  1. When I was 16, with my motorcycle driver's license in my pocket, earned on a Honda CB350, came the tedious choice of picking a first motorcycle. When you are 16 your budget is obviously limited. There was that super large dealership, multi-brands, named Robo from the owner's name, Jean Robo; there, was one of the MV Agusta 750 S; I think it was three times the price of anything else. Yet, I walked the 30 minutes to and from every Saturday, salivating in front of all that splendor congregated under the same roof. I found a link containing photos and printed ads of the place. Almost all the bikes shown below, the vintage ones, must have been on sale at Robo at some point in time. Not the Bimota Tesi;

  2. The max voltage is too high. Is this figure with the headlights on or off? 14.6 volts will eventually cook the battery. As docc pointed out 12.6 is a little low at idle but then it depends on what the true idle actually is. Phil

  3. If you have intermittent operation of the indicators, then you have bad connections or bad grounds.   6. I looked back through the entire thread and have to suggest adding a dedicated ground/earth from the regulator case to the timing chest. Also, to clean/tighten/seal the main ground to the back of the gearbox on the right (behind the seat latch actuator). It would be telling if the charging voltage changes after addressing the grounds.

  7. From the Odyssey website; "the alternator should provide between 14.2 and 14.5 volts at the battery terminals." So you are just above their target range and below the maximum 15 volts they warn not to exceed. Another number for the Odyssey battery to know is voltage when fully charged. They say the Odyssey battery will read 12.84 volts when fully charged at 77 degrees F after sitting for at least 6 hours to settle out after charging. That is slightly higher then some other batteries voltage when fully charged. Finally, the Sparker battery that came stock in many, if not all, V11 Sports was for all intent and purpose an Odyssey battery by a different name. So, if there is any concern that the stock charging system will work with the Odyssey battery, well, I would say it seems the factory thought it would.

  10. The odyssey battery is fine up to 15 volts according to the people that make it. Here in the states you can't turn the headlight off. And the V11 Sport stock R/R uses the headlight circuit for its battery voltage reference as I recall. If you turn the headlight off it would stop charging.

  11. I don't know about the Englishman's pedantic narration. I like the well composed diction. I am unable to listen to anything when people try to squeeze as many words per minute as they can; maybe this is what they are trying to avoid? boring their audience? in my case, it has the opposite effect. That, the talking heads, don't forget to like and subscribe, my name is Gontrand. I am guessing that by now, the people watching YouTube understand the subscription and like button. In many cases, they forget that a video is to convey a message using images. Otherwise, it should be a podcast. My favorite, so far, are the guys "reacting" to a song, or a video, an event. It seems to be successful, because we have more and more of those too.

  13. The low idle voltage could be down to a low idle. These tachs can read 300-500 rpm high. No big deal, perhaps, at cruising speeds, but setting your idle at 1,000 rpm with the tach when that is really 500-700 rpm is not good. Use Guzzidiag to confirm the actual idle and the "Decent Tune-up" for the idle procedure. Good to keep an eye on the charging voltage. The Odyssey is not to exceed 15.0 volts.

  14. A few weeks to go until the Cedar Vale rally. Will pick up a couple more stops on the Grand Tour of Texas along the way, possibly ride up with a friend from Terrell for the 2nd half of the trip. All Guzzi's or other brands welcome...welcome all.

  16. Riddle seems to be solved - Angle Drive But I still do not understand.. It turned by hand, it turned by rolling motorcycle. It turned cable going down road disconnected from speedo. But when I connected cable to both different speedometers it would work for about 4 miles and start fluttering and quit. No idea whats wrong with angle drive other than a new one seems to have corrected problem.

  17. Hoping to learn more about the origins of the Moto Guzzi SpineFrame, this publication does not disappoint! All this time, I thought the original Spine Frame was a "Daytona" 8V Hi-cam. Not so! The first SpineFrame Guzzi, the V11 Sport prototype so-to-speak, was this 1987 2V. Also, the first SpineFrame: "Made in America!"
