  1. That’s a Corbin seat. No, passengers aren’t a thing with a Corbin. Mind you passengers have to be pretty masovhistic to get on the back of any Griso! I have a Corbin on Yellow Bike. It is a superb saddle for my fat arse!

  2. I know nothing of the systems you're referring to or the V85, I just chimed in response to @ScuRoo comment on the O2 sensor and I've no clue what's on a V85 Most OEM lambdas fitted are narrow band, meaning they only "see" close to Stoichiometric conditions, so they can only sense rich/perfect/lean conditions. AFAIK that then causes a short term fuel trim to start adjusting towards target, but the sensor can only tell the ECU I'm to rich/lean and then an iteration process begins until the sensor detects a different condition. More expensive wide band sensors can tell the ECU the value over a wider range (or band) so the ECU can react to the O2 value, so it's faster and fuel values can be more accurately targeted. No clue with the Guzzis as mine are all ancient open mapped, but some of the Beemers use RpidBike Modules which piggyback the ECU and adjust mapping on the fly. Some modules can use wideband sensors to adjust fuelling to a chosen A/F ratio which can even be seen (if desired) by another add on and targets adjusted on the fly. https://www.dimsport.it/en/rapid-bike/youtune/ Probably of no relevance whatsoever, but thought I'd mention it, apologies if I'm way off topic

  4. So it begins. Let me say first, I'm not riding a Moto-Guzzi. A nice '04 BMW R1150GSA Adventure got thrown at me instead of a V85TT, thanks a lot guys. I'm leaving tomorrow morning, 28 June from El Paso. Should be an easy ride through Albuquerque to Chama. I intended to ride the Toltec Steam excursion but looks like weather doesn't want me to hang around there Sunday. I may post some pictures here, but mostly just put them in a Google Album with this link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/RLJDCUNS6Pwux8gj7 We'll spend plenty of time out of cell service, and I'm not carrying anything with a keyboard. Oh, already had someone ask why I don't post a thread in the ADV forum. Well, because there are only 2 people I know on that forum, one is in this forum and the other is the old friend meeting me in Bozeman. Or Billings, or Sturgis, if I don't dawdle too much on the way up. Besides, the ADV forum is full of menies.

  6. Francesco Bagnaia is the new king of Assen, or so it seems. After dominating each and every practice session, he just went away during the sprint race, and Jorge Martin could only watch him go. I much enjoyed Moto America Qualifying 1 yesterday, with Loris Baz 1 and Josh Herrin 2. I never understood how can a 6.3' tall guy can ride racing motorcycles.

  7. If it’s O2 sensor equipped - when operating in closed loop it will always eventually optimise fuelling to stoichiometric ratio of approx 14.7:1 even if you free up the breathing. As soon as you crack open the throttle it’ll be into open loop by which although a generally richer air fuel mixture from factory you can focus on changing and optimising to suit your mods and performance tastes. After my own experience on my bike - I now would always start by upgrading the O2 sensor for a quality, sensitive (as in quick-changing) sensor first. And proceed from that starting point onwards

  8. I found another "orange" one... the passenger foot pegs have been removed, and I think the seat is not made to carry passengers. The exhaust muffler is without DB killer. 12k miles, 2015, 7.5 kUSD. https://

  10. No food at the campsite, at least that's the story- but the other two are Canadians so I'll bet all my gas money there will be grilled cheese sammiches for breakfast. Got insect repellent jammies, skeeter nets for over helm, bear spray across the border where they take it seriously. Lunch in Cuba, NM.

  13. Most of the ‘Poor mileage’ thing is or was to do with the shitty factory mapping, especially with the early maps, along with the problems associated with loud pipes/short pipes. Certainly if you ride around at higher rpm fuel economy plummets but that’s the result of the side draft heads and narrow included valve angle + cam timing. To get it to produce the *Needed* 100 RWHP the sacrifice was made in VE at higher rpm. As long as I’m not really sticking the spurs in both of mine will return 220-230Km before the fuel light comes on and that happens when there is still about 4.5 litres in the tank meaning my range is about 300+Km before I sputter to a halt. I don’t think that’s terrible? Yes, the flat tappet fiasco was a disgrace but it is what it is and once rollerised there are rarely further repercussions. While there are other issues with CARC series bikes generally most of them are now well known and usually easily addressed. I don’t see the 8V’s as any more or less reliable generally than the 2 valvers and both, using the W5AM controller, are prone to abuse by those ignorant of how the system works and the beetle-browed followers of the ‘Loud pipe and shitty air filter will make it go faster’ brigade! As most of you know, I’m an 8V evangelist. I love the motor and the CARC bike series and feel they were generally overlooked and ignored with no real justification. As for Griso? No, they aren’t for everyone but the day I can’t ride mine any more will be one of the saddest days of my life……

  14. Of course I'm a cheap Guzzi Guy (tm) but for that kind of money, I'd learn to love the sound of the stock exhaust until Guzzidiag cracks the code. (shrug)
