  3. Yup, but without the Spineframe, six speed box and cantilever!

  4. Before you begin to worry unduly unless your bike is a stripped down 8V Norge or a special import as a US model it won’t be an 8V as the 8V Sports we’re never imported to North America. If your bike has angular rocker covers with a black plastic strip down the middle that covers the high tension lead to the outer plug then it is a 2 valve per cylinder model which were imported for one year only, 2008, and do not suffer from the cam and tappet issues that plagued the 2007-2012 8V models.

  5. Snow markers up many places already. They might as well have been there all the time. Summer, oh well, to close to the polar circle. Not a lot of km this year. But have IPA [emoji482]. Cheers Tom. Sent fra min SM-S906B via Tapatalk

  6. Ok, so as per my recent "introduce yourself" post, I have bought a Coppa Italia imported from Japan by a dealer, described as a "barn find". In this case I actually think it might have been in a barn! The date code on the tyres is 2007 and there's numerous signs around the bike of having been stored either in slightly damp conditions and/or UV damage though fundamentally in good condition? I suspect it might be a deceased estate purchase as there's a few expensive extras that came with it, but also signs of poor storage, we'll never know? I'm no stranger to restorations (which is not how I see this project) having resurrected a T3 Cali, numerous 60s/70s Bonnevilles and Commandos etc, but never really had that much involvement with a spine frame over and above tank-off checklist type stuff. I see this one as requiring a bit more than that somehow! First hurdle was getting the badly uv hardened paint film off without destroying the paint and decals underneath. So far it's working, albeit very slow process (combination of gentle heat gun and specialised solvent) but the tailpiece decals aren't clearcoated so will have to repair small areas or source new ones/get copies made, we'll see. I wanted to clean it up a bit before any stripdown or startup, as much to give me some motivation as anything else. It's really filthy, even under the tank etc. Oddly though oils look clean as does brake fluid, and there's a small amount of what looks like reasonably fresh fuel in the tank, which I'll change out before powering up the pump etc. I've sourced new oil, oil filter, fuel filter and just had 10 Picker relays arrive from Digikey in the states (2 days shipment time!) as it currently has the dreaded Tycos. Will post a few updates as and when, (and steer specific questions into the technical forum) though this project is competing with my brother's BSA 250 charging issue and a few other bits and pieces, plus the demands of a 10 year old daughter, so it's not going to be a 2 weeks and ride off into the sunset thing.

  8. I figured that it was not as armless as it seemed, given they insist that you should rinse the product almost immediately after you sprayed it, and it is compulsory to have your bike cold before you apply.

  9. Another mapping goes a long way. Had a visit a few weeks ago from a guy on a Quota (RED) with mapping from was it Beetle. He wasn't completely happy. A good friend with a Quota installed his mapping, success. Took him 9000km with tuning/mapping. That said he is a real computer -.,,.-. It's worth checking an ugly Duc too, dual purpose bike of dimensions. Just installed Dunlop Sport Smart TT on my Multistrada, NICE, very NICE. No offroading for me. Cheers Tom.

  11. Apologies, I was unaware of the "back story" with the Gutsibits supplied Roper plates. I'd also surmised (incorrectly?) that I'd missed the boat by a few months getting one from the guys supplying the plates from this forum, otherwise would have gone down that route in any case. Anyhow, I've just made a donation to Medicine sans Frontiers myself to honour Pete's input to these.

  14. No, still the same no. I understand there were originally 2, supplied by Forza Italia & Twiggers. I have purchased one of these. Another has recently been imported from Japan, so there’s 3 Coppas in the UK

  15. Very much so...temps most of the day were 98F to 102F....when it gets down to low 90's or high 80's, it feels positively cool! You're right about the wing...very smooth, one of the things that "hooked" me was the new sharper design compared to the older versions, and it's lighter as well compared to the prior models. It's truly a dream to drive...having spent the last 15 years on Guzzi's, all of which I still ride a lot I'm tickled to have a Wing that is this smooth...

  16. "when" I use it, I spray it on and immediately follow with a hose to rinse it off. Don't let it sit for *any* length of time.. just sayin.

  17. Seafoam Bugs B Gone… A good quality Ceramic all in one spray clean and wax combo after the washing makes a nice shine and much easier to clean the next time also…

  19. S-100 is German strength. It will matte some of the finishes on the bike, like the rear footpeg hangers. "A friend told me." I now use the Chuck-Docc approved SuperClean on nearly everything. A small electric (low) pressure washer does good in rinsing it off.

  20. Stoner's Trim Shine. $6 at Lowes Learned from a codger that rode up on Beemer 750 triple. Looked like brand new. Tried it. He was right. Works great to restore UV.

  21. Yes, it does work..comma but..(Hagen content) don't leave it on for any length of time, it is caustic. Spray it on, rinse it off immediately, and it will be fine for a quick clean up including oily road grunge.

  22. Great topic! We all have our pet products by now. I just finished wiping down mySport in anticipation of the SSR XX in a few days. Cleaning a machine is a perfect way to get eyes and fingers on and around every surface for a chance of discovery (loose fastener, loose connector, bad wire routing, etc). For cleaner/polish, with a carnauba finish, I have long used RGS Labs FW1 FastWax. I was skeptical at first, but it has won me over for many years, now. Their glass cleaner checks out, as well. For hard plastics (not painted) and clear plastic lenses, Sumner Laboratories 210 plastic cleaner is amazing. Rubber? Why, Shin Etsu grease, of course! I used to replace my natural chamois every year, but switched to "artificial (PVA) chamois" many years ago. They harden stiff when dry, but are soft and supple when wet and resist thinning or tearing over many years of use. I'll have to look for that Motul Insect Remover . . .

  23. There's a bloke in the german forum that has the following in his signature: "If the Lord God had wanted motorcycles to be clean, there would be dishwashing liquid in the rain". Just sayin'...
