Here at last. Three litre inline 6 turbo and six speed manual. Basically a BMW Z4 with Toyota hardtop body. Two seats only and low.4 points

Don't worry , something else will let go and make you forget all about this problem4 points

Bloody hell. I just replaced mine after this scenario and looks like same cause! Thats possibly 3 of us in the last month bitten by the nefarious breather hose! Cheers Guzzler Ps it does look terrible and terminal doesn't it but thankfully not so!3 points

Correct you should not plug the line to the airbox or the crankcases cant vent. If you have positive CC pressure due to blow by then you have a real issue. Most of what people see coming from the PCV or CC vent is air movement due to the pumping process of the pistons. It's easier for the CC air being pumped around by the rising and falling pistons to vent out the breather than follow the sometimes convoluted internal route to the underside of the rising piston. Sometimes CC pressure can briefly go to zero or a little below on a wet sump engine that uses a reed valve in the breather such as Ducati twins have for years and years. As the CC air is expelled out the breather any slight pressure is vented and the reed valve then closes and the CC pressure will go to zero or fractionally below very briefly. Phil2 points

Crankcase pressure is always more than ambient due to piston ring blowby, however slight. This is unavoidable on all piston engines unless you have an unusual feature like a scavenge pump. For this reason, crankcase pressure will slowly build until it finds an escape path. If you block the vent going to the airbox, the pressure will rise until it relieves somewhere else, possibly showing as an oil leak. I don't think you should block that hose.2 points

My 03 Lambda equipped model did that. Couldn't get rid of it. Right at 100 odd KPH cruising speed and same around the town. I ended up putting an earlier model ECU in so ditched the lambda. Loaded the titanium map and went through the decent tune up (Linky by Doc above) and it transformed the bike. A real joy to ride now.2 points

Time to part ways with this fantastic motorcycle. I'm just too into the ADV scene and want another lightweight DS option in the garage. Here's the rundown: #603 with just over 24k miles on the clock. I believe I'm the third owner. Purchased from an L.A. area owner in 2014 w/ the following: - Receipts from Moto Guzzi Classics, and Motoservizio in Signal Hill, CA as well as Evoluzione CycleSports in Simi Valley. - High compression pistons w/ related gaskets, Stucchi crossover, Mistral Ti cans, fuel pressure modifier kit (fuel injected Ducati p/n 90200_00), PC III. - Carbon rear fender, black color matched tail section, CRG mirrors. I've done the following: - Roper plate, Scud spring, Lucky Phil shift link extender, adjusted the shift mechanism and it's glorious. Shifts are precise now and buttery smooth. Many thanks to the forum. - Ghezzi-Brian CF belly pan, re-upholstered rear seat and seat pad. Black head guards. Plugs and wires immediately after purchase. - Lightened the Ohlins fork springs from 1.05 to .95, Rizoma clutch and brake reservoirs, GRG levers, new grips, Li-ion battery w/ tender. - Sorted what I felt was a "thin" clutch throw / engagement with some thorough clutch bleeding and the issue has been rectified. Nice "long", controllable engagement range. No leaks, no peeling motor paint. Some chipping on the porkchops, but no scratches of scuffs on the body work. Sticker on the tank is covering the area where the Nanny State sticker were and the area below the OEM decals is visually different than the rest of the tank. Veglia tach needle is a little faded and dances a bit on throttle blips and shifts, but doesn't swing wildly. Fires easily, runs very well, no leaks, and always puts a smile on my face when I ride it. All shop work performed on this bike by EDR Performance in Beaverton, OR. Clutch and brake fluid flush along with fork service and new fork seals completed 2/18/24. New rubber gauge dampeners added 5/19/24. Final drive was recently serviced, O&F are fresh. Diablo Corsas have <500 mi on them. I'll go back and review all my receipts to see if there's anything I've omitted. Owners and service manuals, original tool kit. Additional set of the black OEM silencers, too. Additional pics or answers to your questions. Just DM me. Would like to see her go to an enthusiast.1 point

Yes, it fit perfect. I ride SoCal freeways to work, 25 miles one way. The entire trip I'm averaging 75-95mph. Even at extended high speeds, no leaks, no issues.1 point

audiomick and lagrasta, all sounds good. I saw some of those threads, where folks talked about a lot of oil coming from the breather/system, and some saying that wasn't the case for them, but those seemed to all be in regard to the actual case vent (hose). On this greenie the breather hose is in place and looks intact, the infamous one that is prone to failure (crack/leak), as is the return line which goes down to the oil pan, so the essentials are in place. Hard to imagine not letting it "breath" from the 3rd, top-most hose would be an issue, but thats what i'm noodling....1 point

@docc I wrote to Bicilindrica, "La Rivista dei Guzzisti". They have access to people with the insider's knowledge. I checked with a number of companies that repair Veglia Borletti instruments, but it is always related to cars, and as expected, they don't really have experience with this particular Moto Guzzi Tachometer, other than telling me to send it, pay the significant bench fee, and accept the outcome, whatever it would be. I shall see if I can get a clear indication of what the problem is.1 point

@docc Unfortunately, the erratic behavior of the white face Veglia tachometer persisted. It seemed more steady at low speed, but that was just a lure. At speed, the rpm shown decrease as you go faster. I have been reading a lot of threads related to this issue, and no confirmed root cause. "This old Tractor" has a method to open the instrument, which is a major venture and often results in breaking the lens. I do not want to risk it, and I will rather accept the tachometer as is. I have some clues that I am going to follow. If and when I go to Italy, I may be able to find someone who can really tell me what is the root cause of the problem.1 point

Thanks for the quick diagnosis, all, and thanks for moving to a new topic, Docc. May be a minute before I get to it, however. Fortunately, the other V11 is ready to ride on the next nice day. Cheers, Frey1 point

There is no "cloth" woven into the rubber hose and it is typical non-Japanese quality rubber . It will deteriorate sitting on the shelf !1 point

Yep. It's a bugger to get at, the bike has to be mostly naked, but a fairly cheap and undramatic fix. This is the part. I couldn't find it at Stein Dinse, although I thought I bought mine there last year. https://wendelmotorraeder.de/oelschlauch-entlueftung-dick_gu30157400-p-1009234.html?ref=expl When you do your "tank-off maintenance", it's worth considering changing that out on spec. As I said, it is a bugger to get to. The tube gets old and hard, and splits eventually. That looks like your pictures, or if it is the other end (as mine was) like a leaking output shaft seal on the motor. Whilst you're in there, if in any doubt at all about it's integrity, replace it, even if it is not the cause of your current leak.1 point

Did I tell you guys I joined the 100mph (1/4 mile) club this summer at the BIR drag strip? out of 125 racers I had the third fastest reaction time. Got me into the shoot out but I jumped the light in the finals.1 point
