  1. Hi all, picture of my Scura S608 - proud owner and still going strong on trackdays šŸ’Ŗ

  2. I've got an 2017 R9T Racer, picked it up about 3 years back for Ā£7k with less than 3k miles, thought it wasn't a bad deal So far I've had no problems and really like it, good linear midrange, but IMHO they aren't as engaging as the Guzzis, a little less soul. The stock suspension is pretty dire, replaced the rear shock with a Wilbers unit and an Ohlins cartridge kit in the forks, transformed the bike The other thing I miss is the exhaust note, I've got a Zard on mine, so it's louder than stock, but the exhaust note is flat and monotone. The riding position on the Racer is pretty extreme, radical clip ons and stretched over the tank. That doesn't appear to be the case though with the R12 I know nothing of the R12S but I do really like the looks, the grumblings on the Beemer forum I'm on is mainly the price. A few have purchased one, but yet to see an owner's report. My Racer, its beem modified a little since the pictures, nothing too radical though

  5. The importance of the main ground from the battery to the back of the gearbox cannot be overemphasized . . . As well as the additional ground from the regulator case to the engine timing chest:

  9. Much appreciated this last weekā€¦. Next step is fit new parts replacing perished rubber items. Side covers, battery trayā€¦.These are due in two weeks so plenty of time to read ā€˜topicā€™ posts and assess what I can do myself to the wiring/improvements beyond the ā€˜great green wireā€™ fiasco! Iā€™ll be honest and admit limitationsā€¦.. Thanks to you guys I can now take the bike for a safety check with the road authorities. In my State only 30+ year old vehicles receive any concessions. Previously low-beam not working a big fail! Regards, tennitragic

  13. To be fair, I think it is cool, especially some of the touches like a bevel cam drive (although the baby versions don't have that it seems). And they are pretty. For me, I would want some with more then a 230cc or 250cc engine for where I live. A 500cc single would be great. A 400cc single is okay, but I already have that.

  15. Future? That looks retro to me. They are cool, but I don't think a 230cc bike would sell well here. A 400cc - 500cc single would be a better option. The wife and I own two smaller bikes, a pair of Husqvarna 401's. They are great fun to ride. But I am glad they are as big as the are engine wise, I don't think I would enjoy them nearly as much if they were 230cc. In fact, I wish they used the larger KTM single. Even KTM realized they needed more power, as this year that line of bikes gets a longer stroke and more torque. The new ones also get a better dash, ours have a dash that is nearly useless, and they get a larger gas tank it seems. An extra gallon of gas is huge when it only holds 2.4 gallons to begin with. It sucks having to fill up every 100 miles or so.

  16. Could be, Marc Marquez could win the title. Or not. He might be a favorite with some people, but he is clearly not a sure thing. I am not even sure the champion will be riding a Ducati. Bez on the Ape was really quick, and he isn't even the fastest guy riding an Aprilia this year. It will be interesting to see what Martin can get out of it. And KTM is right there. However it goes, it appears that Ducati has lost most of the advantage they had last year, Ducati literally has pretty much what they had last year while the other manufacturers have made progress. Even Yamaha and Honda are right there. Honda still needs to sort some power and traction issues, they need more power but don't have enough traction for the power they have now. But on tracks with good traction they are right there even without the extra power they need. So things are certainly even closer then they were last year. I don't know about your statement that the others have not caught up. Test times indicate they have. But testing doesn't pay points. We will see soon enough who has what. It should be fun to watch.

  17. There is no competition on who reported it first; I have a feeling that MotoGP is not really followed a lot here. Only a few of us are keeping tabs. Going back to the GP24 chassis, it seems indeed that the 2025 season will start with a GP25 with the same chassis, engine and aerodynamics as the GP24. In any case, owing to Marquez' sprint race simulation, Ducati remains the reference in the field, even with their 2024 bike. The others teams have still not caught up with them. The only question that everybody has, who between Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez will win the 2025 World MotoGP championship? Personally, I don't even think there is a question; Marc Marquez will win.

  18. I don't see how it could. The incorrectly connected green wire was on one end of the coil in the relay. The wires out to the headlights have no connection to there.

  20. I have found over-zealous application of shrink wrap at both ends of the cable. Thus, it was making only partial contact, squishing the shrink wrap, which will continue to compress, slowly loosening the connection. Add in that Guzzi character (vibration), and it becomes a recipe for future consternation.

  22. As to MotoGP news, very interesting developments with Ducati. It seems they will not homologate their new 2025 engine and instead they will homologate the 2024 engine for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Also, they seem to prefer the 2024 chassis, although that is not something they will be locked into for the next two years. Once they get the new chassis to where it is faster than the 2024 they would be free to switch as long as the 2024 engine fits in it. p6x, you beat me to it....

  23. Its officicial now; all the 2025 and 2026 Ducati bikes will use the 2024 engine. The 2025 version of the engine has been discarded by both Bagnaia and Marquez. I think it is interesting because all the Ducati bikes will have the exact same engine for the next two seasons. This also means that the GP25 chassis will most likely remain the 2024 with some probable evolutions. According to Tardozzi, the challenge is to manufacture the necessary 2024 spec'ed engines in time for homologation, for the three Ducati that were initially going to use the 2025 version. So in theory, the six Ducati of 2025 and 2026 are going to have the same engine.

  27. Just excellent, learning about "Cutting Crew ". You guys take me back . . . Leon Redbone opened for Tom Waits in the very intimate Tampa Theater, November 1978. Redbone was like part of the audience, but onstage performing. He kept stopping and taking "Polaroids" of the audience, then stopping again later to look at the photos saying something like, "Onnnh, yeeeah, huuuughh . . ." Waits came on like a ghost from a street corner we have all been on. Brilliant. Haunting. Waits.

  28. After thinking on it the cover of Midnight Rider is not selling the melody like the original did. I just happened to like it. A better example just driving the melody would be more like The Who Eminence Front.
