if you leave out the forum image tag around the gif URL it will display as a blue http link that everyone can use manually. For some reason this forum auto window popup thing won't work even with popup killer turned off.
  2. Yes. You need the 3pin Iti converter cable. Search Guzzidiag, in fact it's in one of the pinned topics in one if the FAQ sections. I beleive the map is customizeable around the actual operating temperature, so cold running gets more or less of something to cure the stumble. 1st order of business is balancing your throttle bodies with the balancing manometer you diy from a couple of meters of tube and a yardstick. I forget what the white knob does, haven't got my bike delivered yet!
  3. From what I've been reading, a spare shift pawl spring, if not tools to get at it roadside. Headlight bulb, tail light, indicators can save your life too, but who carries those?
  4. I agree that chopping up such a nice bike would be a waste. The Laverda fairing does look sweet all the same. I like red with the shiney wheels, forks and pipes combination very much. Stripping yours back might retain future classic value, or not.
  5. The original ECU is fully tunable with the "Guzzidiag" software and a couple of cables.
  6. There's a continuum between fanging around a track and cruising highways. Thanks for your data point.
  7. Yeah, one of the main reasons for me to own a silly powerful bike is to make overtaking large trucks on inclines that much safer. That entails full throttle operation, max G force up hill, on a regular basis. Afaik the sump pickup is still in the front on 2002 tenni. Colour me concerned.
  8. Are you few suffering these bottom end blowups doing silly things to justify the punishment?

What are those should fit tenni ok, needs new hydraulic lines?
  10. There's your first gotcha. Apparently there are no identifying marks on the rod caps, making it possible to mix up both location and direction.
  11. The rotor is good and tight. I'll be pulling the sump and rod caps as soon as I get some time.Rod caps enclose the "big end" bearings of the conrods. Now you're up to speed, sort of. A workshop manual would be a good idea. There are often gotchas lurking in motors. Maybe it's as simple as winding off the cap nuts (bolts?) and giving the cap a tap, maybe not. A question for the knowledgeable, if a bigend has gone, is it ok to simply replace the shells with the same size without inspecting the crank for trueness and wear? And what sort of mess would be in the oilways?
  12. Yeah, don't wind up on the evening news having been the centre of a pileup. If it is a bigend slapping about it's only going to put more junk into the works as it breaks up, until it seizes and your crankshaft is mangled, not something you want happening while overtaking an 18 wheeler at warp9.
  13. Before or after knocking appeared? You might like to drop the sump and see what signs are there.
  14. The knock is there when clutched while riding, as well.yes, but I'm working on the theory that a noise which stays same in two different gears at same roadspeed comes from after the gearbox, ie driveshaft and wheels. Yet yours is present when stationary, so must be motor related.
  15. If I developed such a racket I'd be scared of breaking down badly. If you really want to self diagnose it you're going to need much better help. Might I suggest checking your valve clearances, just for something that doesn't require starting it up again. I got a feeling something has let go a lot deeper in the motor though.
  16. The frequency staying with roadspeed doesn't tally with it being there when clutched on stationary bike.
  17. Changing gears doesn't change the knock frequency. I should also note that the knock is there with and without the clutch engaged. I was going to say driveline, but then looked at the vid.
  18. Does changing gears change the knock frequency?
  19. A boss is a raised part of a casting. In this case it's what the spring winds around to actuate the pawl, now if I knew what exactly a pawl did and how it gets moved...
  20. Do you get much more midrange torque out of modding the cylinder heads like this?
  21. Afaik it's only a problem with 2002 models having the oversized pawl boss.
  22. There is a rehash of this in another thread with a curious title including words to the effect of "no pics here", go figure. Perhaps some kind moderator will take the time to host those pics on the local server and point the original FAQ thread linked on pg1, to them. Or is it a how to thread? Housekeeping overhaul this winter?

Score 1 for logical thinking. Got to wonder how many springs got changed by shyster dealers when owners complained they couldn't adjust for themselves. "I set it to max and it's still soft".
