Hey there Doc and all the other SSR-20 participant's , I finally got a chance to sit down at my computer and check in. I had an absolutely wonderful time hanging around with all of you, eating, drinking, a tech session, and even some time riding the Skyway and the Tale. Also had a chance to spend Friday with my son Joshua who came up from Atlanta just for the day. We took to the plains right behind Hardies and flew RC gliders and FPV drones. The reason it took so long to check in is that I decided to take a side trip to Rachelle, Illinois to watch the Union Pacific 4014 BIG BOY steam locomotive arrive and depart the old town railroad station. (and yes it is HUGE) Whistle blowing, steam hissing, black coal smoke belching, and all other kinds of mechanical noises, it was truly a site to witness. Hope everybody had a great time at the SSR-20, I'm sure you all did. I'll keep my fingers crossed in hope for next years RADE-21. Cheers to ALL SKIP7 points

Forgot to mention that yesterday I got to sit on a Guzzi V8 that was in the small Piazza where the statue of Carlo Guzzi resides. This Piazza was where they had a display of about 20 old Guzzi race bikes and some were started up for the benefit of the crowd including the V8 and the 500 Bicylindrica. I cheekily asked the custodian of the V8 if I could get an image of me sitting on the bike and he looked a little shocked that someone would ask such a thing but then happily agreed. So on it I sat and my wife got a few images. This is the bike.3 points

After a couple of years , you will have a blown-up (laminated) (3 of them) wiring diagram close to you at all time and you will be able to put on a clinic about EVERY portion of this wiring system that could go on for 60 mins straight and you will speak w/confidence . W/that being said , jump in , the water's fine . Don't pay any attention to the jellyfish , sharks , squid or any other sea monsters !3 points

It seems that, at the time when the person of the factory who had to make the numbers, he had a bit too much to drink during a party; The number of the bike I hope to buy this weekend is number S224. According to the list above, it seems to be driving around in England. According to the seller (and also according to the official registration office) this bike was imported from Italy to the Netherlands in 2011 where it has been ever since. Could it be that a mistake has been made in the list?2 points

H... sorry to mislead you , I said fuses and meant to say relays . The black box flasher is more durable than the can unit .2 points

Ok, these images will be appreciated. Down 5 flights of stairs, unpack the bike in the cold and drizzle, take the photos with the aid of a torch, back up the stairs. I'm expecting an elefant stamp here.... My 2002 V11 Le Mans. Here is a "close up". The blinker can is in the scruffy looking rubber boot behind the relays, tucked in under the bodywork. I don't know for sure that this is the original position, as it is just cable-tied onto the frame rail there. On the other hand, the cable harness would not allow it to have been very far from that position. It is just long enough to get there. And here is another picture from a bit further back to put it into perspective Hope that helps.2 points

Big day today wandering around Mandello. Still packed with Guzzi enthusiasts. I got the hear an old bicylindrica running (the 120 degree V twin 500cc GP bike from the thirties to the 50's if memory serves) and also got to sit on a Guzzi V8. I didn't get to see it running due to timing issues (me being around) but I heard it run twice during the day from 1/2 a klm away when it was started up. I also had the great privilege of visiting the preserved workshop of Giorgio Ripamonti who was a teacher of the young Carlo Guzzi and in this workshop with his help the very first Moto Guzzi called the "GP" was built and assembled. I spent 1/2 hour talking to his grandson who spoke very good English. On this very anvil and in this tiny workshop at this hearth Carlo Guzzi and Giorgio Ripamonti created the very first Guzzi.2 points

Hi all, Let me introduce myself first since I am completely new to this forum. My name is Danny, 52 years old living in The Netherlands and in the buying process of a beautiful Moto Guzzi v11 Scura (black). Very likely I will close the deal this week making me one of the 600 (proud) owners of the V11 Scura with number #S224. My new Scura (to be) was imported from Italy in 2011 and had officially 3 owners including the motorshop (TLM Nijmegen) where the Scura was traded in for another new motorcycle. Because I am alway curious about the history of a bike, and the fact that the Scura edition was limited to 600 pieces, I would like to find out where all the serial numbers went to, how the distribution was done with regard to the various countries, how many of them in each country, who the owners are, which color the bike was painted in (fully black of black/bullet grey), which modifications they made etc. Therefore I want to ask you (and especially the Scura owners) if you can help me finding this out, tips for where to look, addressing me to other Scura owners you might know, a contact in the factory in Italy, maybe you know somebody who already made such a list, etc. If interested I can share the Excel list here so everyone can get a good glimpse of the list. I checked some YT movies already and got some info but most of the time the serial number is not very visible. There was even one that had the nummer S664 which is pretty amazing, because as far as I know, there were only 600 pieces made of the Scura version. Hope to hear from you. Best Regards, Danny Hentenaar1 point

They wont, as long as the company survives. They need it to support the "Guzzi tradition" that they are basing their marketing on .1 point

Simple to correct when you take possession is S224 in The Netherlands. I am sure there are better formats to keep the lists....1 point

Since I installed risers I need to extend or replace the front brakelines. One of the ideas was to attach two parallel lines on one double length bolt to the cylinder instead of the H- or T- setup.1 point

Welcome, @Danny-NL! There is an existing list in "V11 Registries". Last updated in May, 2023, #224 is shown in England . . .1 point

No "summary of changes" in the newer versions, the main difference between earlier and latest versions being the coverage of more recent models. Up to the V85TT in the latest publication(V.9)1 point

I think it might be tucked in under the bodywork next to the relays. Vague memories popping up...1 point

@Lucky Phil I'm very happy to have met you and your lovely lady, too bad about the language barrier (unfortunately it's my limit)… I would have liked to talk to you longer and better. I hope you will keep good memories of Mandello and Italy1 point

More from the museum. Met up with V11_meticcio today. He rode his Guzzi up to our hotel in the mountains and we had a nice chat. Very nice guy and very happy to meet him. Grazie Mille, Massimiliano. Phil1 point

A few items done today…and then a wonderful 100 mile ride. New oil sensor, new plugs (left one nice tan brown, right one a little dark but not sooty), new vent tubes off the tank just for fun, was going to replace the rubber tank stops but the ones there are in great shape. Been thinking about the slight 3k cough or hiccup …wonder if it could be mapped away with a better mixture on the map at that RPM…still running the older version of the Meinolf map…may try the new one. Besides that the bike runs great at all other RPM’s. A quick check with the Carbtune…TB nicely balanced at idle and 4k…time for a ride. Out riding…a song comes on…Riders on the Storm…found a Scura at the end of the rainbow! Time to buy a lottery ticket tonight!!1 point
