  1. Discussed the specifics of their R/R with them, also when wired directly to the battery. Their R/R only switches the +12v connection on when it see an AC voltage, thereby preventing mA draw with the bike off. I also asked them if they could lengten the + and - wires (originally 57cm) to 120cm with the connectors separate. "Absolutely no problem, just let us known in the comments when you order". So I ordered and received a sent confirmation only about 3 hours later. I received the regulator, with 120cm of wire on it, nicely sleeved all the way. Drilled new holes in the mounting bracket (and gave it a lick of paint) & tested the bike: shockingly stable charge voltages. Problem solved.

  2. While the SuperSpring is @Chuck's design, @Scud is The Keeper of the Springs.

  3. I would think you need to completely disassemble the plastic parts to wrap it same as paint? Either way you'd have a new looking bike, that be cool.

  4. FWIW in this thread, I'm a Navistar Defense Master Field Service Representative. (Navistar Defense qualification is identical to Navistar proper) We were issued full-stack military PCs with diagnostic software for every wheeled vehicle the military owned at the time. (2007-2010) HOWEVER only the International/Navistar software was unlocked on our PCs. The military was issued a service package with every new vehicle which had *all* of the software unlocked; of course, nobody knew how to use it and for them to take full advantage of the diagnostics, they needed someone like me from each relevant company to teach them (Navistar, Allison, OshKosh, BAE etc.) so I had a few years to sort through the specifics and politics of it; at the end of the day, it has *NOTHING* to do with warranty, or safety, or data security. It has *EVERYTHING* to do with licensing revenue. Simple As.

  6. Spoke with Dave Blue today. Just to put it to rest, he's a great guy and under no suspicion of inadequacy, all a misunderstanding on the part of the previous owner- who is also a decent guy and under no aspersions. He still has the transmission, in the same condition it came to him in. I found the rear cover in question in a box of parts that came with the bike, so they'll eventually be reunited. Dave wasn't even certain why it was sent to him as the recall had been done previously. I suppose I'll need a shift return spring- was that @Chuck who has them? Gotta learn a whole new box now lol

  7. A good excuse to come and ride to Mike’s in Hempstead and then make a run to Round Top or environs! Let me know if you plan to visit…

  8. Yeah and everything comes w/a subscription . My SnapOn scanner comes w/a subscription and it works as long as a piece of plastic feeds it monthly as well as service information and shop software. For those working on highway tractors (semi trucks) you have to have a laptop w/software for the truck brand and whatever powerplant there is under the hood. I'm sure Mr. Green would turn this loose for the right amount of monthly subscription plus a $ervice call to fix whatever Farmer Turnipseed did to the equipment .

  9. @PJPR01 MPH has closed down the Park Ten Avenue location... I went today, and they were finishing the packing. I spoke to Davey, he does not know yet when they are going to be up and running at the new place. I am sad to have lost the convenience to have a garage working on Moto Guzzi 10 minutes from home. According to Mike, business will be unaffected, and I understand why. His customers get their bikes delivered by transporters, they don't really ride them. So it does not matter where.

  10. I've got one, but you can't have it. Seriously, though, I'm well impressed with how this issue has been solved. Everyone looking for a solution without worrying too much about who was or is in the wrong. Very pleasant. When I think about how such discussions sometimes develope in other forums I'm on, I'm very glad to be here.
