Hello and sorry if the translation is not clear but I do not speak English and I use Google for that. I am looking for reliable springs because the only French dealer has died. New owner of a V11 le mans rosso corsa from 2005 I learned about the problem of the machine and read on your forum the means of repair, I only need one or two springs to finalize the problem of selector as a preventive measure. Incidently, one of the founders of a PA company that I have done a lot of work for over the years used to have a Kawasaki Triple. Allegedly, he was able to claim it on his tax return as a "musical instrument". He actually did produce music and sound collages, and probably did record the bike and use the sound, but still. Something else you sometimes run into that looks like that is when an exhaust pipe has a dual wall. A dual wall pipe will be single wall at the point it meets another pipe, and then that sudden increase in outer diameter is where it becomes dual wall with a gap between the inner and outer walls. The Griso head pipes are a great example of this. The dual wall pipe allows a reduction in discoloration from exhaust heat. Not saying the pipe pictured is dual wall, but sometimes that is why an exhaust pipe looks like that. From a flow point of view it would be weird to have such a sudden increase in pipe diameter at that point in the exhaust system. That is oddly not something that would likely increase exhaust velocity. In fact, if it is a sudden increase in inside diameter of the pipe it would slow down exhaust velocity at that point. Which is generally something that would not help get exhaust out. But it can be very hard to estimate exhaust flow based strictly on looks. And given the simple nature of the V11 lump I am sure it is fine either way.2 points

Dave Blue is by no means a thief! My name is Brian McCall. I have known the original owner of this bike since he bought the bike from GT Motors in Lansing, MI where I was working at the time. I uncrated the bike and set it up for owner. I have a personal stake in this as I am the person who transported the transmission to Dave. I was given the transmission in a box which I then transported to Dave. I never inspected the contents of the box. Dave called sometime later and asked where the back cover was. I referred him to the owner who claimed it was all in the box he gave to me at Barber Motorsports. I have no idea where the back cover is or has been. I do not believe either Dave or I ever saw or had possession of the back cover. My belief is that the original owner misplaced the cover and did not include it with the partially disassembled transmission I was given. I spoke with Dave this morning and I am willing to put the current owner in touch with Dave and have Dave's permission to do so. I think the original transmission should go back into this bike. I get the feeling that Dave does too. Brian1 point

Funny related bit of info. I have a Jeep Wrangler. It has a V6 engine with two sets of exhaust pipes, one per bank. They merge together back behind the engine and trans on the left side of the vehicle. Unless you did something to account for length, the length of the exhaust before where they merge would be shorter on the left side since the right side exhaust pipe has to go further to cross over to the left side of the vehicle. What the factory did to account for the difference in length was to bend the left side pipe into a loop. That loop makes the two pipes the same length from the head to the merge point. But that loop is prone to hitting rocks if you offroad. We in fact did that, putting a dent in the looped part of the pipe. The solution is to replace the loop with a fairly straight length of pipe that does away with the loop. But if the straight pipe was the same diameter you would be introducing an uneven-ness to the exhaust system, with the left side exhaust pipe being shorter then the right side exhaust before they merge. To overcome that the people who make the replacement pipe make the straight non-looped pipe using larger diameter pipe. Because the shorter section of pipe is larger in diameter the exhaust in it slows down so that it takes a similar length of time for the exhaust to travel through that section of pipe as it would have if the exhaust was going through the longer looped section of pipe it replaces. Thus, the two sides still reach the merge when they are supposed to and the two sides still have what acts like the same length exhaust system. Even though one side is actually shorter in length. You never know but given the distance this change in diameter is from the exhaust valve I doubt it really makes a difference in power. But it may make a difference in sound.1 point

I don’t think dave is on this forum, but he’ll get back to me at some point and i’ll let you know. he’s a really good guy, with a very long resume of working directly for moto guzzi and various moto guzzi tech and race teams back when they did that going on, but dont think he does a lot of forums or email. i’ll get back to you soon once i have info. might prove helpful one way or another.1 point

There are some noises that NEED to be there . Mechanical lifters , clutch sounds ( lever pulled in or released) , straight cut gears , etc. If you know what you are hearing . Wow ! If it is making expensive sounds , not wow .1 point

