Hi, it didn't take that much time. The 157mV instead of 150mV is simply based on a rounding error in the OEM TPS lookup table. 5V/255=0,01953V 8x0,01953= 0,1563V=156,3mV Now one may argue if the 6,3mV difference is significant. No, it isn't. But why use a wrong value if the correct one is known. Cheers Meinolf4 points

I'll start sending a few emails to people today with a final amount to pay. I have the commercial invoices filled out for the overseas people. Final cost per unit came out to $89.65 USD plus whatever the shipping cost will be. I'll be off to UPS Monday Seattle time and will get the shipping cost for the overseas guys and will email them then. Got a couple family things on this weekend but I'll keep on this until they are all sent. Thanks!3 points

An anecdote on the side, sort of related to "who is fast and who is hitching a ride", and Barry. Barry Sheene moved to Australia for the climate. He stayed in touch with the racing scene, and was a commentator for motorcycle races on Australian television (and was very good at it..). I read in a motorcycle magazine that he got to ride one of the then (some years after his retirement from racing) competitive bikes. It might have been Mick Doohan's Honda, but I'm not sure. According to the report in the magazine, Barry went out on the bike in jeans and sneakers, and pulled a lap time that would have got him a position well up on the grid.3 points

Hi, as to the question why more TPS breakpoints are used in the low range than in the upper. It's about flow area increase when the butterfly valve is opened. The flow area resulting from the movement is based on a rather complicated cosine formula, several years ago Beard kindly wrote a small program to simplify the calculation. Looking at the 1st (TPS degree) and 4th column (free flow area in mm^2 including the butterfly axle diameter) one can derive the change in %. 7.7/5.2=1.46=46% increase 22.0/20.0=1,1=10% increase So, ~2.3 TPS degree change at low throttle opening result in 46% flow area increase, a 2.0 TPS degree change in mid range is 10% flow area. It makes sense to use TPS breakpoints which provide the a like flow area increase. Cheers Meinolf2 points

I wouldn't risk it. 20 year old rubber is too old for me at highway speeds. Needs to have good rubber, oil and fuel. But that's me.2 points

Two days ago we had about 12"C. Yesterday and today about 8"C. Some rain, and lots of wind. It's still cold, but it's like Spring sent a postcard with the message "hey, I'll be round in about 6 weeks. See you then".2 points

That's a lot of effort just to make a parallel twin sound like a Guzzi.1 point

KTM doesn't run a 270 crank, I think they run a 290 to match their 70 degree V twins. However lots of parallel twin are 270 like Yamaha and Suzuki. I think Kawa runs 180 and Triumph runs several types. Edit, I just saw the video and he makes the point about KTM. He says they run a 285 crank, so I stand corrected. That's what I get when I read the titles and ASS-ume that I might know something.1 point

quite interesting. My buddy Bill got a KTM 790 Duke last spring. It's very fast and sounds lovely, even with stock pipes.1 point

Just me saying, you will need new rubber anyway, do it before the trip home. Stranded at the road, usually more expensive and you don’t have to tell yourself what an #kr&%- l was. Have a friend who bought one VERY cheap 3years ago. Why, last owner gave it up. Wasn’t rideable in the 3k range. Last owner left it at a dealer who put a PC on it, paid a lot money, still NOT good. My friend knows computers, still did a lot of tuning with the ECU. Now she is running good. Bike has more than 90k km, no problem. Hopefully a nice trip home. Cheers Tom.1 point

The one in Arizona. Exactly! in the USA, you find many cities with the same name.1 point

Any wonder. As I understand it, that number "4704" means it was produced in the 47th week of 2004. Even so, I would be inclined to risk it. Don't load the bike up too much, and take it easy. And put new tyres on it as soon as you get home. The front tyre still has good profile, but it looks pretty old to me too.1 point

For which a lot of the credit goes to Barry Sheene. Of topic, I know, but credit where it is due.1 point

Thank you all for that good stuff. Some of it I was aware of, but the overall knowledge of this group pointed me to other things I might not have considered.1 point

Personally I'd like to go to the old WSB and current BSB qualifying format where the rider has one warmup lap and then a lap to put down his fastest time. Eliminates the towing bullshit, the yellow flag on the hot lap rubbish and the race grid reflects the true order of who has the outright speed. Currently you can and do have riders with 3rd and 4th row raw speed on the front two rows a lot of the time due to nothing more than getting a tow during qualifying. They then get in the way and hold up the genuinely faster rider at the race start for 5 or 6 laps and ruin his race. Phil1 point

15M. This isn't some magical Meinolf figure John it's the factory setting for the V11 Sport. Your bike is 150MV +- 15mv so 157 is well withing the tolerance. Phil1 point

Can you imagine Roberts( either) Hailwood, Hayden, Sheene, riding like that..waiting around for a Tow so they could make qualifying?...Shameful.1 point

In the early days I lusted after the Magni fairing for my Sport. It would've been quite the financial commitment especially here in Oz.After a while though I realised that if I had gone with one I'd have been forever swapping between it and the Stucchi.A bit more time and I've come to prefer the Stucchi...really prefer it, so glad I never went down the path of the Magni.I dare say though the minister of finance would've made it er difficult anyways...ha ha. I agree with Mick though in that the V11 does need a fairing to balance it out. As good as bare breasted is, in this case she kinda looks better with her bikini top on! Cheers1 point

It all depends on the color. Early Legnano Green Sports have all been thrashed to within a millimeter of their useful lives. Black RedFrame Sports have been kept in jewelry boxes with little more than an occasional dusting. Silver Sports, now, are the Queens of the Realm and command a substantial premium (Mille Lire!/ five bucks).1 point

I'm not talking about "DRAFTING".. I'm talking about chicken shit waiting to go out and targeting specific rider's to annoy...I was around then..., and racing myself.0 points
