Yes, the 2003-on Rosso Corsa are long frame V11 with the long tank (internal pump/filter) and the LeMans faring with the checkerboard graphics. And Ohlins!). @MojoFuzzi's Rosso Corsa The 2001 Rosso Mandello is a special edition first generation Sport with short (black) frame, short tank (chin pad with external pump/filter), and a carbon fiber "flyscreen" (fork mounted). @Guzzijens's Rosso Mandello If you leave a Rosso Corsa and a Rosso Mandello in the garage too long without adult supervision, a Ballabio could be the outcome . . . @Steve S's Ballabio4 points

I always enjoyed Glen Campbell's music and will always be amazed at all the artists he played with. It is a very long list. His talents were in demand as he was a master of his craft. Minor detail correction...he and Tayna were never married, but for their short time together they were in the news quite a bit. Here is a link to the story about Witchita Lineman, one of my all time favorite songs. The music video is included but some advertisements too. Couldn't do anything about that. https://www.musicradar.com/news/glen-campbell-wichita-lineman4 points

I hope they do bring out a LeMans/Sport variant.. It doesn't have to be another irrelevant 200 horsepower 180kg waste of time that can only be used on a track. With the resurgence of the sport bike in a smaller more manageable variant, there's gotta be some buyers willing to buy a sporty Guzzi with a personality rather than the anodyne offerings from the usual suspects...?3 points

I just had an 18 SEER, 2 ton, SAMSUNG mini-split installed in an 850 square foot garage with a twelve foot ceiling. This has completely transformed the space into something that can be used to work in or play music, including keeping sensitive string instruments there.2 points

I have discovered that in the USA, for ACs, the unit used is the Ton of Refrigeration; SEER – Stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. This measures efficiency across an entire cooling season. A higher SEER rating translates to lower electricity costs. EER – Denotes Energy Efficiency Ratio. This measures efficiency at peak conditions (95°F outdoor temp). A higher EER indicates the AC can maintain cooling on extremely hot days. Here are the minimum federal efficiency standards in the U.S.: Split System ACs: 13 SEER / 10.8 EER Packaged ACs: 14 SEER / 11 EER Based on the square footage of your garage, you should decide how many tons or BTU/hr you need; I suggest you read this: https://www.pickhvac.com/central-air-conditioner/cost/by-tonnage/2 points

Thanks for all the help guys, I fabricate some brackets and managed to source some 1100 sport footrests via the Dutch Guzzi forum. I also had to re-fabricate the position of the indicators because I had previously fitted a tail tidy. I tried to post a picture via my mobile but it says the file is to big. Might try it later on the laptop. Anyway, all fitted now and went for a test ride, sounds great 👌🏻 cheers 👋🏼2 points

Yes. My navigation device (Garmin Zumo XT) is sluggish showing changes in speed, but absolutely accurate if you hold a speed for a while. That allows one to "calibrate" the speedo, i.e. know what speed is really being held when the speedo is showing a particular speed. Helps a real lot. And the Garmin tells me where I am going, is waterproof, and solid enough to have survived falling off the roof of the car after my girlfriend forgot it there and drove off with it on the roof. It was in a textile pouch, without padding, and came away without even a scratch.1 point

Don't know, time is limited. It's not my trip, so anything's possible. I was supposed to meet the guys in Bozeman, but they've had dire rain for 5 days now. I'm in Custer, SD and they should get in this afternoon. Cool as I've never been to the Black Hills area before. Today's mission is to find tent space for 3, into the July 4 weekend. Secret Weapon; Forest Service park map dhowing all free camping areas, unlisted elsewhere.1 point

I agree that really consistent readings are all that is needed. If you have that you can adjust your speed accordingly. That said, if you really want a second opinion on vehicle speed I would recommend adding a GPS. It will not only very accurately tell you how fast you are going but it will also help you know WHERE you are going. They offer a number of motorcycle friendly GPS options. You don't need a motorcycle friendly GPS but it does make a difference. Motorcycle friendly versions tend to be better able to handle wet weather and their screens tend to work better while wearing gloves.1 point

Yesterday, I rode to the Iron Power Sport Triumph dealership to order oil. Temperature 97 deg F, felt 109 deg F; I went with the KNOX shirt, and it is painful. Even with the mesh air intake, hot air is still hot air, no way around it. On the way to, at posted speed, it is not comfortable, but bearable. On the way back, there was a major accident on the highway, resulting in miles long stop and go, and the uncomfort became more pronounced. Two weeks ago, I was in Phoenix, with a measured temperature of 106 deg F, and it did not feel as bad as here. The major inconvenience is of course the humidity which acts as the media to transmit. I have read about those "cooling" contraptions, and they may be suitable for shorter rides. My understanding is their effectiveness is very limited, especially when riding a motorcycle in our current environment. I think the only system that would probably work is an astronauts' suit, completely hermetical, with the temporary chemical cooling unit carried in a bag. Maybe a company will come up with a system that can be integrated to motorcycles. Or something like a dry diving suit, similar to what is used to dive in cold waters. Apart from riding early in the morning, or late in the afternoon, there is not much mitigation I can think of to make the situation less stressing. I think the major aspect of this situation is your own health. So far, I am able to ride in the heat without any other issue than the uncomfort. But I know the signs that precede a heat stroke. I don't even need to drink that much at all, even if it is one of the recommendations. I stay away from those industrial beverages, water is the best. Another tip which I have used for a long time and that seems to work, at least for me, I do not eat during the journey. Only when I reach my destination.1 point

ya, hang on to your hat, the last gasps of spring are just finally playing out. i think it will be hot for good now for a while. Jackson has indeed changed. for what its worth, the fellow that bought my KTM 990 this spring is on a trip up to Alaska right now, and said he discovered this little area that was fun to explore based on a tip from a local. on the Cassiar highway, sort of in the area that i’ve always just passed through, but which always looked like it could merit a little more poking around someday. not sure if you’re doing the Cassiar in either direction, but here’s the google map link just in case: https://maps.app.goo.gl/LgfNzcBN9tu2CdwWA?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy1 point