Looking for some bass riffs for a Dylan song, I stumbled across this never-aired concert filmed at the Bellevue Biltmore Starlight Ballroom, April 1976, in Clearwater, Florida, where I graduated high school a couple months later. The link opens with the Joan Baez performance at 16:54, hauntingly beautiful. What was billed as the largest wooden hotel in the country is gone now. So amazed this video exists.1 point

Hi Gents, They're sold now. I didn't think that they'd last long on the market. LP, the noise is just the normal noise from straight cut gears meshing, you can't hear it at all when riding, only on tickover, & even then it's fairly quiet, as you mentioned in an earlier post. The issue is just me being pedantic, some people love the mechanical whine or the clatter of a Ducati dry clutch, 'nothing wrong with that, I'm just not that way inclined. As far as the gears are concerned, the quality of manufacture is outstanding & the precision is first class.1 point

Are you speaking of the entire TB assembly, including the injectors and TPS mounted to the rail set? Either way, I see no changes in the parts or the assembly across the V11 SpineFrame range; should all be interchangeable.1 point

Although I haven't conversed with Joe in a long time, I used to be in quite frequent contact with him He's made several bits and pieces for me over the years and everything he sold me and a few other Guzzi folks I know has been really well made. A few racers have used his gear sets for which he's renowned his other big mod was an oil pump and gears too for the HiCam engines. The original oil pump design on the HiCam engines being badly flawed and led to several engines being reduced to scrap. I heard he was liasing with Phil on an update to the oil pump design for the HiCam, perhaps @Lucky Phil will chip in and tell us more Joe's a huge Guzzi fan and very knowledgable as well as being a really nice guy, PM me if you want his mail address, I just don't like putting it out on a public forum1 point

. The mention of “Paradise” is interesting for its timing. Over on ADV Rider forum, there is an entertaining and informative thread called "Pillion Viewpoint (PVP).” https://advrider.com/f/threads/pillion-viewpoint-pvp.1525703/ The “host,” a lady from West Virginia, posts great photos of the things we “pilots” only see, if at all, briefly as we are so darn focused on the literal way ahead without dying. Her narratives are also engaging. Her “groupies” (I am one) have been encouraging her to collect and publish in, e.g., a “coffee table book,” the best of her posts. Great stuff. Her husband, Wally — PVP calls him “Rider” — is a fine fellow. He is often mentioned, and occasionally seen, but don’t think he ever posts in PVP’s thread. Rider is quite a wrench, too, and has many solo and two-up miles on his beemer and his new KTM. Anyway, PVP — a retired lawyer — has an architectural bent, and her pix often include interesting buildings. Her interest in houses of all sorts led recently to this comment, "All this architectural inventiveness, fading away, and replaced by the ticky-tacky," and 60’s or so protest songs, including, e.g., https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Boxes. Go to her thread if you care to see all of the interesting chatter, but I responded to the "ticky-tacky" post, including mention of "Paradise." "I understand the Little Boxes, ticky-tacky houses, and the like, and enthusiastically sang (badly) those along with my friends. That said, and I did not recognize it at the time, there is, IMO, an unmistakable whiff of elitism in that and other "suburban protest ballads." Those little boxes were the literal dreams-come-true of so many whose lives, when young, had been scarred by the Depression and then disrupted -- if they survived -- by WWII. Those folks were now raising families in those ticky-tacky homes we condemned in our songs. As a boomer, vintage '47, I lived a care-free teenage life that made it easy to complain about the wrongs of my parents' generation, most of whom were struggling and still sacrificing for their children. As one of those kids, I lived in a tract home in Daviess County, Kentucky, in the 1960's, and dated a sweet lass from Central City in Muhlenberg County, so my favorite song at the time was, of course ... Recognition of my own frailties as a young person helps me overlook and forgive the teens and young adults of today. Now ... get off my lawn, PVP, and take and post some more pix!” Whatever the socio-economic and political value then and now, it’s a great song. Bill1 point

@PJPR01 I updated the original post with the map for the 2025 tour; 50 stops, 5 alternates, 5 Republic of Texas stops. As before, you can copy the map and save it on your google drive to build your own itineraries. The Wyoming ROT #5 seems very far away... 19 hours one way without the stops.... Stop #25, which is any Veteran of Foreign War post, I picked the one in Navasota, since we have already one stop there. But of course, there are others.1 point
