  1. Street motorcycle brake rotors DO wear under normal usage. How long does it take for them to wear below the recommended minimal thickness varies, depending on several factors; how aggressively you use your brakes, how much weight is on the bike, mountain roads riding...etc, but most importantly, the pads you're using; aggressive pads will wear the rotors out a lot faster than softer ones. Checking the rotors thickness with calipers only takes a couple of minutes and should be part of routine maintenance. The minimum thickness stamped on the rotors by the manufacturer is a good indication that, as a wear item, they need to be replaced eventually to remain optimally efficient and safe. Can you keep riding a bike with its front rotors worn thinner than recommended? Sure ...would the brakes still operate normally? Probably ...how far are you willing to go to find out the failing point of your main safety component?... Just like you would replace tires long before the rubber is worn through to the cord... or not.

  2. I wonder if I'm the only one here that's been pulled over by the carabinieri? Maybe not but I bet I'm the only one that's run into the back of a Carabinieri 4WD full of them. Once they found out I was an Aussie and not a German like the Rego plates on my BMW indicated they didn't give a rats arse and were on their way again. Phil

  5. I've actually been stopped by them another time . This occasion in a French registered Renault Megane somewhere in Italy, Florence maybe, cant remember now. Not stopping for a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. The pedestrian was half way across the opposite side of the road and hadn't actually reached the middle of the road and my side of the street so as all Italians do I kept going. Italians don't stop at a crossing for pedestrians until they are about to cross your side of the road. The Carabinieri stopped me, thinking I was a French tourist, saw the Aussie passport and waved me away. The Aussie passport, ticket to do anything at the time. Oh and NOT being French or German. My wife spoke Italian which also helped. Phil

  8. I did the last 10 stops to complete this year's Grand Tour last week-end, 22/23/24 September 2023. I have updated the report consecutively with maps, roadmap, fuel management and photos, if you are interested. I am extremely happy to have not suffered one single problem with the V11 this year; it is the first time since I got the bike in April 2021.

  10. Actually, not the Ballabio, but: yes, 2002 Scura and Tenni had aluminum flywheels with single plate clutch. As well as the 2001 Rosso Mandello.

  11. I got a spare lid from @Scud some years ago. I had grand plans to modify it for my bike, but decided that I liked the standard airbox so didn't use it. Also no chick in NZ seemed to dig it, so if I still have it, you can have it for nix +shipping cost. PM me. Shipping from NZ to UK varies from eye-watering to arm/leg/first born, so be warned.

  12. The bike is on consignment and just gotten in the shop yesterday. Likely won't be listed on his website. Advise to call and ask. It's somewhere in the $4250 range but not firmed up.

  13. I may be wrong but I think the V11 lid and the Cali 1100 lid are the same item. Check numbers but I think they're identical.

  15. The V11 airbox is highly sought-after. Chicks dig 'em. No one seems to be admitting what they use them for, though . . .
