She is fixed thanks for your input guys . Some how I guess because the trans was stuck in gear when disassembled, even though I marked the gears before I removed them the bottom gear was one tooth off so the trans shifted but the indentation for the switch was half where it should wave been hence wiggle and light would go on and off. So thanks again 😎3 points

I'm a V11 newbie but have owned other Guzzis for a while. I recently acquired a non-running Scura project which had apparently developed a nasty rattle. The PO had taken it to a local bike shop (non-Guzzi) who removed the right cylinder and told him the 'bottom end was gone'. I figured it was more likely to be the clutch / flywheel problem that affects the Scuras but my initial investigation has found the likely cause of the rattle and it's certainly not the flywheel, although I will be checking that out for sure. The shop had removed one of the cam followers when they took the cylinder off, but not the other which was not loose in the case. It took a couple of minutes to work the second follower out to find the engine has been doing it's own mods - looks like it was working towards a new design where the pushrod runs directly on the cam, but it didn't quite get that far. Having read previous posts on this forum it seems I will need to replace the cam as well as the followers, but I have no idea what options there are for V11 cams. Does the Scura run a different cam from other models? I've not been able to find a resource that lists what models run what cams but have seen some different model number listings on ebay for second hand cams and don't have any idea what I'm looking for. I'm not wanting to create a hot-rod motor here, will be happy with whatever the Scura came with but not too sure about buying second hand. Does anyone have experience with the Raceco SS2 camshaft - is that an option worth looking at? Thanks, Nev2 points

I can't guide you on cams- lots of choices. My understanding is that the stock cam was designed for max power without compromising drivability by Crane Cams, and if that's true its probably going to be very hard to improve. My recommendation is that whatever you choose, send it ti Microblue for coating. I had them coat all the moving parts in my '85 LeMans and I was amazed at how slick it is. After 10k miles, the cam lobes show no signs of wearing through the coating, and they have radiused Ford Y-block lifters under 165# LS Chevrolet springs. http://microblueracing.com/index.html2 points

Ok, so as per my recent "introduce yourself" post, I have bought a Coppa Italia imported from Japan by a dealer, described as a "barn find". In this case I actually think it might have been in a barn! The date code on the tyres is 2007 and there's numerous signs around the bike of having been stored either in slightly damp conditions and/or UV damage though fundamentally in good condition? I suspect it might be a deceased estate purchase as there's a few expensive extras that came with it, but also signs of poor storage, we'll never know? I'm no stranger to restorations (which is not how I see this project) having resurrected a T3 Cali, numerous 60s/70s Bonnevilles and Commandos etc, but never really had that much involvement with a spine frame over and above tank-off checklist type stuff. I see this one as requiring a bit more than that somehow! First hurdle was getting the badly uv hardened paint film off without destroying the paint and decals underneath. So far it's working, albeit very slow process (combination of gentle heat gun and specialised solvent) but the tailpiece decals aren't clearcoated so will have to repair small areas or source new ones/get copies made, we'll see. I wanted to clean it up a bit before any stripdown or startup, as much to give me some motivation as anything else. It's really filthy, even under the tank etc. Oddly though oils look clean as does brake fluid, and there's a small amount of what looks like reasonably fresh fuel in the tank, which I'll change out before powering up the pump etc. I've sourced new oil, oil filter, fuel filter and just had 10 Picker relays arrive from Digikey in the states (2 days shipment time!) as it currently has the dreaded Tycos. Will post a few updates as and when, (and steer specific questions into the technical forum) though this project is competing with my brother's BSA 250 charging issue and a few other bits and pieces, plus the demands of a 10 year old daughter, so it's not going to be a 2 weeks and ride off into the sunset thing.1 point

That is well put. The chassis, exhaust, engine management, and suspension are all 2002 LeMans. I really do love the Tenni color scheme. Yet, it is pretty well known here that I love ALL of the V11 SpineFrames.1 point

Yep thanks Roy looked at those several times in the past but as my speedo still works and just a bit wobbly in these days of electronic warfare with the cops.Mounted the sigma which is water proof and has some good functions and has worked a treat. Not that us Guzzi riders are tight wads but for $90 NZ dollars delivered im very happy with it and would recomend it for anyone wanting a cheap accurate speedo,Cheers1 point

And it’s so easy to make yourself, sharp knife, and you can choose the thickness of rubber or, to make a good fit. Cheers Tom.1 point

A Moto Guzzi will make me a better mechanic , DC electrician , wiring diagram reader , understand mechanical theory and troubleshooter: It had better. , or you have wasted your time. d. YOU will become a part of a group of people you can contact 7-24 with a problem and get an ANSWER . e. Can I ever get my money back on these money pits ? NO1 point

The "dual sport" ride started between 09:00 and 09:30, and we came back shortly before 11:30. I think we did 55 miles of trails around Montgomery! my understanding was we were going to join the cruisers for the parade, but in fact, we did not. I told the leader of our group, that if I had known that we were going to do terrain, I would not have come. I was preoccupied to be on a 25 years old motorcycle, which I had never ridden in these conditions. But when the group got split at some point, the BMW 1250 GS falled back in the sand. The guy was just being me, staggered, but riding in the sand is nerve breaking since the bike is completely unsteady. So he got distanced. I really enjoyed the Quota. The fueling is the main drawback. I wish there was something that could be done. The bike would really be nice if it wasn't so jerky. The "Ride for Kids" was meant to start at 10:30; They came back between 11:30 and 12:00. Next year, they will do it in April, as many riders suffered from the heat. I met the MGTT director David Canada. Interesting fellow. He is from the East Coast. When he moved to Texas, he implemented the tour. Did you spot the other Guzzi? there was a 1400 California in the parade. The Quota drew a lot of attention from the other "dual sport" guys.1 point

I didn't use a Sigma, I used a Speedhut the sensor was mounted in place of age speedo cable at the gearbox It worked very well I highly recommend the Speedhut line. https://www.speedhut.com1 point

It has been tuned by MPH Cycles, using a Beetle map. Davey explained to me why the fueling is not efficient. First, there is the one throttle body for both cylinders. But he also mentionned the placement of the injectors as contributing to the "lag". Plus all the mechanics to open the throttle. The Guzzi Q. will never be a smooth operator...0 points
