Nitromors from Halfords will remove your existing paint within seconds- it's great fun, makes the paint go crinkly then you can peel it off in big strips. I'd be tempted to polish it myself- as long as you don't mind having to polish it now and then to keep on top of it.

Very good! But we can't cope with any more colonies until we sell Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

I love riding in the UK and Ireland but if you want consistent good riding weather we live in the wrong place!

The Ercoles are still used by the local authority in Mandello- here is a pic of one taken in 2007. The two municipal gardeners who were using the Ercole looked like they preferred chatting for ages with locals as opposed to actually doing any work! Guy

There's a raft of issues emanating from Europe that will have a profound effect on riders and the motorcycle industry generally and we must stand up. Some of them are driven by the EU Commission, like the new Type Approval and Market Surveillance Regulation that will see the introduction of compulsory ABS, the sealing of powertrains from airbox to the diameter and aspect ratio of the rear tyre, restrictions on the aftermarket industry, possible roadside checks by police or other Gov agencies to inspect emissions or for owner 'tuning' and more. There's EU funded development of electronics to control and govern speeds either through warning systems or actual throttle control and there are plans in Ireland for compulsory, full sleeve day-glo jackets for riders and pillions. As with France, where reflective/day-glo clothing is being debated, the onus should not be on the victim. Will insurance companies start saying that because we weren't dressed in day-glo it's our own fault that an inattentive driver drove into us? France also wants to ban bikes over 7 years old from urban areas for environmental reasons! Their congestion is already terrible and putting more riders into cars that pollute terribly when they are stationary, is bonkers. Bikes are part of the urban transport solution, not problem. Enough! There will be a vote by the MEP committee discussing the above Regulation, at the start of October (4th/5th or 6th). We need them to listen. They represent us. I think that many owners are happy with their V11s and can't see anything else they would rather have. I know Helen loves her V11 Sport and would be happy to ride it forever. When I have sold my Triumph I will be in the market for a reasonably priced Ohlins shod V11 if anyone knows of one for sale. Don't mind if its tatty or thrashed because it is for a project. Yes plenty of old geezers out there. Our local bike club has links with the University, and I know plenty of younger riders but they are in the minority. Although I was speaking to an 18 year lad on a Fazer 600 at the MOT station the other day and he told me it was cheaper for him to insure his Fazer than it was for him to insure a little Vauxhall Corsa so there is hope. I bought my first Guzzi when I was 20- a V65 Lario which had a bit of go in it (until the motor went tits up). What would a 20 year old buy now from the current Guzzi range? Much more likely to want an R6.

Too right Jaap- you rarely see anyone under the age of 55 in a Guzzi dealership these days. Some interesting new sporty bikes that are not cruisers or roadsters will help bring fresh blood to the marque. The other whisper I heard in Mandello is that watercooled motors are on the way- although I love old aircooled engines, if watercooling helps bring Guzzi into the 21st century then it will be a good thing. You are a lucky boy Jaap!! Its been said before but Guzzi are missing a massive opportunity by not producing a bike like this. Now that the RSV Mille has been discontinued Piaggio have no V twin sports bike in their various model ranges. When I was in Mandello earlier this month I was told there will be a Guzzi sports bike launched this year, but I have heard that before on every single visit! Guy
