The factory spring might last that long, but you can be certain that it will break eventually. Chuck did the calculations on the factory spring and determined that it was poorly designed. It needed to have another turn in the loops. Otherwise, in normal operation, the spring wire deflection exceeds the elastic limit, going into plastic deformation (the permanent set). Then metal fatigue is followed by breakage, followed by a trip home in 2nd gear. š A picture showing the 2 versions of the springs are shown in the link below. https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/topic/20201-re-engineering-the-shift-spring/?do=findComment&comment=2727605 points

For those that have never been or itās been a long time since you attended a Southān Spine Raid. Itās not too late to make plans to attend! It will be an epic weekend of Moto Guzzi tech sessions, bourbon š„ and riding the beautiful motorcycle roads of Tennessee and North Georgia. There are many places to stay in Tellico Plains if the The Lodge at Tellico is full.5 points

Aloha! Whatās your experience? I havenāt had the opportunity to ride the islandā¦ but years ago, I did ride with a couple of mates up to Big Bear outside Los Angeles and the dew at 6,800 feet is bad. Dew at any level is terribly treacherous. Hereās the opening lines from a magazine review by Robert Smith. āOne the most memorable and exhilarating rides of my motorcycling life was on a Guzzi: a race-tuned 850 Le Mans Mk1. I rode it from Haāiku, Maui (close to sea level) up to the Haleakala Park entrance at 6,800 feet on the volcanoās switchback access road, and back down again. With a race cam, lightened flywheels, flowed head, Bub exhaust and flat-slide Mikunis, that baby really flew, handled precisely and would stop on, if not a dime, certainly a nickel. But what was so seductive was the way the motor loved to rev. Below 3,000 rpm, it wouldnāt have pulled a fly off a cow patty; but when it came on the cam, it surged to the red line with a rush of booming power; but on closing the throttle, all was uncannily smooth and calm.ā Uncannily smooth and calmā¦ stay strong Lahaina šŖ https://cdnbkr.ca/3893-2-motorcycle-review/moto-guzzi-breva-1200-2008/2 points

I have a few Carb stories that ā as the statute of limitations has long run ā Iāll share after we wet things down at the pavilion. You might also pass out. I like bourbon and grappa, but the thought a combo is unsettling. That said, not to try seems wrong. Weāll let you know. Bill2 points

Got you! My new spring only has two coils and not three. I will complete my Texas tour and switch the springs then. By the way, I did my trip home in 1st gear, because when I got stuck in second gear, I managed to shift down and that was the end of it. It gave me more time to appreciate the landscape.2 points

The bulk of the emojis are older than most of your Guzzis! When I find time I will update some of them, but the custom ones I made a long tome ago, I will keep of course2 points

Hmmm.... Challenge: invent a cocktail using both. I can't see it working myself, but am open to suggestions. I will try any recipes that are posted here and pass judgement.1 point

I still have a few Extenders from that absolutely last run. Scud sent me a few springs that I could use as "party favors" if someone needs one.1 point

I swear-to-Waddington I never meant to go this course a week out. But, they revealed themselves. What can I do? "Get there. Bring Tools."1 point

to me, it looks like a Griso 1200 motor, exhaust and drivetrain in (perhaps) a spine frame with a V11 tank and a fairing that approximates or is derived from a Sport 1100. If it is well done, potentially a very exciting motorcycle. Poorly done, a potential nightmare. In the picture it is pretty enough. Something about the proportions irritates me, but I'm not sure that the problem there is not simply an artefact of a very short focal length lens on the camera that took the picture. ( @Admin Jaap it's about time we had that "scratching his head and thinking heavily" emoticon here...)1 point

Yeah, that gearbox has an odd patina. Tire age would be another good indicator. 2k miles might have originals on, and date stamp could confirm that.1 point
