  3. Not guilty. I can barely comprehend the English language. I tell people that after several years of German in HS that I know more German from Hogan's Heros.

  6. Today, a burglar entered our community and stole some bicycles. My Le Mans was parked outside, with the keys in the ignition. But he ignored it. The police came, and I was intrigued that the officer could say Moto Guzzi the proper way, and said he should get himself one.... One more perk to own a V11, thieves don't steal them out of respect!

  7. Docc…This is indeed one of the local favorites…quite a refreshing beer and one of the more commonly drunk in the summer. Shiner is a spot we somewhat frequently go thru on rides…they remind me a bit of Leinenkugel from Wisconsin (affectionately known as Leinys). Both go quite well with Bratwurst…sometimes my cousins and uncles in Wisconsin would marinate their brats for a day in beer and then cook them. Many small towns here have German, Czech and Polish origins…

  10. Finally got a chance to pull her off the stand and get her out on the road, for a run-in-the-sun down to the local ethanol-free gas station. Proof of life. She has a different feel than the Lemans(s), or at least more than I had expected. She starts, idles, and runs sweet, but is a bit more buzzy at some rpm's (pods/airflow/TBS, etc), and I feel as though she's a lot smaller for my tall-ish body than the Lemans, though I know that's mostly in my head. Now back to Goldie, to see if I can get her ready for the June 28 MG gathering at John Day, for my Guzzi buddy to ride (i'll be on Red)

  11. Returning, in some convoluted way, to the matter of things German(ic), I found it most interesting that Mexican beer, and many from Texas, owe their origins to the Germans (and "Austrians") that emigrated here under Emperor Maximillian. Max did not stay, but the beer did! One of my current favorites: Shiner Bock (Shiner, Texas) from the Spoetzl Brewery. ("Spötzl?")
