  1. first, you cheeky monkey 4corso… posting such a goofy click-bait topic. :->. But I clicked! i agree KINDOY2, the V85 holds its own very nicely, except on the straights, where it’s just not as comfortable at the real high speeds. But thats why i sold the harley’s 20 yrs ago… why have a bike thats focused on what I like least, which is blasting straight on a highway? Well, in fairness, the GS and even more the big multistrada’s will pass someone in half a blink of an eye, which the 85 won’t quite do, but it’s plenty fast enough for riding within sane limits. Very little wrong, and pretty much everything right on the GS’s, but I still prefer the V85tt.

  2. I can't send any photo's of mine I'm afraid. My emails were hacked earlier in the year and although the geeks sorted the issue I have the side effect of not being able to transfer or send photos.... I need to get them back to address this but unfortunately have other things to do beforehand. Also have 3 x tonne of wood that's just been dumped in my carport which needs to be moved and stacked this arvo before I can do anything but will take a closer look at my set-up and report back later. Cheers Guzzler

  3. I recently had a test on a v85tt and the new stelvio back to back. I preferred the v85, hardly any slower actually. The old stelvio however…. is loads of smiles too.

  4. It's easy. It's like any other day stuck in draggy traffic on your motorcycle except that all the other traffic are also motorcycles.

  5. They are very common here in the building industry and available just about everywhere. The fact that they don't use them commonly or at all in engineering that I know of probably tells you something. Personally I have no issues with Torx screws. Better than Allen heads for stripping out. Problem is generally with shallow head fasteners but you get that with Allen head as well in button head and countersunk screws that have a reduced slot depth. On a Guzzi lots of fasteners were installed with Loctite because Guzzi don't care about future maintenance requirements so you need to use lots of heat on those fasteners and then throw them away. I've never used loctite on any brake part on anything in my life. The classic is Loctite on the 4mm throttle body screws! Madness. Phil

  8. Because I was getting brain ache trying to understand the posts here, I took the trouble to go down four flights of stairs at nearly one o'clock in the morning, pull the cover off the V11 and take a photo, go back up four flights of stairs, and take a photo of the original Bitubo damper from my V11 Le Mans. I reckon it is easier to see what Phil is getting at from the photos. You WILL ALL be VERY GRATEFUL for these pictures, I am sure... So here we go: This picture shows the mounting tab on the frame on the left, no ball joint, and the mount on the triple clamp on the right, obviously a ball joint. the next picture shows the original Bitubo damper from the Le Mans, currently lying aroung on my "desk" close to the computer. Obviously a ball joint on the end of the damper shaft, and no ball joint on the clamp around the body of the damper. The bolt in the ball joint on the end of the shaft goes through the tab on the frame in the first photo. The bolt in the clamp around the body of the damper goes through the ball joint in the mounting on the triple clamp in the first photo. That is how Guzzi built it, and that is, as far as I understand it, what Phil is getting at. When my Hyperpro gets here, that is how it will be mounted. I hope I don't have to get anything fabricated to do that, because the Hyperpro was expensive enough without any additional fiddle-faddle.

  9. Liked "Murdered by Love" from the first time I heard it years back on an FM blues show. Looked for the original by the Blue Monday band. Found this version with Roguie Ray and some smoking geetar. No CDs available, so I bought VINYL.

  10. I just spent 3 weeks in Italy/Switzerland/Austria/Germany riding the Alps/Stelvio/Dolomites, etc and all over Northern Italy...with one to 3 well experienced guys riding the new 1300 BMW's and me on a stock 2020 V-85 with 90,000 km on it .....There is nothing the BMW 1300 can do in the tight and steep mountain roads that the V-85 cant do except blast for a minute on the straights..and in fact the v-85 can do the tight steep Stelvio and Dolomite switchbacks better..you just have to use the gearbox more and push it harder..on the highway it'll run along for hours at 155KM just fine...Plus you have the Character of a Guzzi Air Cooled under you..:-) No rider modes, traction control..etc...just fun.
