Remove the intake snorkel on a Griso and it makes a perfectly satisfactory intake honk. Mapped correctly you'll also get a tiny bit more bottom end and midrange.3 points

cheers for your write-up on the gearbox phil- got me thru it. It was only after i re-re-read it that i realised i should’ve draw-filed the bearing surfaces- i polished them but probably put a slight radius on them. Working bloody lovely though now 🙂. Makes me appreciate the v11 setup as when it’s good it’s very good. I got a vfr400 this year and the action thru the box is no comparison. Which i wouldn’t have expected as when i saw inside the v11 guts it looked so… agricultural?2 points

The intake noise is pretty much the same between the two. As Pete said, if you remove the airbox snorkel on the Griso that muffles the intake noise it is going to make more intake noise. My Griso has an aftermarket airbox lid that is an open filter, so it has even more intake noise. The wifes V11 also has an aftermarket airbox lid that is open, but many here just cut holes into the stock lid. One glitch with the V11 running an open airbox lid is there is heat reflective material on the underside of the fuel tank. With an open airbox lid that material can fall down onto the air filter and block airflow. If you want to open up the airbox, make sure that heat barrier is properly attached to the underside of the gas tank. The Griso with its two into one exhaust will sound different then the two into two of the V11. But I actually prefer the Griso's two into one exhaust (especially with an aftermarket set up that is more open). It has a little more of a snarl, sounding meaner than the V11. But both sound great.2 points

This is the Quota 1100ES that I went to check in Boise Idaho! here's the add on Craigslist! I would have purchased it, but the HOA denied my request to leave a motorbike outside, while initially they had tentatively said they would give me the authorization. I also spoke to the previous owner who was a Guzzi fanatic and optimized the fuel mapping. I vouch for it no problem.2 points

BramF, Have a look at these ones https://www.omniaracing.net/en/brembo-serie-oro-front-floating-brake-disc-for-moto-guzzi-v11-mans-20012005-p-164545.html Rob1 point

You can use "Braking" disks or Galfer disks. I have used both. The part is as common a fit as mud. The Braking disks are mono directional so separate part numbers and the Galfer are Uni directional so same number. Same disk as my 2003 Ducati 1000SS and many other bikes. I can get the numbers if anyone needs them. I have the Braking disks on my 1000SS and the Galfers on the V11. Shopping around I think you can buy a pair new for around 550-600usd. Phil1 point

Yeah, Binder had his best lap in qualifying interrupted by a yellow flag. That put him further back on the grid. But he still did a good job making his way forward.1 point

The sounds between the beasts are different but equally as nice. I don't have a snorkel on my griso and it has 2-1 exhaust and my V11 has massive pods and velocity stacks so theyre both going to sound quite different to the norm1 point

However, the topic was about Marlin's instrument. So topic deviation happens in the same way. I agree that a "for sale" topic needs to be left demure of anything else that don't belong.1 point

This is a VERY good point, and well taken. The "Marlin Instruments" thread is in "Special Place for banter and Conversation." Hence: the banter and conversation. This fellow is trying to make his V11 Rosso Corsa available in this Personal Classified. Drifting his thread too far afield is inappropriate. We can simply carry that interesting discussion on independently and give @drossell7 his original topic back. https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/topic/30805-motorcycle-importexport-adding-aftermarket-parts/1 point

well, that happens a lot, isn't it? just take a look at my post about the Marlin's instruments. Did I see Stilettos and Daggers there too?1 point

You're not wrong about them bounding outa the bush mate... I have a simple rule of being off the bike or off the road by about 4pm due to the wildlife and one very vivid memory was the cause of it. Back in 1989 I did a bike trip to Darwin and Kakadu Nat Park on a most inappropriate SR500 loaded with gear and girlfriend. The original plan to come back via Qld was abandoned due to the SLOW pace ha ha.Anyways leaving Erldunda for Ayers Rock in the late afternoon meant we'd be riding at night to get there.I was wary but thought bugger it will give it a go. About half way into the 260 k ride it's pitch black and COLD plus the SR's headlight was about as good as holding a lighter out front and I see headlights coming towards us from the direction of the rock.By the time the headlights get close to us ie about 10-15 metres away it's lights illuminate a HUGE roo, it had to be a big red.It bounded outa the bush from my left never having touched the lane we were in and landed on the road right in front of the 4WD and it's headlights and bounced off into the bush on the other side! We wouldn't have had a chance had it come the other way! Being dark as Hades out there you don't see them coming till it's too late and to say it scared the CRAP outa me is the understatement of the year. The remaining 130 odd kays were spent jumping at even the bugs hitting the helmet.... Then when we were almost there the road turned into a swarming see of MICE just to freak us out even more (didn't think it possible)! Turns out there was a mouse plague out there but anyways we made it! I've just driven this road a couple of weeks ago with my wife this time and it brought the memory (s) back so apologies for the rambling....! But yeah, a Roo is definitely better viewed from your plate than the road in the dark of night!!! Cheers1 point

Yes, indeed. A mate of mine collected one (or it might have been "only" a wallaby) somewhere out near Kinglake years ago. The thing landed on his front wheel. He was lucky: scratched up the bike and broke his collar-bone. Could have been lots worse. @docc : the comparison with deer is appropriate in another sense as well: deer come bounding out of the bush, the don't just wander on to the road with four feet on the ground (at least the little ones here do...). Kangaroos are even better: they come out of the trees about a meter in the air and hit the ground in the middle of the road. It can be a little difficult to see them coming... But, as Guzzler has already mentioned, they are indeed grill-compatible.1 point

If I recall correctly, and per @mznyc's clarification post, this image shows the neutral position: And this is first gear:1 point

I would not think they have a leg to stand on? the architecture of the engine is not patented; or if it was, the protection is long expired. I would say to avoid any "cease and desist" as they are going to try to sell it outside of China, and "Defender" cannot be a Trademark. Remember when Ferrari wanted to name the car to commemorate the 150 years of Ferrari the F-150? well, Ford told them no way..... even if Ferrari tentatively said there were no reason anyone could mistake a Ford pickup F-150 with a Ferrari F-150.... On the subject of what China did, still do?; To work in China, all your equipment had to be nationalized and virtually impossible to remove if you had to shut down operations. This is how they could copy absolutely everything that came through. When I worked for SINOPEC, I found that some of the equipment their Chinese contractors used were carbon copies of that same equipment that was imported back in the 80's and 90's. In the same way, when I was living in Paris (France), you could literally see Asian looking people taking pictures of all the exposed fashion in the windows of the big brands. They did the same in Italy with Ceramic and other artisan creations. But china is now well on its way to do things on their own. I don't think they need much more help because the world is completely in their hands for just about everything. Look at the masks used for C19? everybody suddenly discovered they were only made in China!!! More preoccupying, are the aircraft spares with forged documentation to identify them as OEM, while they are not.0 points
