  1. Yeah, they are pretty rough all right. Just a heads up if anyone hasn't noticed that they wear away on the back side. I made up a stainless "shoe" that fit over the Mighty Scura's foot and epoxied it on.

  4. For now just welded on some more alu. My bikes have minimum time idling, so not much wear on my watch. Cheers Tom.

  5. Well you can forget about the Scura one if you want lower or even equal height to the original V11 rubber pad. I have a Scura one on my bike and it's at least the same height as the original and maybe even a little taller.

  6. I discovered while adding a hardened bolt to the heel of mine that there's a steel core cast inside the leg. Too bad they didn't make it a steel foot. Seems like they're hen's teeth- what happened? Is your mounting bracket ok?

  7. I am hoping it came off because it had been removed and loosely screwed back. That being said, these hose clamps maybe an indication they are prone to unscrewing themselves.

  8. They slayed it ! The original was 6mins 7 seconds and theirs was 6mins 15 seconds. Machine Head was a perfect LP. i bought the 8-track . I hope everyone is that old ? Hush was the first song I heard from them fully equipped w/the wolf howl at the intro. Then I will never understand how they took a polite song from Neil Diamond and ELECTRIFIED it w/100,000 v ! KENTUCKY WOMAN . Back to this group , it is incredible to see kids that age play with all their heart and play every note as though it is their last time on the planet Earth .

  10. I would check the nut on the gearbox carefully to see if it's split. If so, you could use a clamp or perhaps a sturdy zip tie to tighten it on the thread after assembly. If not, a few wraps of teflon tape should tighten the threads up enough to keep it in place.

  11. Instead of loctite, you could use a very very small amount of Blue Hylomar on the thread, would provide enough "stickiness" w/o creating a locking situation. I couldn't imagine how it would spin off by itself unless it was well enough loose, or the Quota is like a paint shaker and vibrates like hell. Seems unlikely though.

  12. Because somebody was looking at this topic, I had a look, and looked at the Avon site. It seems that they are still in the game. https://www.avontyres.com/de-de/reifen/?cartype=motorcycle

  13. Hello all. I am looking for an alternative to the OEM tank/chin pad on my MY 2000 V11 (greenie). Specifically, I am looking for the OEM carbon fiber version that came on the Scura. (The goal here is to find a replacement that fills the cavity on top of the tank once the OEM pad is removed, but do so without the added height of the OEM pad - alternate part suggestions welcome!)

  14. Besides riding a motorcycle, diving was one of my favorite hobby. I did a lot of diving in the Red Sea, Mediterranean, Atlantic, Indian ocean... Renting the tanks, filling the tanks, depending where you dive, can quickly become expensive. My "deep dives" are now behind me, and there are plenty of places where you don't need to go dark to enjoy the dives. If you like diving, I found this company, based in Australia, that proposes equipment that avoid the tanks; https://airbuddy.com/

  15. @docc that would be quite pretty if it had a sensible motor sticking out from under the tank.

  17. I checked that it was not split, it did not appear to be. I thought about that too. As said above, it was probably not screwed properly when it came back.

  18. Looked closely and measured both the 04 and the 01. Looks the same to me.

  19. No, I couldn't work out which one it was. Changing the t-shirt fooled me completely. I will refrain from comparisons to Jon Lord, because that would be silly. I had the great fortune to encounter him on a couple of jobs. Polite, friendly, a real gentleman. Musically: the second time was one of those "rock meets classic" things. The orchestra was a combination of a semi-professional orchestra and students from a commercial "music academy". The finale was a Deep Purple melody, of course. They rehearsed it once without the man, and it was all correct. Then he came on stage. First thing was, the organ sounded different (better) when he played it than when the organ-hire bloke played it after he set it up. How does that work? A Hammond organ is a machine. You push a button, and a noise comes out. And on top of that, the rehearsal without was, as I said, correct. With him playing along, all of a sudden it also grooved. One man pulled an entire orchestra into the groove. Not bad, I reckon... So it would be silly to draw comparisons between a teenage girl and someone like that. The same applies to the guitarist that played the solos. She has potential, but needs a few years. Ritchie Blackmore was an experienced and creative guitarist when that song was produced. No comparison, so no comment.

  20. You said you did not check this when it came back from the service center? We have no way to know if it was tight or not? Get it about as snug as you would reseal a 2 liter soda. Put a dob of yellow paint pencil on it and run it a while and see what happens. I can't see what the hose clamp is doing so I can't comment on it.

  23. Ahh, I wondered about the colour. A different colour alone would explain the different part number, even if it is actually physically the same part.

  24. No measurement, looks the same. Black colored, looks different, sure the same. Cheers Tom. Sent fra min SM-S906B via Tapatalk

  25. The little dude is tireless and shows some real soul in his playing. Best for all of them that he keeps his time locked with the bass. I've played with some drummers that wouldn't lock-on. After a while, everyone just packs up and goes home. In all honesty, though, our bass player is just not that cute.

  26. I know that YT is full of these talented kids, one better than the next. I relate to that, because I tried to teach guitar to my son when he was 5 years old, and I could never get him interested, even if he did pretty well, as I was trying to get him to like it. I was in awe watching the little guy playing the drums in that humpteenth cover of the Deep Purple highway star...

  28. Yes. My Z900 did that, as did my GTR 1000 and the Honda CBX 650 E. The Suzuki GSX 1100 motor was particularly good at it.

  30. Got her back yesterday - definitely feels more compliant and supple with the Belray 5w High Performance fork oil. Adjusted the compression and rebound a just half-turn stiffer to compensate for the new oil, and seems very good for now. Kept the stock Marzocchi springs, and still seems fine for my 190lbs. I set up the sag and pre-load 5 years ago when i got the bike and have not changed it. Thanks for all the help and input everyone. Incidentally, had a great time talking with Roland at The Spare Parts Co in Philly about everything Guzzi. They've been open since '81, and knew Dr. John Wittner well.

  31. Finally off the stand! Yep, this project certainly dragged. It's easy to neglect the project bike when other bikes are ready and waiting. I got my ass in gear this last month and got it done.
