  1. Interesting, to a point. Thanks for the link @p6x Very telling what happens at about 17:18. Overtaken by a push-bike.

  3. I don't have access to my laptop with the documents for this bike, maybe someone can point to them or post them. Let's set the scene You changed spark plugs, and didn't start the motor afterwards? Why did you change the plugs? Did you test the spark plugs for continuity? I've seen enough bad from the box that I test every plug now. I've had bad brand name plug caps new too, though not likely they both failed at the same time in situ. Find the fuse and relay that power the ECU, check that you have power to the computer. IIRC the pump runs without being told to by the ECU. Did you disturb the gas tank at all? IIRC the coil power leads have connectors along the frame under the tank that are a little too easy to disconnect. Could be the cam sensor, but complete failure from good seems unlikely. Was it running poorly? Pull the cam sensor- if it's tight in the block, swollen, it's probably toast. When I first got mine, the CS ran for 20 minutes then sputtered home- every time it started after cooling, maybe a half-dozen times but quit sooner and sooner until eventually it would not start. The CS showed continuity and resistance cold, but a hot air gun and multimeter proved that as soon as it got over about 150ºF it open circuited.

  6. Here's an old question before troubleshooting begins. "What was the very last thing done to the bike before the issue occurred"? How many times have we learned 4 pages in "oh year I washed it before the issue" or Had the tank off before the issue" or find out it has a Power commander fitted etc etc. BTW it's an 1100 Sporti Phil

  7. Having owned a California ‘Touring’ and ridden lots of other 1400’s I’m afraid my opinion is that they are overweight, woeful handling POS! Look, by all means, if you think you’d like to be ‘Cruiser Curious’ try one, and yes, the small port motor is delightfully torquey, but the whole package is fat and ponderous. Since the ‘Fortress’ is laden up with even more shit than most of them I’m sure it would disappoint me more than the other versions but others may feel differently. I had customers who loved them! I’d rather set fire to my scrotum than own another one. YOMV

  8. Thought it might be interesting to share pictures of our beloved V11's as we enjoy another popular pastime ... having a beer. Not encouraging drinking and riding at all... and I just want to reiterate how important it is that we are responsible motorcyclists. 1 beer is my limit if we are on the road and have lunch somewhere. On a longer trip we always make sure we get to the hotel early, park the bikes, then walk or taxi to a couple bars, pubs or breweries. Here in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. we are spoiled with hundreds of breweries and bars. Washington state, Oregon, Northern California and British Columbia all offer amazing riding, scenery and fantastic beer (and wine). Would love to see some interesting bars from around the world, if anyone cares to share. Pictures below are of the Last Frontier Saloon in Fall City, just 40 minutes east of Seattle. A very typical "dive bar" in this part of the world. I hope this thread is permissible and seen as being responsible. If not I apologize.

  10. This song goes back to the late 60's for me. Thought about it on my way home from Sauvie Island today. It fits the season and place perfectly.

  11. Interesting place but I think it's sad we feel the need to have a bunch of disclaimers in a thread like this these days. Phil

  12. Mate, they are very very well made. They are also what they say WATERPROOF, only time I've had wet feet was when I had leathers tucked into the boots so the water ran down leathers and into the top of the boot. Put the wet weather pants over boots and no wet feet...simple. I've had mine for 8 years or so and still reckon they'll see me out..... Cheers

  13. So is the engine turning over? Or is it just dead? if it’s not turning over it may well be a grubby or corroded earth connection. The Sports have the battery/ies in the tail. There is an earth strap that goes to the rear sub frame, then that is bolted to the ‘Pork Chop’ mounting bolt. The earth path is awful! From the front subframe it’s even worse! They are notorious for problems with idiot lights, ndicators and headlights, all because of the awful earthing paths.

  16. I've been planning for months (years?) to get a custom made pair of these. https://www.daytona.de/de/Stiefel/Uebersicht/Uebersicht-Auswahl/Classic-Oldtimer In September I actually saw someone wearing them, and was able to get confirmation that they are, at least for him, a very good boot. Custom because I need it. I don't really bother going to normal shoe shops here anymore, because they never have anything that fits. Depending on the brand, I need a 39 or 40. At least half of the shops here don't stock anything smaller than a 40, some of them not smaller than 41. My feet are very short. To make it complicated, they are also very wide for the length, with very high arches. So even if the shop has a shoe the right length, it will most likely be too narrow. The last time I tried to try on motorcycle boots in a shop here in Germany, I couldn't get in to a single one that was even approximately the right size. What I am using for riding at the moment is mostly lucky finds of ex-army boots that I found at flea-markets. The accessory shop here in Leipzig that I prefer to go to has Daytona. I really must find out if they can take fittings for custom boots. Given the difficulty of finding something that fits, I don't really give a toss what they cost. What I have read in the German forums, however, gives the impression that the boots last very, very well, and the manufacturer will repair them as needed.

  17. The Diavel never did it for me... if I had to go down the Ducati path, it would most likely be an old air cooled one, such as the 500 Pantah!!! it is red too, and quite something to ride, if you ever tried one... listen to it in the video below: The one in California, in San Diego, I did a quick check to get a flight in and out from H'town to there next week; do you know how much it cost? more than what I paid to go to Paris!!! unreal... and the flights I checked were all from the so-called cheap US airlines. More than my return ticket to Paris, without including the taxes, and all the other hidden costs. So, it looks like I am going to let that cruiser curiosity slowly vanish in what's left of my synapses...
