  2. Took a trip to the iconic Imola race track yesterday. Not able to get on the track unfortunately but we took a stroll around about half the circuit. Visited the Ayrton Senna memorial at the Tamberello corner where he died 30 years ago. More significantly to me it's where Paul Smart on a Ducati L twin beat Ago on an MV Agusta at the Imola 200 in 1972 and put himself and Ducati on the motorcycle racing world map. My best friend was actually at that meeting to see history made. Apparently it was a typical Italian race of the time...Ago took off and they then dropped the flag to get it underway:) After that we called in at the local supermercato for some groceries. You can't carry much in the way of shopping in one of these.

  3. Travelled from Rome to Milano on this beast a few weeks ago now. The Frecciarossa (red arrow) went business class and it ate up the journey at 280klm/hour. Five hundred klms in 3 hours. The Italians like fast stuff. In contrast the same journey here in Australia takes, well forever. Over 9 hours because we are too hopeless to built a train network with speeds over about 100kph. Aussies, we are good at 2 things, sport and leisure. High Tech? not so much. Phil

  5. Yes, that was the greenie there. He was asking that 13k for each of them, not both. I talked to him quite a bit while he was there. He offered to deliver them to my house if I bought them. 13k was a few hundred more than what he paid for them both less than a year ago. I though he was a bit high on his asking price, so I declined. And let me just say, if I misunderstood his pricing, that's my bad. But I think I heard him right.

  6. Bill Hagan was known as "Ballabio Bill" in early Spine Raids per Docc's event notes.

  7. That looks like one of the two V11s that the seller had for sale on eBay earlier this summer. The other was an equally nice Rosso Mandello I think. He was asking $13,000 for the pair and had trailered them to the MGNOC rally in John Day, Oregon. They apparently didn't sell there and afterward he listed them for $9000 for the pair, then the listing was taken down soon after.

  8. Thea Scura looks to be a good value, but may come with some of typical Scura issues if not already addressed by current owner. As for the wheels on the greenie... never hear of that before. But it sounds like a 2002 or later stock rear wheel.

  9. I probobly still have a set, I don't remember selling the ones I had, If you really need them I will go thru my V-11 stuff I have packed away later today or tomorrow and see if I can find them. I don't mind shipping if you pay the cost. ( You know that isn't usually cheap USA to NZ). Cheers.

  11. Don't know if the Scura ones are the same as from a V11 Sport? If so, you could inform here: https://rebootspares.com/spares.php They are parting out a V11 Sport

  13. Visited Mugello race track yesterday and just my luck there was a ride day on. These guys are pretty serious about their ride days as the paddock images show and the action on the track was take no prisoners as well. Go hard or go home pretty much. No fast, medium and slow group stuff here. Paid 10euros for the wife and I to get into the pits and got trackside on the pit wall and took some videos which are too big to upload apparently. Mugello is the track where the MotoGP boys hit 366kph on the straight. At the end of the straight there is a rise and a kink not a million miles away from the kink and rise at Laguna Seca on the straight except here the GP boys are cranking out 366kph and also setting the bike up for the braking zone and turn in point for turn 1 without being able to see either because of the rise. It's not that apparent on the TV but trackside it's quite distinct as is the undulating nature of the rest of the track. Back maybe 10 years ago Rossi's Yamaha blew up here as it wheel spun over the rise every lap over revving the engine until it called enough. Yamaha had to reduce the max rpm to compensate at this track for a year or two till they got the engine management stuff sorted. No Guzzi presence at all, not hard enough. Phil

  14. One for docc and scudd. The wife and I are so taken with Mandello we are looking at properties here. Six months a year here would be quite agreeable.

  15. Big day today wandering around Mandello. Still packed with Guzzi enthusiasts. I got the hear an old bicylindrica running (the 120 degree V twin 500cc GP bike from the thirties to the 50's if memory serves) and also got to sit on a Guzzi V8. I didn't get to see it running due to timing issues (me being around) but I heard it run twice during the day from 1/2 a klm away when it was started up. I also had the great privilege of visiting the preserved workshop of Giorgio Ripamonti who was a teacher of the young Carlo Guzzi and in this workshop with his help the very first Moto Guzzi called the "GP" was built and assembled. I spent 1/2 hour talking to his grandson who spoke very good English. On this very anvil and in this tiny workshop at this hearth Carlo Guzzi and Giorgio Ripamonti created the very first Guzzi.

  16. I just cover my naked self in baby oil and glitter, tie a brilo pad to my knob and writhe all over the motorbike. It may not clean it up a lot but it guarantees that the space surrounding it is empty and devoid of admirers so as long as the bike works who cares?

  18. Activpop stated he wanted $13k each, and I agreed that must be correct. The seller then lowered the price to $9000 each. ??
