All of you are familiar with "Vespa", right? But in the South of Italy, there was another very common mode of transportation and commercial use. The "Ape". When I was based in Sicily, those would be everywhere, including at local markets, selling local produce. While browsing market place for Moto Guzzi, I got a hit for a very nice Ape. By the way, if you know what Vespa means in Italian, then you will easily get Ape. This one is in Dallas. This is a winner!!!3 points

But there is a lot to improve that. Valpolini is your friend.3 points

I don't know which part of Japan you are living, you should maybe put the name of the city in your profile card, but I don't know if you ever saw 46works YouTube videos, this guy is some kind of wizard for preparing Guzzis and BMWs. I don't think he would be interested in working on your bike, he is more like a custom prep, but giving him a call may be worth your while. https://46works.net/3 points

By the way, I received a message of Bruno Saturno as well. They do not have the Monza body parts anymore, but they have a new set now. https://www.ghezzi-brian.com/en/modelli/v-twin-supersport-2/ Although it looks very exclusive, the price might need back-up from Mrs. No overhere, so I give it another thought.2 points

It's been some years (and years!), but it seems like it was off 7-8 mph at in the upper range. So much that, at my 62 (indicated) in road posted at 55mph speed limit, I was traveling more like 55. While this is the posted speed limit, drivers are absolutely intolerant of this and treat it as an affront. Especially from some dork in the middle of the lane on a silly, minty green, scooter . . .2 points

Initial press releases and promotional materials claimed the introductory V11 Sport would have WP rear shock. Even the Owner's Manual states "W.P. or SACHS", yet I have never heard of or seen a WP shock on a V11. Perhaps, a few of the very earliest released in Italy or Germany? Our members there would have to confirm . . . As for the forks, it seems there are only references to Marzocchi. Again, I've never heard of WP forks on a V11 Spine frame. Anyone?2 points

Living in a rural area, I find the minimum necessary speed to get the ten miles to the closest town is 62 mph/ 100 kph with 70 mph capability. I confirmed this, in no uncertain terms, riding my wife's 250cc Vespa that Piaggio claimed a top speed of 70mph. Running flat-out on the highway, traffic would stack up behind me, follow too close, and make maniacal passes. Checking the speed with my GPS, I found top speed closer to 60mph. What Piaggio meant, of course, was that the speedometer was set to indicate 70 mph as the top speed. . .2 points

"Behave or you go in the Ape!!!" Add doors and you almost have a Fiat 500.2 points

Mine broke on the road. I had the replacement in my tool sac. I laid the bike down on my jacket and opened the gearbox lid. Didn't even need to drain the oil.2 points

And just for the hell of it, because the topic is apparently currently relevant in Texas: That should be the whole album. If not, maybe this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwCQJcTYWzA&list=PL02pDPRbhcyYrRtZq7YM7jVvpwOVrB8ZG EDIT: PS, I was planning to go to bed shortly. I think that is not going to happen now. Have to listen to what I posted...1 point

Ah, yes, greasing the front Uni-joint can lead one to desperate measures . . .1 point

Lots of us just remove the spacers and mount the signals directly.1 point
-
Yeah thats temporary just to get it into the airflow. Winter project to screw around with it to adjust its position so it is at least somewhat straight. Will also try to shorten the turn signal stalks a little, with some type of custom spacer thats a little shorter than the stock spacers currently in place.1 point

Thanks Docc. I had the same with a BMW drive shaft last year. Was a pig to get it to release but got there in the end. This started-out with me just wanting to grease the front UJ. Next thing I've half the bike on my bench and am busy getting parts vapor blasted and changing bearings. I don't mind. It all needed doing and we're heading into winter so it's a good time to be doing it. Thanks again.1 point

Even for Italian standards, that % deviation from marked vs. actual is off by more than the standard Guzzi!1 point

The length is 106 inches, which would allow me to park three motorcycles in my garage, perpendicular behind the Ape. However, 35 mph maximum speed means being virtually unable to use highways which is kind of a show stopper for me. If I was living in the rural area, it would be fine. But just here in front of my neighborhood, where speed limit is 30 mph enforced by police, people still run at 50 mph or more. I feel it would be unsafe, unfortunately.1 point

Good , these require steps in diagnosing/repairing and if the tech speaks the English language they can join the forum and get involved with asking questions .1 point

The "U" is pronounced à la Française. Not like the double OO used in the USA. Like "tuck" or "duck"1 point

I have looked for one for a little while now. Those that are in the USA are expensive compared to what you can find in Europe. However, because of that evergoing supply chain crisis, the Houtis, seafreight is expensive, even in groupage.1 point

Unfortunately, max speed is 30 mph... 35 mph with a good wind push!1 point

Hence, programmed obsolescence... fortunately, there is a law in France to attemtp to prevent it. Especially with household appliances which are conceived in a way they can't be repaired as it used to be possible before.1 point

Yeah, it's gaining popularity here too mate... But then again anything American will eventually thrive here too! You're right about it's pagan / Celtic origins. It seems to have originated from the Celtic tradition of Samhain. Funny in that I have an Irish background and the concept was never even mentioned let alone celebrated and agree that it's another moneymaking endeavour.... Still if the neighbourhood kids enjoy it then no harm done. Cheers1 point

Happy news! The snake oil worked. In this case, VP Fix-it-fuel. Running reasonably slick. She sure does like to be good and warmed up.1 point

The G5 isn't running real well at the moment. Cleaned spark plugs and treated to same snake oil fuel today. She runs pretty good with the choke on, but backfires and sputters with choke off. Soon as she's running well, goes on the sale block. Takes up too much space and just too many other bikes to ride. At the moment, she serves well as a foot rest.1 point
