  2. I have never come across home doors opening outward, and I have been living in a lot of places around the world. It makes sense to have an outward opening for safety in places that have to privilege an emergency exit with a mass effort, for safety purposes. All the doors that have been slammed in my face were always opening inward...

  4. Waterjet guys are back from the Christmas break and an order has been placed for plates in 2mm stainless steel. Will update as soon as they are ready.

  5. Good suggestion, and is easy to check. The bike now has a Le Mans champagne tank on it that I have never used before, so some blockage is possible, although the misfire was only at low rpm. Yes, a smile for the first few minutes. It was running really well at high power, but since I was still inside an urban 80 km/hr speed limit, high power was only for a few seconds. That angry howl above 6000 is balm for the soul. I will look at those components that you suggest this week. The signal lights are "smoke" colour with amber LEDs inside. Lens P/N GU06753700 "Copetta Indic Direz Fume" is standard on a Griso 1200 8V and fits the original V11 lights. I was trying to reduce the number of different colours on the bike.

  6. Got two rides in already this year, yesterday and today. Tomorrow will get another one in! Weather is perfect...50-60 F, blue skies, not much traffic... Yesterday did 150 miles, today did 225 miles...have to exercise the fleet!

  7. Decided yesterday that I'm pulling the pin. As of 21st of Feb this year I'll be handing off Motomoda, the company I've been running for 30+ years to Michael, my offsider. He's spent the last five years absorbing Guzzi knowledge and is more than up to speed on everything built this millenium. Most of our work in the last fifteen years has been V11 and CARC bike related and that will likely continue, although it'll be his business to do with as he chooses. Im 67 in February, I don't have the time or the strength to learn another whole generation of bikes and my health has been declining rapidly. I have no desire to die in harness as it were. I'll still be around as Michael can't ride or move the bikes around but the roles will be reversed. He's the boss and I'll just be the hired help! Please patronise him for parts and service. He knows his shit and will need customers and your support to keep the wheels turning. Cheers guys. Pete

  9. Thanks, @Speedfrog! We knew it was there, somewhere! From the beginning, the tune-up procedure in the V11 Workshop Manual came in for a lot of criticism. Hence, the various alternative methods to achieve reliable tuning outcomes with the V11 Sport/LeMans variants. Take, for example, the phrase " . . . completely closed throttle on the attached rod. " It is, in fact, not possible to completely close the throttle (plate) when attached to the (throttle linkage) rod. Attempting to set the TPS in this fashion would be completely ineffective with a pathetic outcome. Further, allowing a range in the TPS setting that indexes the map a step (or two or three steps) off, would lead to the kind of stumbling, hiccups, idle instability, and other complaints commonly attributed to the V11. While there are maybe a half dozen or more contributors to this undesirable running behavior, performing the "Decent Tune-up", with particular attention to the TPS procedure (Step #2), has benefited countless numbers of V11s. I might suggest that the " +/- 15 mV" language at the very end of the section "If, after this procedure, the idling speed is not within the indicated range " is to prevent the shop technician from fussing with the parameters for another hour. That is, after all, what owners are for . . .

  10. Indeed. To everyone.

  11. Interesting, I recall that range as well, but cannot find a reference to it. Early on, I recall setting my TPS to 165mV (top of the "range") thinking 1) this will give me more fuel and 2) all modern bikes are lean. Both of these assertions are, of course totally wrong. All I succeeded in was to index the mapping a step off. My experience since has borne out Meinolf's 157 mV setting, perhaps +/- 3 in order to stay within the same step on the lookup table.

  12. Looks sharp now. Smile inside the helmet, all sorted, WHAT!! Was she running good full power ? Another TPS check, relay - base. Measure rev sensor when hot. Minor details Marty. Like your discreet signal lights. Cheers Tom.

  13. Those sound like similar symptoms, that my Lemans had on the first hard test ride,,,,, The problem was tank suck, problem solved by changing my TB plumbing & cleaning the 2 vents/lines at the gas cap,,, Fingers crossed that your problem is that easy to solve fwiw fyi

  14. Mate As crazy as the weather is down here in South West Gippsland at the moment it's outa control up North. Northern NSW and Qld are flooded and still the rain keeps coming...yep in Metres in parts! I just hope that when the flooding subsides and dries out we don't get FIRES... it was looking a bit ominous in that regard before the flooding began though so fingers crossed. Cheers

  15. Pretty common these days for Guzzi's of this vintage. Even cycle parts like Brembo callipers are advertised on websites and I know they haven't been available from suppliers for years. If you get a refund in full without transactional losses it's ok but I've been nailed with losses on the refund that's why I ask them to confirm with their suppliers that they have stock before I order and pay. The V11 is now getting to the point spares wise where it's not really the bike to put a lot of miles on anymore. New part supplies have dried up and SH parts can be risky to buy and are getting expensive. Phil

  16. I actually did a first and last ride. Last ride of the year yesterday with some of our local RoSPA group members as one of our regular Sunday runs, covering around 150 miles in total. Twelve of us in total on a variety of hardware. Today, just a spin around locally of around 60 ish miles to play with suspension settings a little. Saw quite a few bikes out and loads of dog walkers, plus a fair few horses and riders around the lanes. Slightly chilly, but a fun couple of days.

  18. Being about fifteen degrees (Fahrenheit) cooler today, I cheated and took my first ride of the year yesterday when it was sunny and 55ºF/13ºC. A group of us used to get together on New Year's Day to ride regardless of the weather to kick off the year right. Before I became a slacker . . . Looking forward to hearing about all of your 'First rides!"

  19. Proved once again mine doesn't work, ran out of gas a half mile from the station today. I tipped the bike over gathering every last drop and rode the remaining way there. I think I threw out my back…
