  1. I also heard that synthetic mutton fat will blow your engine immediately. Fat bloke down the pub told me that so I believe him. Guy
  2. Noggers- We could start a new oil thread- mutton or lamb fat- whats the best? Guy
  3. Is that Nomansland near the Forest-? nice neck of the woods Guy
  4. Hey its not me that cracks the jokes- they have a good laugh at themsleves! Guy
  5. I be a Hampshire Hog Martin- I have lived here 5 years and enjoy it but I am no tight arsed tyke! As for the fliters- no need for superhuman strength- just a sensible grip and wrist action. Guy
  6. Eagle (bird) flu will be on its way!
  7. I always install my oilfilter by hand and remove it in the same way.. Guy
  8. Most hardware shops will sell you a universal c spanner if you do have the exact size. If you get no luck I will post you one of mine to borrow and you can return when you have finished. Guy
  9. What I meant was if you were to believe every comment then it sounded as if your bike was going to explode the moment you rode it! I used to do 120mph flat out every morning on the way to work and as a young lad, was not very mechanicaly sympathetic and used to thrash it from cold so I think I probably caused the damage. Trouble is if we accepted every every negative comment about a Guzzi we would all be paranoid never ride them and always be in the garage worrying what is going to break next. I just like to get out there and ride 'em! Guy
  10. I used to have one in the 80s- my first ever Guzzi. The bike was good for just over 120mph and used to annoy my mates on RD350s because it was just as fast as them. There is some scaremongering on Guzzi forums about Larios because the 4 valve motor was not as reliable as the 2 valvers. Mine was fine for about 20,000 miles of thrashing before I needed some work to the top end. Tyre sizes are weird- both 16 inch wheels so check out availibility. A great little fun bike. Guy
  11. A very comprehensive list of options from Mr Laing! One other option- HTM in Germany can reprogram your fuelling and ignition. They were at Boxmeer last year with a mobile dyno and doing plenty of tuning. Also had 4 nice Guzzi racers on display and chatting to him he sounded like he knew his stuff, although I do not know anyone who has had their mods. Here is their website. http://www.htmoto.de/index.php?p=startpage&l=en Guy

    Pressures

I used to use mine on my Jackal but have no problems accessing the valves on my V11. I never use garage pumps unless in an emergency they are way inaccurate- always do it at home with my own pump and gauge which I know to be reliable. Guy
  13. Another oil thread??? Shirley not!! I use olive oil- works for me and is very cheap! KY jelly is a cheaper option but a bit more messy. Guy
  14. Aussie Andy Caldecott won the stage today by over 3 minutes- what a great ride. Website has not been updated with positions so I don't know the Brit situation yet although I notice that Charlie Boorman was 172nd yesterday in front of quite a few experienced riders and his mentor Simon Pavey. Guy
  15. Went out today for a short trip (about 50 miles) and back to Keighley to visit a friend and it was bloody cold. Even though the weather forecaster predicted sunshine it rained on the way home. For some reason every car driver today had psychopathic tendancies and there were idiots pulling out of junctions without looking, driving up each others arse and generally behaving like they were drunk- maybe they were! Roads were freezing cold and slippery too so I did not want to have to slam on the anchors too hard. I just chugged along and tried my best to avoid these idiots but still enjoyed the ride. Guy

Yes I have an adapter I can screw onto the valve that sticks out sideways to make it easier to read the pressure or inflate. don't cost much- I think I bought mine in Hein Gericke. Guy
  17. Unfortunatley Jim there is no word in Dutch for work because it does not exist over there- they spend all day smoking drugs and watching hardcore porn, whilst supping Grolsh and eating ham and eggs. Just kidding Jaap!!!
  18. I often reuse the existing gasket unless its knackered and I dont use a torque wrench- just use my judgement. No secrets- I guess I have been lucky although the same can't be said of crankcase seals- I have blown 2 over the years! Guy
  19. I saw him last night on TV- thats a hell of a big car! Guy
  20. Never had a rocker gasket leak in 18 years of Guzzi-ing. Guy
  21. Turns out the cat was owned by a local policeman and had been ill for a while- it was still a bit warm so must have died in the morning. Guy
  22. I woek up at 1.30pm to happily discover I was uninjured after my binge drinking session only to find a dead black cat in the garden which belonged to a neighbour- is this a good or bad omen??? Guy
  23. Just watched the highlights of stage one on Eurosport- there were some nutters on a Harley V Rod sidecar combination splashing through the mud and water. Must be the toughest off road race in the world- I'll be following the progress of Charlie Boorman and the rest of the Brits. Guy
  24. Yes I bought mine from Corsa Italiana. Make sure you ask them for a straight one as build quality is very variable. Guy
