I've been in a lot of storms, from Hurricane Wilma's eye to a Minnesota tornado to sailing in 80 knot winds and rain in the Atlantic. Worst I've ever seen was I-10 West of Dallas in 1980. It went from 'jeez look at that cloud' to my buddy driving with his head out the window, drowning, just to be able to see the line in the road so he could find the shoulder in about 3 minutes. Literally could not see the Oldsmobile hood ornament. I've never before or since seen that much water come from the sky. I don't think anyone can really understand it until they've stood under it.2 points

Yep, like a motor oil topic, but at least with this moto guzzi group, less hostile! I’d second much of whats been shared…. Italy used to be the spot for espresso when i was younger, as even the gas stations in teh 80’s (Pavesi, etc) would serve up decent or even really good espresso. I’d brag about it to my kids, then over the years most of those places replaced the barista with a machine. Gross. Had the proper chemical effect if looking to get jacked-up to rip down the auto-strata and into downtown Rome, giving the bird to everyone as a matter of course on a normal day, but the machines even from illy and other brands produce rotgut. That said, to be fair, i also have to say that those old Italian places where the whole population would be there espresso shots, i distinctly remember seeing locals get their espresso cup, then grab the sugar container and and do a long pour of white crystals. That part tends to get glossed over in my fond memories. So maybe the Jo wasn’t as great as those gas stations…. And as others have pointed out, Oz is where odds are high you can get a great shot. Love to hit New Zealand to tour and sample espresso, and i suppose the Sauv Blancs and even Pinots they’re famous for…. Vacation list for eventually.2 points

Not long ago, I stood by while my two boys debated the priorities of making the perfect coffee. The connoisseur declared that a fresh roasting (within days) of quality beans is paramount. The chemist-son argued that the extraction time and temperature were the foremost factor. While they never could agree, I can say I have never had better coffee when either of them made me a cup. All of the coffee-making parameters remind me of The Decent Tune-up . There is really no one aspect "most important" - it is an orchestration. All elements must be present to achieve the outcome.2 points

Listed my Scura on eBay. Great bike but just not riding anymore and selling all my bikes. This one has been sitting a couple years now and will need a Guzzi enthusiast to go through and address any issues it may have. Before I stopped riding it, had the original clutch replaced just to prevent any issues although the original clutch was working fine. Also had the roper plate installed and fluids changed out. It’s not a show bike but has lots of potential and engine starts right up. Let me know if you have any questions or if you’d like more detailed close up pictures. There is no reserve but I’ve listed the opening bid at the minimum bid I’d want to accept. Thanks for looking. https://www.ebay.com/itm/266835157416?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=zRMW97WjRiO&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=zRMW97WjRiO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY1 point

We got back to NZ to visit a cousin about an hour north of Auckland a few years ago.... Ooh wee... did we enjoy the Pinot in Auckland! In the summer when it's a bit warm for Shiraz I do enjoy a Marlborough Sauv. Blanc too! Yep, add good wine to that list of things life's too short for..! Cheers NZ pies are the best too!1 point

@PJPR01 I am sorry to hear your house was damaged! I lost the contents of two freezers full of brisket and other kind of Angus meat. In today's prices, this represented a significant write-off. I remained without power almost a full six days; I tried to stay without AC, because of the humidity, it makes it impossible to sleep when temperatures are above 80F. The saddest realization is that the crews came, cleanup the fallen trees over the medium voltage lines, but did not touch the other damaged trees. Next high windstorm and the power will get knocked off again. I am getting confused why those exposed lines don't get buried underground, to get rid of the problem once for good... A few trees fell on houses, but those were inside private properties. Some of my neighbors have generators, but they make too much noise for my taste. In any case, they are not powerful enough to power the AC; at least, they have lights and fans.1 point

I remember on a very long family trip to Europe in 1978, my dad was fond of swiping those little espresso cups from every cafe we visited, by the end of the 5 month trip galavanting around Europe in a Mercedes van that we had quite a collection by the end. A real treasure trove of cups and saucers. Cafe Meinl, Agip 6 legged dog and others come to mind, special cafe's in Trieste, Bolzano, Bassano del Grappa were some of the favorite haunts on that trip.1 point

Hmm "Don't miss the V11 Cafe, down in the heart of Maggie Valley for the world's best Italian Motorcycle BS and pretty good espresso, too" Just have to find some conscientious Stupefyin' Jones to run it lol1 point

Hey buddy I have a v11 cafe sport Had the exact same issue you describe. Did the full tune... still had an issue... same as you, just started happening. I had an exhaust leak at the crossover pipe just in front of the timing cover. Replaced my headers with non-crossover type, problem GONE. Not saying it is the crossover, but a small exhaust leak reaked havoc with my bike.1 point

Another day and another thunderstorm with damaging winds and possible floods in Houston! Seems like my Radar App is sending me warnings throughout the day, every day. I wish those would be over sooner than later. No matter how impervious you are, you can't ride in storms like this.1 point

Coffee...a few years back, DW and son bought me a GeneCafe coffee roaster. I had roasted years before that using Melitta hot air roasters and then a Nesco catalytic roaster. You do not save all that much when buying green beans, but you have your choice of 50+ varieties of beans and infinite roast levels. Can do a half-pound every half hour. As the green bean seller states: "Life is too short for bad coffee"1 point