That looks like the best thing and a good price too. I bought a Phoenix bleed system about 20 yrs. ago , used it four Xs . I would install those bleed screws and be happy with it. Also , you need to purchase bleed screw caps to keep out the bad stuff .1 point

That concept has been around for a while, and keeps turning up. It is from Oberdan Bezzi, and there is no guarantee that Moto Guzzi are paying any attention to him. https://oberdanbezzi.artstation.com/projects/3qwb4D?album_id=11177621 point

The facts . The only pivot and jam nut I have is a (I measured) 20mm X 1.0 thread pitch . The outer hex is a 30mm head on the jam nut. Searching Fastenal website gives only 20x2.5 thread pitch only. You can Google and find plenty of offerings there . Not all taps/dies are created equal . Maybe someone will chime in on their favorite brand(s) of taps. The miracle of all miracles . I keep LOTS of things .a.k.a. JUNK in many plastic drawers . @ 3:45 a.m. I walked out into the shop , opened the first drawer and "presto" found the jam nut/pivot bolt . Glen Campbell was a far better musician than he is usually given credit for..and a fantastic picker.... About 2 years before he passed My wife and I were out to eat at a Brazilian steak house in L.A. ( one of those places where they carve it out of a big hunk at your table) and Glen and his whole family came came in and took the table next to us..about 12 of them..Him,his wife his kids and his Grand Kids..He came over to our table and said hello and was very low key and friendly....It was his Birthday.. He didnt recognize me. Flashback 45 years earlier In the early 70's when I was a young Camera man working for an Ad agency I was hired to shoot a commercial in L.A. at a Golf course with Glen and Forrest Tucker..This is when Glen was drinking big time and on his ass that day..that was when he was married to Tanya Tucker..Glen took Great delight at continually loudly calling Forrest "Taurus Fucker"!! I thought Tucker was going to punch him out for sure..he did not see the Humor in it. It was a long day..ha ha1 point

I know I'm a grumpy old man these days but there isn't a bike in that video I'd have any interest at all in owning. If I was the owner I'd sell all of them and buy 2 decent bikes with the money. Funny these days how people lust over motorcycle that we were all puking over back then.1 point

Yes, Piaggo made this (paraphrased) declaration early on : Aprilia = racing Moto Guzzi = travel Vespa = lifestyle Piaggio = urban/commute I, for one, was relieved, and am good with that. Hopefully, some sort of "Sport" / "LeMans" will still be in the offing. I mean, how could the marketing department resist?1 point
-
I'm seriously expecting that something will turn up, but that it wont be a serious modern sports bike. That's Aprilia's department. I reckon sooner or later we will see something in the "retro sport" direction. Like that "Paul Smart" Ducati a while back, or the Triumph Thruxton.1 point

Installed the starter yesterday; what a misery! I had to keep a towel around my neck to wipe my face every five minutes to remove the perspiration. My glasses were continuously slipping from my nose. My garage was literally an oven. What a difference that starter made. I can easily gauge with the older one. The crank is a lot stronger. In the package sent by the supplier, there is a note stating there is no guaranty if I use a Lithium battery.1 point

Unless it's a dry clutch with twin friction plates and a steel intermediate. In a basket flywheel. With a couple hundred thousand kays on it, all ridden like a jackrabbit on hot lava. Then it sounds like nine monkeys fighting their way out of a cymbal factory with ball pein hammers.1 point

I agree it was the best rationale. I was interested to understand what was the root cause of the problem.1 point

I found the root cause of my problem; The shield between the planetary and the armature was making contact with the armature and arcing. At this point, I think I am going to play it safe, and purchase a new starter motor. I am not certain I understand how could the armature could come in contact with the shield. I will continue investigating as I did not manage to remove the brush assy. holder at the back of the motor housing. With the shield removed, you can clearly see it seats on the top of the magnets. I am guessing the armature moved forward. By the way, the magnets were glued and not clipped. Now I have a decision to make: should I replace it with a Valeo, or with a no brand equivalent.... The no brand is a drop in replacement, correct?1 point

This! As I spend an awful lot of time saying about the CARC bikes in general, love them for what they are. Not what they're not! You can make a superb 'Road' bike out of a Griso but even if you could get it to make 130hp, which you can't, it would still be utterly uncompetitive as a track tool. And before people start bleating at me that they've seen Dyno charts showing preposterous claimed power outputs I can assure you that having built a couple of 1400 Hi-Cams now and had Mark log build maps for them there are several things about these 'Super Hi-Cams' that just don't cut the mustard. You want to understand? Sit down with me one day and I'll go through it but I'm not going to waste my time 'splainin' it on the internets because people will still believe in the unicorns because that's what people want! Some of them anyway.....1 point

Yes the Guareschi brothers kit. It's very nice but have a think. You are taking an engine, transmission and final drive that is totally unsuited to a cutting edge pointy ended sports motorcycle and creating something thats trying to be just that. It's wheelbase is too long by a mile, its way to heavy, its an across the frame V twin, its not water cooled. I like the engine and drive system just fine but you're wasting your time using it in this context. Its natural element is in a GT style road bike. A Griso is about as close to a "sports bike" as this engine , gearbox and drive line should be to a cutting edge sports bike/track orientated tool. Ciao1 point
