  1. Thanks, I took her out for a break in ride yesterday, only rode about 8 miles, got a couple of little coughing a 3k rpm, so I turned around and headed back in a lower gear and she was fine. Drained the oil oil and dropped the pan and had a few little flakes of metal, but nothing that concerned me too much, checked the valves, one intake was a little tight, the other was a little loose, both exhaust were fine. Both plugs had a nice color to them. New oil and I will take a longer ride and see how she does. Got the generator working, but the headlight is still flaky, last time it was the switch, worked fine for the ride, but decided not to work again today. I also need to address the fuel line cross over, bought a new one and it leaked at the x, put new clear hose on the old x connection, but having issues with the clamps at the carbs, they keep leaking, I may cut the hoses off the new x and rebuild it with new rubber hose and crimp clamps and just use normal screw clamps on the carb ends. The bike is definitely old school, the sounds, the feel and the riding position. I really enjoyed it, brakes are weak, but I will keep playing with them, the ride is good, the handling is good, engine is smooth and the shifting is agricultural, but solid. For fun rides down back roads and riding for the pure joy of riding, I think this is going to be the perfect bike for me. I am still keeping my eyes out for an old California II, I think it will fill the gap between the Ambassador and the Quota.
  2. I did use an LED headlight which could be part of my problem, but wanted a smaller load on the electric system.
  3. She is about 99% done, runs very good, just a few electrical issues to sort out, generator may or may not working and the headlight is giving me fits, but other than that she is road ready. I pulled a little bit of the 60's/70's out of the style, pin stripes and chrome knee area of the tank, a little more understated.
  4. And the right tank, have a backup tank on there now. And the V11 replacement, I finally got back into riding some last year, Love the Quota, just had to play with the timing some to get it running well below 4k rpm.
  5. OK, be honest, who gave up on me and this Bike? Not done yet, made a lot a progress a few years ago, but got distracted. I will be back on it in a month or two as soon as I get my workshop cleaned out and organized so I can get her in it and finish it. All new paint, powder coated the frame, forks, swing-arm, etc. Rebuilt the engine (new piston and liners, rebuilt heads) did some transmission work, new wiring, a few custom touches here and there. A few issues I need to work out, rear wheel is dragging on something, I put new bearings in and shimmed them, I think I just need to shim the wheel, have the shims, just need to play with it. Bevel gear box is leaking at the input, I think I might have forgotten the o-ring, have new o-rings to put in if that is the case. I had some transfer on the inside of the left fork, I need to pull it apart and see if I can get rid of the transfer material, right now the fork is locked up, have a spare set of forks, but would need to powder coat the lower if I do replace it. Hoping to to be riding her this spring.
  6. Really? OK, I guess I am out then.
  7. Do these fit Quotas (ES1100)? If so I am in for one!

  9. I made the offer on the frame, even offered to paid shipping on top of the $25, but no response... But here is the red replacement...
  10. I wish the raid was the weekend before or the weekend of Labor Day and I would be there, but can't make it that weekend, maybe next year when I am back on the bike. I got a red one, well, I will get it next weekend, looking forward to it. Those prices are crazy, some are more than what I paid new, but I did think about offering $25 for the frame to hang on the wall
  11. I hope you are doing good hrc. Are you riding yet? I must have missed your crash if previously posted. I had something in the picture thread, in the late 80's pages, happened 9/9/17, so sometime after that.
  12. No worries, leave it up, it is fine. I see the humor in it. I am doing good, walking pretty good, not riding yet, had a second surgery about 5 months ago, they had to put a larger ti rod/spike in it, had part of the bone not healing, but all good now, just need to build strength. Strength is what is keeping me from riding, not sure I can hold the bike up if it leans too far to the right at a light or something. Planning for a ride in the Spring. Still working on my '71 Ambassador, got it mostly torn down. Could not fight it any more and picked up a 2000 Quota, not a spine, but still a Guzzi. Still have a lot of V11 stuff, might hold on to it a little longer.
  13. This makes me so sad... That is my old bike, seeing the handle bar make my ti filled leg hurt... Engine has a Roper plate (do Roper plates fit Quotas?), the hard bags were on it, fell over after the head on, relays were new style and just put in, the exhaust only had 1,500 miles, just rebuilt the brake MC and calipers, although at least one caliper was toast...Knight lowering pegs, just had the Speedo redone.
  14. Ha, maybe, but HRC used titanium connecting rods in my V4, and now I have a titanium rod connecting my knee and hip.
  15. I am now bionic Sammy. Yes, ti rod. It could have been much worse, so I am healing, but going to miss the fall riding season. Thanks for all the well wishes!
  16. I survived, only real injury ( since this is a picture thread). This was Saturday, she tried to defend her/lane from a cage, did a good job, but I think I need to work on my dismount before my mid-air acrobatics.
  17. Mine mated with something slightly larger
  18. OK, I am in VA now, enjoyed the cool Saturday morning to get out ride about 170 miles. But I have another question, anyone have a stock engine map for a 2001 V11 Sport? I have done the tune up, adjusted the CO Trim to negative territory, (-7 if memory serves) and after my 170 mile ride, my brand new plugs were pretty dark, plus I am getting some spark knock at higher 5k+ rpms with heavy throttle, dark plus and spark knock make we want to start with a known map. I have added slip ons, with DB killers installed, I guess that could add to my lean at higher RPMs, but why do I have black plugs? The last 50 miles was at about 60 mph, so not low speed riding.
  19. Bring it on! We have 421 through Shady Valley, Hwy 58 out of Damascus and good roads down to Hot Springs! Heck, maybe a few more Guzzi will pop up on the road side. But I am going to try and make it, I need to block the calendar. I think a complete tear down is in order, so far nothing is frozen on it, and it is complete, that is what I like about it. The exhaust is not original, so in my eyes it can be replaced, one crash bar is bent, I think the rear shocks are toast, I could not get it on the center stand last night. It will be a fun project, a good Blue Ridge Parkway bike, maybe I can get her done by next fall.
  20. And tonight she gets to stay in the all Italian garage...
  21. And more, it can be saved, but it is going to take some work. I like the idea of spending more than a few months taking it apart and putting it back together. I think $2,500 is on the low side, I bet I will have more than that in it doing the work myself. I will start a thread on WildGuzzi when I get moved and get the bike ready to go.
