  2. You can often drive the old bearing out with a largish flat bladed screwdriver of a 1/2 inch steel punch with a sharp edge by inserting the punch/scredriver into the axle hole from the opposite side and levering the spacer to one side to get the punch onto the inner race edge. Once one side is out the other is easy. I then grind a notch in one end of the spacer so next time the screwdriver gets onto the inner race easily. Heat the wheel hub with a heat gun and have the bearings in the freezer and they often just drop in and you can use the old bearing as a driving tool on the outer race if you need to.

  3. You blokes have good weekend. If all goes according to plan, I'll be spending a Guzzi weekend here. Tents instead of cabins, not enough "facilities", but good people and a group ride on Saturday through beautiful countryside. https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/854709452#map=19/50.706699/11.326726

  6. Something occurred to me after FP2. Marc Marquez is in the exact same situation as he was in 2015, when he was in between Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi chasing the title. But today's situation is slightly different in that Francesco Bagnaia will be Marc Marquez coequipier next year, and of course, Ducati will be Marc's employer too. Also, Marc Marquez is not so far away in terms of points since there are two races per race weekend. Is he going to be "il terzo incomodo"? (odd man out).

  7. Adding to the fun and mirth this thread allows...each of the riders, often have a nickname. Valentino Rossi - aka The Doctor (Il Dottore) Fabio Quartararo - El Diablo (The Devil) or El Pascal Maverick Vinales - Top Gun for obvious reasons Miguel Oliveira - Einstein (since he likes to stick his tongue out like the original AE) Marc Marquez - Baby Alien, or as I like to call him the King of COTA (Austin race track), I"m sure others call him Beelzebub or other more derogatory terms too. Francesco in Italian, Pecco for short is just like Francisco in Spanish, with Paco for short...quite similar Amongst friends, we call each other by last names as a term of endearment, I see some folks like to call each other by their initials...although that's a bit more of a southern style.

  8. This was suggested before, but it really does act like one of the ring terminals, either on the positive or negative side, got dropped off the battery; as if the charging system has been 'unplugged."

  9. Anyone crossing The Appalachian Divide should know that "feels like 90º" on The Plains (of Tellico) can "feel like" the upper 40ºs on The Cherohala after a little dampness/shower/fog/cloud ceiling with wind chill at speed. FWIW, I am using the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) and other storm focused weather apps. Places like The Weather Channel™ are, IMO, entertainment focused and will show you a snowflake every chance they get. Snowflakes sell. Meteorology a dull box of cloudy uncertainty. Yet . . . The Cherohala cloud ceiling is real . . .

  10. I just cover my naked self in baby oil and glitter, tie a brilo pad to my knob and writhe all over the motorbike. It may not clean it up a lot but it guarantees that the space surrounding it is empty and devoid of admirers so as long as the bike works who cares?

  11. This alternator in the video (i s a conventional alternator) is a 3phase output and the v11 is a pancake or single phase system. you have two wires coming from the stator. Do yourself a favor and repair this 30a fuse connection . Remove enough factory wiring to get to a good unburnt section of wiring harness and install a quality CB and quality wiring and connectors. This advice now goes to EVERYONE on this forum . Stop buying this Amazon / eBay Chinese junk . I don't care if you can buy this stuff for any amount of money. If you flew aircraft would you purchase a reman component for $35 v $600 because you saved money ? I am not 30 yrs old any more and I am not pushing a bike to the next exit.

  12. A few items done today…and then a wonderful 100 mile ride. New oil sensor, new plugs (left one nice tan brown, right one a little dark but not sooty), new vent tubes off the tank just for fun, was going to replace the rubber tank stops but the ones there are in great shape. Been thinking about the slight 3k cough or hiccup …wonder if it could be mapped away with a better mixture on the map at that RPM…still running the older version of the Meinolf map…may try the new one. Besides that the bike runs great at all other RPM’s. A quick check with the Carbtune…TB nicely balanced at idle and 4k…time for a ride. Out riding…a song comes on…Riders on the Storm…found a Scura at the end of the rainbow! Time to buy a lottery ticket tonight!!
