 point

I found the Etsy solution working nicely. Plus it matches the color of my Le Mans, which makes it even more palatable. This picture was taken in Eden TX, around midday, without any shadow to shelter from. The cover fits the Guzzi surprising well, even if designed with Harley Davidson motorcycles in mind. I have been using this cover each time I leave the bike in the sun, including at home, and it is very fast and easy to deploy. The folding to take up as little space as possible could be improved. The elastic bands that anchor the cover to the bike may certainly age quickly in the unforgiving Texas sun. I have a coupon if anybody is interested in getting one. They have many colors, in case red is not yours.....1 point

I wish MG would have stuck with the steel reflector for the Lemans. Or at least the bezel set up as the retaining device for the reflector.1 point

I recall bending the connector spades 90º to make space in the bucket . . . Yet, again, the early steel bucket is completely different from the later V11 headlamp buckets, including the reflector and the lens. So, no idea what kind of solution this is for later V11 . . .1 point

Got one from Ghezzi-Brian. Installed and it looks great. I wasn't sure I'd like the exposed swing arm since the stock fender covers it but it looks nice. Thanks for your help all!1 point

Hi P6x…the ethanol free gas at Bucees in Hempstead on 290 at FM362 is 92 octane…always been good quality with no issues. I’ve had bad premium gas from small stations a couple of times only …once in Sedan, Kansas after leaving the Cedar Vale rally and once in Utah near Vernal. Both times I used a gas treatment and the problem was solved…1 point

€120,- cheaper. Wendel has the Bitubo original listed at €406,- , and the Hyperpro shop is asking €285,- for their unit. Those prices can be seen in the links in the post you quoted...1 point

Interesting; The Federal recommendation, if I am not wrong, is for Premium fuel to be minimum 91 Octanes (R+M/2), usually max being 93 (R+M/2). This reinforces the idea that Buc-ee's purchases fuel from various suppliers. The photo below is from 2022. 90 Octanes (R+M/2). 87 Octanes (R+M/2) on Buc-ee's at Katy.0 points
