Less "to" than "with". I went out for a ride, for the second time, with a bloke I know. 120-odd km out to the south-east of Leipzig. That is the direction in which one most quickly gets to relatively good riding territory. Somewhere around here, I think. I'm pretty sure we went through Förstgen, for instance. Not sure, because he had the Sat-Nav and I was just following him. https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=13/51.19640/12.76397 Anyway... The first time 'round, he was on his Le Mans III, so I could keep up "fairly" easily on the V11. This time, he was on a Ducati 998. About the same age as the V11 Le Mans, but a very different beast indeed. And he's had a lot of track time, and he's about 20 years younger than me, maybe more. I haven't ridden that hard in years, but I think Madame Le Mans enjoyed it.4 points

Hey there All, I am getting things together for the XX gathering. This morning I connected the 02 Lemans to my laptop and ran DIAG to make sure every thing was up to spects. Installed a freshened up set of iridium side gaped spark plugs. Changed the brake, clutch and trans fluids, also checked engine oil that was just changed not so long ago. I believe that I am good to go, keeping my fingers crossed. Am bringing the lap top, all cables, charger, manometer, fan, spare 02 Scura ECU, and misc.(possible Test & Tune event) I had two others ditch on me (won't say who), so coming solo this time but that's ok because I know I'll be in good company. See all of you then. SKIP3 points

Hi, you might want to use this XDF. I've restarted investigating the 15M/RC code some time ago and updated the XDFs as well. Not finished by far, but more comments and naming of previously unknown scalars/tables. Cheers Meinolf 15M_GuzziDiag_V3.0.xdf3 points

It's only applicable for the early bikes not the later ones that used the ignition switch to provide switching power to the start relay. The early bikes as shown the start relay always has direct switching power from fuse 4 but the later bikes it's switched through the ignition switch. Phil3 points

My ignition switch created a capacitor out of aged grease and debris, which *after some period of time* illuminated the dash and taillamp and drained the battery intermittently. Perhaps yours carries enough current to hold the headlight relay on. Consider cleaning it.2 points

Hi Meinolf!!! Hope you’re well! I have a Moto Guzzi V11 SPORT with an ECU 15M (no lambda), a Stucci X-pipe, Mistral MG1001 exhaust, and the top of the airbox removed. I’ve attached photos of the ECU, the original BIN file, and the information I found using GuzziDiag. I’ve handled all the maintenance myself since the bike was new, but I’m experiencing the well-known issue of coughing through the airbox around 3,000 RPM. Could you please recommend the actions I should take to resolve this? Also, do you have a BIN file that would suit my bike's setup? I send an email to guzzidiag@gmail.com asking for this too. Thank you! MG V11 original map.bin2 points

So, the battery passed stress test gloriously: its fine and should make the bike start. Have not had the opportunity to visit the bike. The fact that in my bike (2004) uses the ignition switch to provide switching power to the start relay makes me hope that fixing/cleaning the ignition swicht might also solve the not crancing. Will surely also test the starter with a direct wire to battery. Vins2 points

I now see that change in another schematic, fuse 5 power goes to pin 30 of the headlight relay, start relay pin 30 from switched ignition. That change is on the 2002 models? I was hoping to wait until winter maintenance to remove the tank for a wiring inspection (my sidestand switch has been removed, want a look at the jumper, also want to inspect regulator connections, bullet connectors) and a general see what's what. Don't want to miss prime riding weather due to cranking that sticky manual fuel shut off and creating a gas leak.2 points

Yes, you need the xdf file as well, the one at the top v2.32 I think2 points

Not sure about the exact change over date but post 2001 I think. My images don't have the exact date ranges. I came across a couple of new manual taps in the spares locker the other day and got them on the bench for when I return from holidays. Now that I have a mill I can do the valve bobbin slotting modification with greater accuracy and appearance. Won't work any better than the current mod but will look more professional if someone ever has it apart. Phil1 point

