  1. Wandering the streets of Roma and Milano you rarely see any Guzzis. Considering they build the things only 65klm's from Milano you'd think they would be commonly seen on the streets of Milano but nope. Here's a few I've spotted. The most common non scooter around the cities? The big BMW GS's in all their forms over the last 15 years or so. Hundreds of them. I've even spotted 2 old BMW K100RS's a blue and a red one both in beautiful condition the same as the new ones I toured Europe back in 84 and 86. Blue in 84 and red in 86. Guzzi's though are rare birds. Off to Mandello tomorrow. Sure to see some Guzzis there, maybe.

  2. This fine fellow brought an iceboat-load of enthusiasm to share. Watching for him to check in after his long drive home . . .

  3. Arrived in Mandello today and went straight to the Guzzi museum for a look. Lots of people in town for the Guzzi weekend so lots of enthusiast stuff happening. Here's a Greenie from the museum and an image through the gates of the new factory under construction. Phil

  10. You would most likely have to replace all the rubber bits, hoses, seals, etc. . . and don't forget new tires. But first I would make sure the engine turns over unimpeded by removing the spark plugs and rotating the crankshaft manually. And as an Italian princess being awakened from a 30 year slumber, I'd prolly go over the entire loom and check for the integrity of all the wires insulation and electrical connections.

  11. That would be very, very difficult, I'd venture to say quite an impossible task I recon

  13. This is the second SSR that @Tellico Andrew has offered to share his local knowledge and take us new places, or along new routes. Another cool cat we are lucky to call "SpineRaider " . . .

  23. You know that you can use a ruler to measure the distance between the top of two threads? 1 mm should be quite easy. The screw threads into a softer material, so it makes perfect sense to have a fine pitch.

  24. Having been an MSF Rider Coach Trainer (Retired) for 20 years, I can recall a few rides with other MSF folks where we moved about 200 yards from our hotel to a restaurant with ATGATT. Took longer to suit/unsuit than it did to eat. Tedious, that .

  25. It was a beautiful ride. Hope more folks join in on it next year. I know it skips the Skyway and Tapoco but it was great.

  26. FWIW, Andrew and Randy took a ride South that I wasn't up to, and lament; it's my regular path in and out of the 'raid. Next year I may suggest, if the weather is as nice, lunch in Helen, GA.

  30. Well , some forums do exist . I will be here as long as possible . The only problem people have in forums I see is , what I post ; what you read ; what you respond with and what I read and interpret gets misinterpreted . I wish there was a way to fix this. I stay away from FB and all the other social media "look at me" forums that want to show the size of their kidney stone or where they are staying in the Bahamas . Me , I want to have my friends and make sure their bikes are running properly .

  33. Anyone crossing The Appalachian Divide should know that "feels like 90º" on The Plains (of Tellico) can "feel like" the upper 40ºs on The Cherohala after a little dampness/shower/fog/cloud ceiling with wind chill at speed. FWIW, I am using the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) and other storm focused weather apps. Places like The Weather Channel™ are, IMO, entertainment focused and will show you a snowflake every chance they get. Snowflakes sell. Meteorology a dull box of cloudy uncertainty. Yet . . . The Cherohala cloud ceiling is real . . .

  34. Truth be known, I am holding a room for our Chief Whip in the event he can be our honored guest at this SSR XX. At some point in the SSR past, another member promised "a handful of Cubanos ." I suppose they could stay in the room and when the innkeeper inquires about the potential improprieties, we can say, "The Dutchman flew! and the Cubanos are nowhere to be found !" Okay, okay - the actual Cubanos:
