  1. Especially when driven by old men wearing hats.... Bloody hell, I fall into that category myself now but just don't have the Volvo!

  2. Reminds me of the motojournalist that wrote, "No one gets a fast car [motorcycle] to get to work early ."

  4. The only deception is the pronunciation of "Guzzi".... All the rest is spot-on!

  5. Exactly. I wear a hat whenever I leave the house, but I take care to take it off in the car to ensure that I drive safely... I remember one day when I was on my way from Greensborough in to the city. Late eighties or early nineties. On the way through Ivanhoe I came up behind a Volvo station wagon, a couple of years old, squeaky clean and polished to a tee. The custom number plate said "GRANDPA", and the bloke in it hat his hat on. I pulled over and waited for a couple of minutes until he was well gone.

  6. I read this today... Here comes the Tesla battery. To produce it you need to excavate: 12 tons. of rock for Lithium 5 tons. of cobalt minerals 3 t. of mineral for nickel 12 tons. the mineral for the copper Need to move 250 tons. of land to obtain: 12 kg of Lithium 13.6 pounds of nickels 22 kg of manganese 6.8 kg of Cobalt 100 Kg of Rams 200 kg of aluminum, steel and plastic. The Caterpillar 994A used to move this earth consumes 1000 litres of diesel in 12 hours. Here is the “zero emissions” car.

  7. Yes, I remember that period. In Melbourne in the late eighties, Volvos were considered to be the most dangerous cars on the road. Not for the people in the Volvo, for everyone and everything else on the road. Particualarly motorcycles.

  8. @GuzziMoto All the information agree to MM93 inheriting Zarco's GP23; I was aware of the Pramac contract when Bezzecchi started to hint that he should get the factory specs, given his performance at the time. Ducati said at the time, they could only supply four factory spec.ed bikes, by contract. Now, we all know there are plenty of loopholes that can be exploited in contracts; Ducati has shown they can find ways around the regulations without breaking them. My point is that if MM93 becomes a 2024 Championship contender, he will certainly plead getting improvements even if not "factory" bike. Not to forget that Zarco did not get the latest GP23 modifications, which only were attributed to Bagnaia and Martin. Such as the improved holeshot device.

  9. This discussion reminds me of a study of motorcycle fatalities, reportedly released in Europe, where female drivers of Volvos were over-represented in the statistics. Having been convinced they were in the safest car money could buy, the drivers evidently grew less aware and less diligent, basking instead in their (false) sense of safety. I have no doubt that experienced motorcyclists are some of the best automobile drivers in the world. And that any mass in motion is inherently unsafe. Ask anyone who has hit their thumb with a hammer . . .

  10. Ducati allocates its bikes based first on the team. Clearly the factory team gets the current year factory bikes. Pramac also gets current year factory bikes. It is in their contract with the factory. The other two teams, Gresini and VR46, have contracts that give them last years factory bikes. As mentioned, VR46 tried to upgrade their deal to get a current year factory bike, but failed. Ducati said they don't have the capacity to produce a fifth pair of bikes, they can only build four pairs of factory bikes a year. Each rider needs two bikes, so to give a rider a current year bike requires them to build two bikes and the spares required to run two bikes. As mentioned, the four factory 2024 bikes (four pairs of bikes) will go to the factory team and the Pramac team. The contract Pramac has guarantees them two current factory bikes. This past years two factory team bikes and two Pramac bikes will go to the Gresini team and the VR46 team. As I understand it, they are specifically giving Marc Marquez Zarco's bikes from this past year. Zarco rode for Pramac, and as such was on a 2023 factory bike for that team. I do think it is interesting that they are specific as to which rider gets which set of bikes, with Zarco's set of bikes being given to Marc Marquez. https://www.crash.net/motogp/news/1042742/1/ducati-confirm-marquez-will-ride-zarco-s-gp23-not-bagnaia-s-or-martin-s

  11. Back to the topic , cars, drivers were running over motorcyclists long before EVs and self driving novelties . The cell phone has done more harm than good on the road. Numb drivers don't help a thing .

  12. If you want to get the definitive aftermarket exhaust option design wise for the V100 then wait for Akrapovic to offer a full system. They are the gold standard in exhaust design and quality in my view. You can't believe how well an exhaust system is made and fits until you've had a full Akra system in your hands and installed one.
