  1. I've been sent to Foremost for the bikes. Farmer's wouldn't cover them. I have no idea what kind of deal I'm getting. With a house, three bikes, 4 vehicles and a travel trailer, I've lost track. For years, I've been saying I should go to an insurance broker. As much as a tightwad as I am, I've just never had the gumption to get my insurance in place. I know I'm throwing $ thousands a year out the window. I need to get all my policies together and get them bid out. And don't think for a minute that you'll get fairer treatment for a claim than one company vs another. That horse as left the barn. They'll all screw you in a NY minute. Of course it varies from state to state. My state is owned by insurance companies. (Example, my sister has been arguing with State Farm since a tornado took off part of her roof in April! The house still has tarps over it and they're arguing whether they'll pay for a new roof. BTW- the entire town is still in shambles.) *rant over* In my case, the local Farmer's franchise sold my policy to another Farmer's in a town 25 miles away. My town has 90,000 people in metro of 1m. There must a couple of dozen Farmer's closer to me. It's a good time to get my policies together for bid.

  4. Ah, yes, finance contracts (including "insurance"): The Large Print Giveth, and The Small Print Taketh Away.

  6. Yes it is...I had all my insurances requoted by a smaller company in the NW. My policies included 4 passenger vehicles, work truck, motorcycles, earthquake insurance and home. I saved over 3k for apples to apples coverage. When you stay with the same company for years, there is price creep going on that I never noticed. Once I compared, my eyes were opened.

  7. The principle was that, only from Farmers, only for cars. However, to prevent abuse, you had to tell which car was in storage, and which car was active ahead of time. At the time, I had multiple cars, only used one at a time. I would send an email, stating the day and the time, car 1 in storage, car 2 active. Or both cars in storage, or both cars active. The premium would be reduced accordingly, significantly, because I had the most comprehensive insurance policy. Since a lot of you on this forum have multiple motorcycles, I was curious if you had one policy per motorcycle, or if you had a compound = blanket coverage for several bikes, given that you could ride a single one at a time.

  8. Indeed. I am not really worried about material loss. Sure, it is annoying, but it is just "stuff" that you can replace. I however am very concerned with injury. Especially at my age, when everything takes a long time to fix itself. I do defensive driving, but there is only so much you can do. The daily traffic jams have exacerbated people's driving frustration, pushing them to take risks.

  9. Not quite. The price of the policy increases with additional bikes, but by a fairly negligible amount. I don't remember exactly, but when I added a plated 2010-ish WR450F, it raised my premium a couple bucks (literally, $2) over six months. Also, you can have different coverages on different bikes. Only bike I have comprehensive on is the Tenni.

  10. Progressive does allow multiple motorcycles on a single policy. I've had it for years. Actually, they used to limit a policy to five motorcycles, but they since raised that number, I was told. I currently have four insured on my Progressive policy. Maybe they don't offer it everywhere or maybe you didn't speak to the right representative.

  11. A note that the Pacific Northwest (Oregon and Washington) have had some severe weather (snow and now ice) so may be extremely difficult for @DucatiGuzziIndian to ship anything. I'm not sure what it's like in Seattle but our roads in Oregon are lovely sheets of solid ice. Because of high winds a few days ago many, many people are out of power. And this is the first time we've been above freezing (0C, 32F) since last week.

  12. Guzzler Thanks mate. I was hoping to have had this sorted and able to ship to you from Auckland when I was back in NZ just before Christmas but shit happens. The plates have all had a quick random DA but because they were waterjet there was no burr on the edges anyway. Got a solution for packaging but need to buy some foam to wrap them in. I'll do that this weekend. Should be ready to start shipping next week.

  15. 5 days out, a few days there and 5 days back. The fun route we did last time from Houston: Outbound: Houston - Amarillo - Pagosa Springs - Durango - Silverton - Ouray - Grand Junction - Provo - Golden spike/Promontory - Twin Peaks Idaho - backroads to John Day. Return: John Day - Pendleton - Walla Walla - Lewiston - Kookskia - Lolo - Red Lodge (over the Beartooth / Chief Joseph) - Cody - Thermopolis thru Wind River canyon - Steamboat - Dillon - Trinidad - Raton - Amarillo - Dallas - Houston Total of about 5200 miles on that trip, lots of time for nice sightseeing...I wouldn't dream of rushing it and slabbing it all the way, there are so many interesting backroads and non interstates to take. the Rally was about 320 folks, well organized, NOTHING like the Lone Star rally, onsite tech support at the time from Matt Forslund (NM Guzzi rep with a trailer/tools), plenty of nighttime events, songs, campfires, small groups, raffles, group photos etc...really nice event. It may or may not be one of the last times a National is held, who knows...but it's a fun event...last time in this location was 2016... Age is absolutely not an issue...you'll fit right in...

  16. We discussed material offline. My plates were .080" 304 Stainless. Let me add one more thing here; I can tell you that taking on this burden for the benefit of the community and without any meaningful profit is a favor not to be made light of. I stuck my neck out for many thousands of dollars up front and I may have kept enough profit to pay for my gas to the post office. If there's one among us who will willingly take a passed torch, I'm one to thank them and sit back down.

  17. I mean, mySport has never run better. I guess I'll install a Genuine / P.Roper MotoModa ® plate "when the time comes." Maybe when the Genuine Joe Caruso® timing gears get mounted. Maybe replace the original valve cover gaskets . . . I am very proud that V11LeMans.com, and @Pressureangle in particular, has honored @pete roper's engineering/design contribution to this community.

  18. We got mail yesterday before the ice came in. And yes, we were surprised. Temps are rising here so the ice is melting, so now we will have to deal with... flooding.