He has battled CFS for quite a few yeas apparently. I used to follow him on Twitter but as usual with ex stars of anything that turns into a self promotional/endorsement freebee seeking thing so I don't bother anymore. Super talented rider but the assentation to Motogp used up all the emotion energy I think. The longest racing careers are usually the riders that have had the most support getting to the top, like Rossi, Hailwood, and a lot of the Spanish riders. As Kenny Roberts pointed out years ago racing uses up something inside you eventually. I think it's emotional energy and the less of it you consume on the road to the top the better your chances of staying there for a lot longer. People like Rossi and Hailwood never used any emotional energy sleeping in the back of a car at the track, worrying about finances or working on their own bikes or even riding a sub par bike. That sort of thing didn't drag the emotional reserves out of them over the long term. Nor did they have the pressure of families that had basically given up their lives and gone on the road to support their kids racing. That stuff takes a toll on you and shortens your career I think. Same as American riders have as a general statement found the GP scene harder I think. Being away from your home, family and culture for extended periods uses up some of that emotional energy.1 point

I still have to collect the bimmer from Michigan, via Rte. 66. May as well pass by Virginia on the way out, since there's nothing between Michigan and St. Louis I want to see again.1 point

Don’t forget to make sure the trunnions are correctly aligned if you separate the shaft or if it hasn’t been removed before during your ownership.1 point

I am going to seize upon the "may not" part of the phrase and still hold out hope . . . Otherwise, sir, you will be sorely missed!1 point

I may not make it this year- the past couple months have been... painful... Outside of the 'Alaska trip' in which we didn't make Alaska, but was awesome, I've been buried by BS. Representative of my status, I took my Mom's unused 2004 Yukon as a tow vehicle to collect my '04 busted crank pickup from San Antonio. 1300 miles from Michigan to Florida, rock solid. 300 miles from home towards TX, the fuel pump takes a crap. No biggie, but the shop ran me around the flagpole for 5 days before simply declining the job. So me and $750 went over to Harbor Freight and did it myself in the Tallahassee Best Western parking lot. Well, at least it made me feel like I was 19 again. Somehow that isn't particularly satisfying.1 point

Chuck, no complaints here. Bev has been slowly getting better with her knee replacement but it hasn't been easy. So far as recalls, Don's shop is a dealer, and he's supposed to check. So far as the bike? I was talking to top mechanic Doug (I screwed my Ducati, another story). He told me I was lucky to have killed the bike and brought it because it would've killed me. He said the gearbox could easily have come apart and locked up at speed. Gulp. Besides the bearings, the deal with the pins is another kettle of fish. Apparently Guzzi had changed out the access door on my bike and the newer door has pins machined in. Besides the broken one, the one on the bottom is leaking. They're going to make threaded pins, use some adhesive to keep them in place and silicone the other one. In regard to my Duc. I was riding it and the ABS light comes on. I see that the bolt holding the sensor had fallen out. I'm on the floor in the dark garage and find a longer bolt in my stash. I didn't realize the receiver was open ended, I bent the ABS ring tightening the bolt. Somehow, I also hurt my knee and lower leg getting up and down on the garage floor, been taking muscle relaxers about 50% better. Then the Doc office called just now from my appointment last week and wants to pile on more old guy's meds. I'm tired of that quack. New pills on top of old pills that didn't work? Heck of a last few days. OK, if you have an early red frame, watch your gearbox. Don't work in a dark garage. Don't be a dumbass like me. BLLLLEEEEEHHH1 point

Thank you both for the correct contribution. Measuring the actual bolt cross references to @audiomick's link as 8mm x 1,25 thread pitch. The Workshop Manual lists this torque as 25-30 Nm. Original post corrected. My apologies and thank you, all, again for checking the posts here for correctness and accuracy!1 point

Ah, yes the cardan shaft yokes should be clamped tightly (at both ends). The 6mm bolts are torqued 8-12 Nm. Correction: 8mm x 1,25 pitch/ torque spec is 25-30Nm. Because of the pinching action, go back and forth between the two until they are torqued the same since tightening one will loosen the other until they are finally the same.1 point

Is your pic from the Cars and Coffee meet yesterday? I drove thru later in the morning, apparently too late. I think I'm going for coffee and homemade pie in Glenwood WA tomorrow (via Klickitat) if anyone else is in the mood. Hopefully an early start before morning traffic will mean an early return before afternoon rush.1 point
